How many of you invest the "proper" way. Dollar cost averaging diverse, low cost index funds. Should I start trading options and crypto instead?
>>62315258after 5 years of no profits, i have become less retarded.I buy in steps, never go all in (max amount planned) on a stock. I always take profit whenever there is a big enough move (50% or 100%), even partially.I never buy overbought stuff. I stop myself from fomoing but i still do sometimes.
>>62315258Lump sum into an SP500 index fund and then DCA from there
>>62315258>index fund with 500 gorillion companies>the top 10 companies account for 40% of the market capI don’t need a so-called "low-cost" Vanguard fund if it’s just to hold Apple, Alphabet and Berkshire (who also owns part of Apple and Alphabet) stocks
Put in as MUCH as you can as EARLY in life as you can. That's it.I know it's a tired phrase, but time in the market absolutely beats (wrongly) timing the market.
>>62315258This man saved me and my mental health, majority of my holdings are in crypto but I have 6 figs in indexes thanks to him.I'm overweight equities though I need to rebalance 30% in bonds.Never doubt this archetype.
>>62315320you aren't overweight equities. you are overweight index funds. you do not own equities, again, you own shares of an index fund. they are not the same. youll find out soon enough.
>>62315338why will he find out? are etfs a scam according to you?
>>62315310That’s fine if you’re a wageslave, but a young entrepreneur should invest in himself and put all the money in his business
>>62315338bruh with IWDA the only thing I give away are the voting rights to blackrock and I forfeit my claim on dividends but because it's accumulatingI have proportional legal claims to the NAV of my shares.
>>62315367there is a heavy framework around physical replication, we're not talking about the synthetic "tax efficient" bullshit eurobanks like to peddleinsurance, up to 110% overcollateralization, separate custody...Yeah i'll found out, maybe, someday, soon(tm)
>>62315258I do after I realized how retarded the average investor narrative is. I’m too smart to understand retard meme buying which creates momentum so instead I just buy etfs and let the gamblers lose.
>>62315310hell yeah brother >>62315374bait? I'd say this is a meme unless you have a nice inheritance.
>>62315258You buy into anything at a market top and you are dumb, full stop. Stocks PMs and crypto are going to have a brutal time
Investing the safe and responsible way is super easy. Just buy VOO whenever you can. It tracks the S&P 500. The problem is that right now is a terrible time to buy in. Crypto is down right now and is a way smarter opportunity get a position.
>>62315397>too smart>I just buy etfspick one. if you were smart you would find alpha in the market. but you aren't so replace "too smart" with "I follow what everyone else does".>>62315535>safe and responsibleis buying over valued companies with no net income responsible? SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI are just the beginning. You really thought they were going to give you 6% compounded for the rest of your life. They are going to shove them down your throat and the only thing you'll be able to do is gasp, "V-v-oo and chill".
>>62315535Just close your eeys and do something like jumping off a cliffDumb dumb dumb>>62315515Don't buy into overvalued markets and assets
The truth is a lot of the best options tend to be simple and usually cheap or even free. But for some reason the average person doesn't think that way. He must buy overpriced shit that gives way worse value than something cheap or free. After all it's more expensive so it has to be worth more!
>>62315258I started doing that, then branched out into buying individual stocks after reading a few books, like Security Analysis and One Up On Wall Street.
>>62315556If you look at the history of VOO it has been getting at least 10% for decades. History is the best predictor of what will happen in the future. But again like I said things in stocks are way over valued right now so its not going to be a good entry time.
>>62315560>Just close your eeys and do something like jumping off a cliffIf you did enough research into crypto its not closing your eyes. Its a more informed decision. A smart long term play right now in crypto would be to buy a big bag of XRP and plan to hold it for awhile.
>>62315258All of my retirement accounts are in index funds because I'm not going to fuck around with that shit. I have a separate brokerage account that's mainly VOO, but I also throw a few hundred at other stocks here or there mainly based on vibes.
