Is it possible for gold to go back to 2000 dollars per ounce or lower?

Tell me why or why not. Thank you.

4k is the absolute bottom. If it went lower, central banks of third world countries would go crazy and start WWIII in the southern hemisphere.

Silver, however, can go back to 12 bucks an ounce because it is not a real necessity and can be replaced with copper. If you own any silver, consider it dead money at this point.
t. ~75+ oz of silver holder loser, but 2 oz of gold winner

the way that silver is used in technology is not interchangable with copper.

I think there is a lot of anticipation for a neck-snapping deleveraging event that could cause a massive sell off in everything. The problem with that would be a complete cessation of the credit system (in conjunction with housing, government tax/spend etc). Nothing would work anymore, which is one of the biggest threats to banking. They've telegraphed in the past that they will flood the economy with cash before allowing crippling deflation, so I would anticipate a lot of targeted "buying" to be happening by the Fed to keep asset prices high. I think there are a lot of people who would love a $2000 entry point for gold, and that includes nations and central banks and retail.

I believe it is possible because I cannot foretell the future.
I don't believe it is likely, however.
