How hard is accounting? I'm a journeyman plumber and need to get out of this shit.I'm don't think I'm booksmart enough to become a CPA but I want to be the first in my family to get a degree
>>62314843Extremely difficult, it's hard to make it. Working 80 hour weeks dealing with bullshit clients on bullshit deals. Much of it is theoretical bullshit and is highly annoying. The pay is just okaaaay I guess after accounting for the hours worked. What makes your job as a plumber so annoying or difficult that makes you want to get out of that shit?
>>62314843It seems AI makes this a bad idea, brain based skills, including trades, will have zero value in ten years. Many already do right now, like all the IT stuff. Don't let the few Valley salaries fool you, they are paying them off to do the last steps to replace themselves and everyone in IT. I recommend you learn about business memes, like red ocean, blue ocean, five forces, moats. Ownership contracts and geographical advantage are probably the last things that fall while mankind loses its battle against the rich.If I were you, I'd look into getting some energy intensive assets and security related certificates, and rent their operation out to people. For example, it's not that easy to replace an EV repair shop with a home robot, because of the certificates required to "safely" change a defective EV battery. So the guy with the fire extinguishing system in the shop, and the high voltage certs and all the stuff still wins, if no fully automated big corporate repair shop chain ruins his market. Some social relationship to your customers could be beneficial. How about getting into horse related services? Only the rich do it, so your customers get more money through AI, not less, no one wants a robot to teach his children how to ride. Or some meme physical therapy. A friend of mine got a license to do psychotherapy using psychoactive drugs, but that's Europe. Maybe your economic zone is working to allow this, too. Pretty AI safe, the law says a qualified person has to be physically present. They won't change that while AI unemploys people in the millions. And even if robots are everywhere, people want a real person present while being on acid, that's the whole trick. It's a new market, you don't need a boss, and in Europe, you can get it with 2-3 years of piss easy education. That's what I could think of right now. Best of luck.
>>62314843No offense, but I’d never let a former plumber do my taxes. You stick to snaking drains and let Ari Goldstein do the financial stuff.
>>62315004Didn't ask Also I'm going to do government accounting.
>>62315001wrong, normalfag skills will become obsoletebut if you're smart you shouldn't feel threatened by AI
>>62314843Bro just stick to being a plumber.t. Red seal welder with accountant dad
>>62315239A self-replicating, self-improving software made to replace people in almost every economic activity is an extinction level threat, even if good natured people like Alex Karp and Sam Altman own it.
>>62315457>good natured people like Alex Karp and Sam Altman own it.lol
