Are food trucks/stands profitable ? I’m a good cook and love to BBQ i wonder what startup costs and profits would look like. Anyone have experience running your own food stand?

My fear would be teens trying to knock it over or run off without paying

Yeah. I could see that being location specific problem. I was thinking dispensaries have taco trucks in my town and other states I’ve been to and stoners are slow. Community college was another location option and i could see that being more likely to experience grab and dashes. I’ll just need everyone pay before i hand them the food and maybe get a truck they can’t easily flip

Dont do it. Stupid high startup costs for something like BBQ. Youd be working 60hrs a week to make 80k/yr after spending 50k on startup.

>over 1/3 profit in first year
That’s really good. What business do you suggest that can beat that?

>getting permits and being in code depending on the county you're in can be a bitch
>big events like cons often want a cut of your sales on top of you usually having to compete with other trucks
>getting your name out can be difficult so you'll have to contact all kinds of customers and get leads for smaller events that risk not being profitable
>if you have staff then be ready to deal with some absolute retards because "lol service industry"
>food trucks are a pain in the ass to drive and maintain
A BBQ truck would be popular at any event but a safer bet might be towing a smoker on a trailer if you happen to have a vehicle that can haul it around.

White people are forced to follow every food regulation out the ass while blacks and browns can sell sloppa out of their car. Also bbq is a diamond dozen food, you'll find it hard to stand out and compete. Food trucks are mostly a meme unless you live in some hyper specific place with few restaurants but high demand peaks ( tourists flooding your area for some reason).

>ten year food wagie and I'd never open a restaurant or food truck
