what's the 'sensus on bank safe deposit boxes?
>>
>>62331158
shitty idea, if you get divorced or sued etc they can order the bank to open it for them
>>
Probably the worst opsec decision ayone could possibly make. Even giving the bank any money beyond any checks you have to write in the next pay period is dumb...much less physical assets.
>>
>>62331169
This. My bank account is a way station between my use and actual savings accounts. Banks deserve to be rekt completely
>>
As for Germany, the sense is that the government can get your possesion from the bank safe deposit box (Bankschließfach) in a case of need using the bank 2nd key to it. Case of need might be some court decision (Sozialamt, Unterhalt, Pflegefall, Scheidung/Divorce case), inflation, state bancruptcy, war need etc. How my grantgrantfather said, What no onen knows about you, no one can disturb (sabotage, do damage) you. ... Also can get robbed by burgulars like recently in DE, they cut holes from the cellar garage into a Sparkasse vault after get info+tech help from an employee there.
>>
>>62331158
They're not safe.

Just google theft from safety deposit box.
>>
only good as a backup for some paperwork
>>
>>62331371
I remember a news article from Germany from not that long ago where somebody drilled into a bank vault. It seemed to be a rather simple process as well. Lots of personal belongings stolen and everything not of any interest was thrown at the floor in a massive pile mixed together.
>>
>>62331158
Despite what schizophrenics on here say, I'm pretty sure they're insured so if they are somehow stolen from you're covered. Just don't tell your wife that it even exists.
>>
>>62331158
banks don't insure the contents of safe deposit boxes. they're basically worthless in terms of storing valuables.
>>
>>62331669
they are not insured, and 10 seconds of googling would tell you as much.

Govt can seize? Then 1h forest through 1m deep hole with memorised GPS coordinates is safer.
>>
Good for preventing everyday thieves. Not if they are the government or the banks, then it is the worst place to put it. My advice is to not put all your golden eggs in one basket. People here are saying they get robbed though. Thing is some people live in tornado alley. So that is another factor to consider.

This happened to most JP Morgan's identical tubes of gold eagles. They got confiscated because he had so much gold the collector's and jewelry loophole couldn't have worked even if he knew. He was so fucked that he shat out a gold ingot an they confiscated that too.
>>
>>62331840
I should point out that the government also went to JP Morgan's estate to get his gold. He was a too well known gold bug hoarder for them not to.
>>
>>62331158
Good to hold things like titles of property, degrees, keys…

Bad to store things with a monetary value, unless for a short period.
>>
>>62331517
This is literally the only thing I have mine for
Important documents only, nothing that has actual high money value
>>
>>62331669

even if they were, you want the metal, not cash

Honestly theft from a safe deposit box is pretty rare in the US. Yes, it happens, but compare that to the number of home break-ins.

If you're concerned the government or divorcing wife is going to seize your shit, fair point. But on the flip side if you have a healthy marriage and aren't hiding assets from your wife and have shit you want your wife to find then a safe deposit box is pretty good.

But otherwise, safe deposit box is pretty decent place to have shit:
>Bank vaults are tremendously fire resistant with sprinklers, rapid alerts if fire is detected, bank vaults themselves which are extremely resistant to temperature fluctuation.and banks themselves have minimal fire risk.
>There's flood risk, but not if you pick the right bank or pick a high box 7 feet off the ground
>If someone tries to break into your home or is in your home they get ass.
>If someone holds you at gunpoint and you're like "oh cool beans bro but my shit is in the safe deposit box and it doesn't open until Monday 9am assuming it's not a holiday" then they're getting butt.

"Oh they're gonna hold you hostage!!!"
Nah, they're not that sophisticated. That's hard as shit to do for an extended period. Especially if it's one or two dudes and not some criminal syndicate. It's hard as shit to hold someone hostage with no one noticing.

If you wanna pretend the Yakuza MS13 are hunting you ok cool but they aren't and if you are you're totally fucked
>>
>>62331894
Right, it's a good choice for something like a birth certificate or your will or something. Floods and fires and other bullshit happens all the time in a house. Spending $35 a year so someone doesn't accidentally throw out something important is handy
>>
>>62331669
Maybe don't get married in the first place. Or get a prenup.
>>
>>62331158
They're your safest bet, but I wouldn't pay for one unless I had a pretty serious build up of gold. Why pay a monthly fee for a box to hold my valuables that aren't insured if they get stolen? If you have a small amount of gold, like less than $20K, just buy a high quality safe that can't be easily stolen.
>>
>>62331158
Safe deposit box is covered by your homeowners policy but nobody here knows that because nobody here owns a home
>>
Buy a box and hide it in the woods like I might have done
>>
>>62332251
The theft is directly from the jeet bank employees retard. Every bank here in canada is run by jeets.
>>
>>62331158
Probably better now but our family lost items that would be valued around 12 million today... so hole in the backyard it is.

In times of crises, an entity other than you possesses your goods.
>>
>>62331158
99.9% chance it will be stolen
>>
>>62331158
If you don't hold it, you don't own it.

useless

>canada
lol
>>
>>62331158
gigatarded, never do this
>>
>>62331158
The biggest risk in the US is just the constant consolidation of bank real estate. Your safe deposit box location may not be owned by your bank in 5 years. Which could be a real pain in your ass.
>>
>>62331371
Why are Germans so fucking retarded? No one cares how you do it, it’s wrong by the simple reason that you can’t produce anything efficient. As soon as something t exists, you assume it as fundamental truth and stop thriving for innovation, hence your retarded culture of imposing and projecting your beliefs onto other people.

I unironically have my nazi war medals in a safety box at a bank. They are also insured.
>>
>>62332942
doesn't matter. have you ever asked insurance companies to pay up? try getting the policy to actually cover the value of stolen items. turns out to be a big mess.
>>
I always thought deposit boxes seemed cool as a kid. but then I watched a show about a bank break in where they drilled the boxes. they talked about how many people stored cremains in the box and now they gross me out by association.
>>
>>62331158
banks empty them without explanation
