Fusion doesn't work long term and won't for many years. Cold fusion was an interesting concept because it was supposed to solve the issue of the heat literally destroying the machine.

That's what the magnetic confinement is for.

Even with that it doesn't work. You're always going to have a reactor that slowly eats itself.

That's not how heat works.
>>
>>62305664
That's exactly how heat works
It fatigues and stresses everything and eventually wears it out
Not to mention no fusion reactor experiments to date are net energy output
>>
>>62305664
There's several components that aren't even inside the field and fail because they just get too hot from having to make the field itself.
>>
>>62305680
Everything wears out but you don't say thing-x slowly eats itself. Replacing a heat shield every couple of years isn't a show stopper for nuclear fusion.

>no fusion reactor experiments to date are net energy output
It's inevitable to happen. Multiple projects already have a realistic path to demonstrate it.

You're all fucking idiots trying to sound smart. The issue is neutron degradation not heat.
>>

Reminder that nuclear fission worked perfectly well until it was regulated to death by the demand of scared female boomers.

>The issue is neutron degradation not heat
Now you spoiled it. I wanted anti fusion shills to come up with it.
>>
>>62305760
Neutron bombardment destroys the confinement walls and magnets. All components are bombarded in a fusion reactor. They don't have water surrounding then like a fission reactor to absorb the neutrons. So they degrade - and they are radioactive for years and years after being used up. Fusion creates more nuclear waste than fission
