>tfw unemployed 1 year officially yesterday

working is a privilege in America now. I am in the permanent underclass
>>
How old are you? College?
>>
>>62350296
30 years old

bachelors in CS. 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience
>>
>>62350299
checked
58 here cant find a job for shit. been 2 years.
>>
Get a job in the defense sector, less jeets and foreigners, assuming you can get a clearance
>>
>>62350299
>bachelors in CS
There's your problem. Now don't fall for the next shilled bullshit. Do not try to get a skill. Learn to extract from and hurt people without skill, like everyone who is rich and powerful does, without exception.
>>
>>62350313
i wanted to do humanities in undergrad. Philosophy or lit but everyone said stem this stem that so i did something stem

fuck my life i would have learned more and had a better quality of life unemployed if i just majored in lit
>>
>>62350301
i see brother hopefully we find something
>>
>>62350293
gl living without unemployment benefits op. god speed.
>>
>>62350378
thanks fren
>>
If you get to the point that you can't continue anymore and want to kill yourself just remember that it's not your fault and there are people more deserving of death than you.
>>
>>62350373
philosophy degree is pointless, you can learn all that stuff online, unless you want to be an academic which you dont. all humanities academics hate their job
>>
did you acquire some new skills during this whole year?

some certifications?

did you create a website?

did you update your github?

if the answer is no then do you really think you deserve a job?
>>
>>62350373
why not do subhumanities? it would suit you more
>>
>>62350373
>1 year officially yesterday

KEK cant remember my last working day. must be decades ago!!

well you had you shot at life. why didn't you become an AI expert like literally everybody else?
>>
>>62350373
You literally can learn lit right now. Try major in business and later find out you can learn all of your classes online for free. All you get from non STEM is connections IF you worked hard for it before you graduate. LMAO how is this not obvious to you
>>
>>62350293
If you got dumped in the low hire low fire economy it means you're impossible to work with. Sorry, I know that hurts and is hard to understand but you need to fix yourself. Idk what the problem is but fix yourself and then start applying again
>>
>>62350293
>permanent underclass
If you don't reproduce you're only temporary underclass.
>>
1 year gap means its over? same boat
>>
>>62350293
it's pretty cool how unemployment barely pays anything and it runs out after 6 months. i think you really need to have a "living in an RV" backup plan ready to go at a moment's notice. living in the jewnited states of muttmerica economic opportunity zone as a labor force participant is truly hell on earth.
>>

>>62350296
YOu are very blatantly an old boomer with the way you delusionally post shit like "just become a defense engineer" or some shit like people just walk into fancy desk jobs, unless you're telling OP to bea zogbot in which case you're still probably a boomer.

Old people need to shut the fuck up already and leave the fucking internet. Can't have SHIT without some 60+ retiree trying to lectureus about shit it doesn't understand.
>>
>>62350502
That's freelancer, not salaryman. If he got positive revenue from the website, and if the project was capable of jumping through all the ridiculous governance hoops, that's entrepreneur level.
Lesson: If your industry demands entrepreneurial skills and not giving HR roasties the ick, leave immediately. You might be offended because of the "job market", but there is no other option.
>>
>>62350293
Jobs are disappearing and the bottom 90%, the underclass, keep falling farther behind.

Welcome. At least we poor people can have deplorable sexual relations with neurotic and retarded women.

I’m always worried about being laid off. I work as a middle manager in a huge corporation. don’t make a lot of money but I work from home, so it’s a fair trade off. many of my direct reports, who were part-time workers, were laid off 6 months ago and replaced with contractors in Latin America. I still have a decent number of domestic workers reporting to me but I know we’re all on borrowed time. I’m 42 and just hoping to stay on a few more years at which point I’ll have enough saved to survive for a long time. I’ve been thinking of going back to school even at my age if I could get law school paid for. but if I can’t, I’ll probably just subsist on my savings and investments.

>Now don't fall for the next shilled bullshit.
It would be shilled bullshit if it didn't work for over a decade. Tons of non CS background engineering grads went into software too because of how on fire that industry was in those times.
Hell, I'm pretty sure way more of my EE classmates ended up as SWEs than as hardware engineers. Not only did it pay more, it was way way easier to get software jobs. Even people that really wanted to do hardware would end up in software in those days because that's just where the hiring was happening.

my 1 year was last month. jobs are gay.
>>
>>62350373
If you're American, you'd likely ended up way worse off. America is a dogshit country if you want to work at anything other than whatever the corporate overlords demand at that time (as many CS people are finding out now that their skills aren't as in demand as before).
If you're from Europe, then yeah it might have been a better option. It's crazy how much people buy into the stem meme in Europe even though the rewards are fucking terrible to the point it is unironically better to just pursue a passion even if it pays less unless you are very poor and somehow can't bullshit your way into one of the countless welfare schemes and/or can't move to a cheaper location away from the rat dens where stem, finance, etc jobs are.
Why someone would put themselves into the corporate world in this continent for nowadays' peanut wages and dysfunctional work cultures is beyond me, unless it is something like an engineering job you genuinely love.
>>
>>62352776
you will be laid off soon, just don't check your Teams calendar on a daily basis
>>
>>62352776
oh btw, you will be happier once you are laid off and your really life will start

WFH + scared to be laid off = depression inducing situation
>>
>>62350373
Same, majored in ChemE and couldn't find a job applying to everything in all 50 states including the places in BFE that no one supposedly wants to work at. I really liked my honors philosophy courses though so at least my 3 years + concurrent got me started on solo learning that type of stuff while I sit at a desk for 3 of my 8.5 hours doing a job made for people with 70iq
>t. Post office wagie
>>
>>62352984
true. i quit my job and don't regret it, despite having an issue finding a new one. working is just pointless. i am much less stressed out and generally enjoy life more, though.
>>
>>62352996
enjoy freedom bro

dont forget to crash the company during your month / week notice
>>
>>62350876
This
Literally had some clueless retard lecturing everyone on giving employers THE FIRM HANDSHAKE on this very board the other day. Like you can even walk into their corporate offices and it's not an online hiring free-for-all with 10,000 jeets applying for every open job with every faked credential on Earth.
