how do I convince my parents to not sell their house?
"it went from $350,000 to $330,000 in 4 years, housing market is gonna crash! what? rent it? I don't wanna spend money hiring an agent to manage it for us!"
they can't seem to see the bigger picture here. when market crashes, property will still be here
>>
Ask them where they're planning on living and if they're okay with being worse off in their older age than if they just stayed.
>>
Getting given your parents house once they die isn't given. They need to enjoy their retirement playing slot machines and getting drunk while you're forced to wageslave.
>>
>>62342200
they'll be outpriced unless they can time the market which no one can
>>
>>62342207
>>62342222
However, theyre are very very well atuned sweet talkers for old people in every industry meant to extract boomer wealth.
>>62342221
This is also true. Dependent on "who you are" it might be better to release the weight of this if they are giving you early indications they're going to fuck you over.
Are you a millennial? You should both be used to this and see it coming.
>>
>>62342200
also, forgot to mention, this isn't the house they're living in, this is an additional property they own
>>
>>62342239
offer to manage it then. That's probably what they were angling for. Every old person I know wants to do no work and make a profit.
>>
>>62342200
>I don't wanna spend money hiring an agent to manage it for us!
say "dad, I'll do it online and for free, and will manage it, all the smart people on the tv say that cash flow is king"
>>
>>62342283
*gargle gargle suck* I'd LOVE to learn to build my own brand/business daddy, oh please- *strokes ego* etc.
>>
>>62342239
So why aren't you living in it? Did your parents really hoard properties without thinking about their offsprings future? lmao

Everyone I know with parents who had multiple properties were given one when they graduated to give them a good start in life
>>
>>62342200
they don't want to get rid of the house but it's the only way they can get you to move out.

desperate times call for desperate measures. They've got a failure-to-launch 4chan manbrat living with them and you just won't leave. Even worse you think you can give them financial advice even though you don't own a house.

Pack your bags kiddo, it's time for you to FLY!
>>
>>62342308
because last time I talked to my parents about this they essentially said "my rich friends who are all doctors and businessmen don't pay a single penny for their kids and their kids also turned out to be doctors and millionaires! I wish I wasn't the only mother whose sons don't make money! and you want to live your life on some rent? have some shame, lazy ass!"
yes, that's the beginning and end of their logic when discussing such a topic and they refuse to budge an inch
>>
>>62342323
They're right. Boomers aren't leaving shit to their kids and you guys need to come to terms with that.
>>
>>62342249
i also want that
>>
>>62342320
>>62342330
ragebait but I'll bite anyway. nothing else to do at the wagecage rn.
why shouldn't they help me out? boomers got all the help in the world and then some more, off the backs of the labor of the whole rest of humanity. on top of that, it's been customary for all of human history for multigenerational households to be a thing where the entire bloodline helps each other out under one roof. It's literally only the past 200 or so years that rugged individuality is becoming the norm (and obviously that only applies to the poor, the rich bankers get to get help whenever they want from the government)
why shouldn't I be fighting tooth and nail for my birthright when the boomers didn't have to fight at all for theirs and still they get even more than that and yet have the audacity to be entitled to even more?
>>
>>62342351
rage bait but I'll bite

boomers worked harder for what they have than you can even imagine. They know you're lazy and they don't want to encourage your extreme laziness by giving you stuff they worked their asses off for.

also you're entitled. You don't deserve shit, kiddo. Go out and earn your own stuff and then you can actually say you deserve it.
>>
>>62342200
>I don't wanna spend money hiring an agent to manage it for us!
around here most agents will manage it for what amounts to one month's rent
>>62342323
>only mother whose sons don't make money!
fentanyl is cheap, a little bit in her tea, oops mommy dieded
>>
>>62342351
also we don't really understand the idea of wanting stuff from other people

a real man doesn't want anything from anyone. We raised a bunch of pussies that want life handed to them. That was a mistake. You were a mistake
>>
>>62342351
you should have a reasonable discussion about this. present your arguments logically. say it will be worth it, that you will manage it and share the profit
>>
why would OP's parents want to go into business with a son who doesn't believe they worked for their stuff and that he's entitled to take it?

Not only would I not have him managing my house, but I'd probably kick him out and write him out of my will for being a slimy little thief.
>>
Landlording aint easy man. If you live in pretty much any blue state and like half the red states it aint worth it. You will deal with squatters and people who destroy your property on purpose and challenge you in court and a bunch of shit. My cousin had a literal meth head tenant who kept beating him in court and was unevictable despite literally flooding their unit and doing meth fueled DIY projects and just generally being a complete nightmare.
>>
>>62342323
When they get to that age where they start relying on you for help, maybe you shouldn't budge an inch either for those selfish fucks
>>
Alternative, if the market booms then even if you sell your house for more you will have to pay more for another one. Then when the market dumps, the new house is losing value.
>>
>>62342351
How about because life spans are long enough that my parents did t get an inheritance until they were almost 70? Why do you give a fuck when you will be waiting your entire life for it, make your own damn money
>>
Your parents are lower class.
>>
>>62342351
Fuck you zoomer pos.
You will ever own a house. Ladder pulled up also.
Fuck your entitled pos mindset.
Fuck you bitch. Work while we browned and blacked you.
>>
Market already hit the bottom in some areas like Austin, TX from the looks of it. Depends where you are I guess.
>>
>>62342351
> why shouldn't I be fighting tooth and nail for my birthright when the boomers didn't have to fight at all for theirs and still they get even more than that and yet have the audacity to be entitled to even more?
Damn. So glad we fucked you losers.
You don’t have a birthright.
>>
>>62342989
good point

given the range of life past normal life expectancy there's a solid possibility the parents actually outlive their children.

people forget their parents are probably only like 20 years older than them and a million times more successful.
