When people say “I make 6 figures,” what exactly do they mean?
When I hear that, I usually just think the guy is making $110,000 max pre tax.

Do people making $200k or more also say they make “six figures?”
>>
in the us we talk about pre tax money

in most other countries they talk about post tax money. eu focuses a lot on take home per year. south america talks a lot about take home per month. they don’t make money in africa

>Do people making $200k or more also say they make “six figures?”
Is $200,000 six figures?
OP you're retarded
>>
>>62307141
No, but conversationly it is different. When people brag about “six figures,” I assume it is some poor person making $110k.
Get it?
>>
>>62307139
Exactly pre-tax.
My belief is someone making $200k say 200k instead of six figures.
>>
>>62307139
In other countries, we don’t reveal our income to strangers.
>>
>>62307166
Everyone is on edge in usa and trying to mog and flex.
>>
>>62307135
yeah same i also think like 105k when people say i make six figures kek

the tech geeks making 600k at meta never really say they make six figures
>>
>>62307157
You talk like a r3dditor
>>
>>62307135
its definitely sus af tbqhfam...very few things are quantified by stating the order of magnitude. this is money, not fuckin earthquake or sound intensity.
>>
Everyone that says they make 6 figures is in debt

A lot of employers put white collar workers just over 100k, it's about the minimum needed for middle class life, but it still carries some psychological sway as a "good" income, especially for genx/early millennials, who remember when 100k was basically doctor/lawyer income
>>
>>62307365
It’s a bit like "millionaire", you imagine the moustache man from Monopoly but today it’s just any boomer with a house.
>>
>>62307135
I usually say
>I made a quarter million last year
or
>I made a third of a million last year

I've never made more than half a million though, so that's as high as I go
>>
>>62307208
I'm not poor. I make six figures. Hope that helps.

>make 1000~ a week at job 6 days a week
>can pick up a second job for an extra 500
>can make another 20,000 from other sources of income like bank bonuses, credit card bonuses, selling yugiohcards online and sucking dick
>120,000 a year before taxes working 65 hour weeks
>>
>>62307194
600k is 6 figures, genius
>>
>>62307742
Damn, you are low iq. People making 600k will probably say anything but “six figures.”
>>
>>62307745

It means they make almost 90k before taxes.., probably about 68,500 net.
>>
All my friends are poorfags so I'm embarrassed to say how much I make.
>>
>>62307759

This is the correct post. lol
How many brokies are on /biz/?
They pretend to not understand the post while accusing others of being esl.
>>
>>62307166
it's actually the opposite. Americans are stereotyped as being very private about money whereas other countries are more open.
>>
>>62311079
This thread proves it’s not true. And there is no equivalent to "I make six figures" in other languages.
>>
>>62311079
Americans are the most culture-less country on Earth.
