Today I was talking with a group of people about AI and employment. I argued that AI could eventually create a permanent underclass of people whose jobs are replaced and who struggle to find decent work.

One guy responded with, “Heheh, just get a job making $90 an hour at an AI data center.”

I said, “Sure, that sounds okay.”

He replied, “Heheh, that’s actually the job I got.”

I told him, “Well, $90 an hour is pretty high income. You must have some valuable skills or experience.”

He told me his job title, but it was some technical position related to building or operating AI data centers, and I forgot the exact name. It was actually related to the technology I think and not blue collar labor but I am not totally sure.

I said, “Cool, good job.”

Then he asked what I did for work. The way he asked felt a bit sneaky, like he was trying to size me up.

I replied, “Oh, nothing. I just make $100 an hour doing nothing.”

The change in his attitude was immediate. His face darkened.

“No you don’t. Stop lying.”

I said, “What? When you told me you make $90 an hour, I just believed you. But when I tell you I make $10 more than you, suddenly you’re mad?”

He got even more upset.

“No way. You’re lying. Show me proof.”

I replied, “I didn’t ask you for proof. I just believed you. Wow. I guess you’re not actually that well off if you’re getting this worked up over someone making $10 more than you.”

At that point, you could tell he was triggered as hell.

What I don’t understand is why. He was already making $90 an hour, which I thought was a pretty respectable income. I even congratulated him for it. Yet when I said I made only $10 more per hour, he became extremely hostile and demanded proof.

Why would someone making $90 an hour react like this? If someone at that income level is this sensitive about money and status, what are people making less than that like?

Curious what people think was actually going on here

It is not enough that I should succeed, others must fail.

Was he a jeet?

>I AM MAD AND STUPID
>I am calm and smart
great powerfantasy op
>>
>>62316847
People usually don't like it when you lie right to their faces, especially if you act like you expect them to fall for it. You basically said "I think you're stupid and gullible" without saying it out loud. If you weren't autistic you'd know this.
>>
>>62316847
He sounds like the type of guy who brags about his pay to others very often because it's probably the only good thing he's got going in his life. So when he met someone that makes more than him doing less work he immediately go triggered.
>>62316860
That was my immediate thought too lol
Brown men are obsessed with money because it's the only way they have any hope of getting pussy in the west.
>>
>>62316879
What? I believed him.
>>62316860
No, he looked like non big city suburban white liberal guy. Kind of a dork. I think $90 an hour to him was a lot and if it was a lot, why get so triggered? Imagine getting so mad someone made $10 more.
>>
>>62316879
You are fucking stupid. I live in a big city. TONS of people that were in the top % decades ago and are even more well off now.
How poor are you? Poor people think everyone else is poor.
>>
>>62316886
You should have seen his soi face. He got all serious with me.
You would think someone making $90 would be chill but all it did was reinforce my belief that work is pretty shitty regardless of the pay.
>>
>>62316847
"permanent underclass" is the new bot indicator.

Probably. Nothing else in life but work and mortgage. I actually thought he was chill.

This reads like a TikTok AIslop script except at the end of the AIslop it explicitly tells the boomer what the moral of the story is and to share if they agree.
>>
>>62317004
So what the moral here?
The story here is that someone making $90 an hour was seething at someone making $100.

>I just make $100 an hour doing nothing
This was the point he knew you were full of shit. Those incomes are all about spinning how the nothing you do is all sorts of something and you couldn't even pretend to engage in it?

Was the sex good?

No, he overtly lied which basically asked the guy to call him out on lying so as to gauge if and how he would do so and the guy took the bait in the expected fashion (getting buttmad). It’s obvious and you’re kind of an idiot for not getting it.
>>
>>62317330
It happened cause I have these conversations everyday.
>>62317375
I told him how I did it. Why don’t you think it is possible? You’re mad.
>>62317463
Why is it bait? I live in a big city. You’re mad.
>>
>>62316847
For science, someone should tell them they make 85 an hour without having to do anything.
>>
>>62317707
Why isn’t that possible?

Why in your story do you phrase it as "doing nothing"? You told him how you "did it"? Not what you do for work? You continued that story claiming you berated him for not simply believing you when your manner of introducing the topic gave total bullshitter vibes. And this is just through text, I'm sure in person you give off even more tells that you're making nonsense up on the spot.

The nonsense isn't $100 an hour work existing. It's everything else about your story.
>>
>>62317916
If someone told me they make $500 an hour doing nothing, I would understand.

You don't seem like a person who understands human communication thoughbeit. I might lead with "I don't do anything" as a joke ever since I moved into management, but then we'd actually chat about work stuff because that's what guys enjoy doing. Apparently you just enjoy doubling down on "I don't do anything at all, don't question it." Very weird. Picking a number just above his is also very weird. Everything about your story sounds fake and gay.

What is your job, actually, by the way? You know, how you present it when selling your $100 an hour services to actual clients or a potential employer?

OP is some turdie who keeps making these fantasy larp threads, he doesnt even go outside
>>
>>62316860
This lol, it doesnt matter how much, his izzat takes a hit if you earn more than him for less effort.
If OP had said he earns $80 on something that sounds "professional", the jeet would be happy
>>
>>62317004
"Curious what people think" at the end of the wall of text is a hallmark of AI slop (when instructed to write engagement bait for Reddit).
>>
>>62318036
What are you talking about? When I was a kid, my classmate’s parents didn’t work either.
>>
>>62318060
Bro, it was definitely the “earn $100 doing nothing” that set him off but I already make sure to congratulate him multiple times on his $90 an hour before though.
>>
>>62318053
I like these retarded gay "bragging" threads, this guy sure does talk to a lot of people about financial matters on a daily basis
>>
I make $250 every hour on shitcoins
how do you respond without sounding mad?
>>

it's the nepo schizo. everything he has comes from mommy and he's just the family retard
>>
>>62318111
Ahh, so you don't earn $100/hour because that's not how passive incomes from investments work. So it turns out the dude was rightfully suspicious of your bullshitting.
>>
>>62318151
It usually is. Not here to reveal or dox myself but I got gemini to analyze one of my portfolios and one of them is like $100 a day.
>>
>>62318151
He wasn’t “suspicious.” He just straight up started talking shit. It was just “no you dont.”
