Every car I've bought off Craigslist ended up being a financial disaster. I end up losing a ton of money, opportunities and the people at meineke and Firestone insult me. No joke. Literally poor retail service, they can't even wait till I leave before they mock me and make everything into some weird masculinity competition.

MEANWHILE

Every truck my stepdad buys off a Craigslist has an issue and he ends up just fixing it, getting parts from the junkyard or just jury rigging it. My mother goes and brings him food and they take breaks in the toolshed. Gets the trucks for cheap too like $600 - $1000.

What can I do bro's? I want to get a car but I know that I've been burned too many times. I want to cry. The car is a freedom symbol. Like your own horse. And yet. I'm just getting cucked. I can't take this anymore. I don't want to be a cuck. I don't.

Learn to be a mechanic
My dad taught me how to change oil filters, drum brakes, tires, all the easy type stuff. Now when my Nissan from Craigslist needs something like corroded battery cable I can do it myself
YouTube has all the videos I need usually
>>

Unless it's an engine or transmission issue in which case good luck. Last car I had, the diagnosis was that it needed a new fuel pump. You know where the pump was located? Inside the tank. No way to get it under the seat. Pontiac G6.
>>
Faceberg Marketjew is where all the good vehicles are these days. You actually get the normies who dealer maintain their shit instead of dealing with boomers and spics.
>>
>>62352793
Exactly what I did. Grew up learning on my own by reading Hayne's and Chilton manuals, using what I had available and buying tools as needed. Now 30 years later I have a full garage of all the necessary tools and with the help of the internet, the knowledge to fix just about any problem that might arise on my 3 vehicles.
>>

>buys a Pontiac
Holy shit nigger what are you doing?
Also git gud at looking at shitboxes.
>>
>>62352889
Easy, you either drop the dank, or a lot of people will just cut an access hole under the rear seats and then seal it up.
>>
>>62352902
Why should anyone who isn't a tradie be expected to do that.
>>
>>62352892
Unless it's an Engine issue or transmission. Or you just flat out need a new AC. Or the alternator went bad. $900 right there. Or the suspension is messed up.

Basically what I'm saying is many issues with cars will need a car lift for you to actually be able to do something. Which means you're going to a mechanic. Which means you got cucked because you're unable to perform.
>>
>>62352942
Because it saves money and I know that the job is done correctly, rather than trusting some retard who just wants to get it done as quickly as possible so that he can move on to the next job.
>>
>>62352486
>meineke and Firestone
There is your problem. Those places are rip off artists. You need to find an independent mechanic you can trust.

T. Mechanic
>>
>>62352957
Does a lift make things easier? Absolutely! It's certainly not required though. That's one thing I wish that I had, but don't. I've pulled engines and removed transmissions without one. All you need is a jack and some jack stands.
>>
>>62352486
Take it to a mechanic to get it inspected before you offer any money.
IF the seller doesn't agree then walk away.

Lots of dealerships will do a full inspection for $150-200.

That said I'm never buying a used car again. There is always something wrong with them unless it was one owner. In LA 99% of used car ads are salesmen, or salesmen masquerading as the original owners.

Bro just buy new or lease. Fuck these "just buyed used fags" pay for the peace of mind.
>>
>>62352486
You're buying new shit. Every single thing I bought off of Craigslist has been great and that's beacuse I know what to look for. If something even looks hand-made, I don't touch it. Don't keep it inside? I don't pay. Your problem is you probably want things newer than 10 years old, and that stuff hasn't undergone survivorship bias yet. You want the stuff that's ~20 years old like your father is probably buying because anything that lasts that long has been well taken care of.
>>
>>62353082
This anon knows what he's talking about! My newest vehicle is a 2017 and I still prefer my 1995 and 2010 since every system isn't integrated into a single infotainment/climate control cluster.
>>
>>62352486
sounds like you're retarded and dont know how to properly assess a used car. take your stepdad with you next time to kick the tires.

Do research on the most reliable used cars and ALWAYS get a pre purchase inspection from a mechanic shop.

Its not that hard. Stay clear of ameriturd and eurocraps and buy a Toyota or Honda
>>
>>62352486
Brother you're choosing the wrong vehicles. 2010-16 Lexus/Acura anything. You're welcome.
>>
>>62353264
>>62353278
Thank God there's some people in here that know what they're talking about.
>>
>>62352486
You're a nigger, so you shouldn't be allowed near a car. And I hope the catch you with the drugs and scammed EBT money.
>>
Buy manual hondas. They last forever with literally no maintenance
>>
>>62352486
Cars are not an asset.
>>
>>62353264
>>62353043
Won't people think I'm weird if I try to make them come with me to get it checked out by a mechanic? Also things go fast on Craigslist, while I'm trying to schedule an appointment to have a "professional" look at the car, some dude might be willing to show up within the next hour and just buy the car from them.
>>
>>62353645
just learn to work on cars.

even the shit people itt are saying not to do, you can learn. You can learn to fix engines, transmissions, differentials, AC, electrical, all of it. It's pretty easy stuff if a person isn't retarded. And all of it can be learned on youtube now so there's no real excuse.

once you know how to fix cars you won't need a mechanic to look at them. You'll be the mechanic. And the easiest way to learn how to fix cars is to take one or two of those junkers you bought and repair them.

Here you go nigger. This is literally my exact car, except I bought mine in 2019 with half the miles for the same price. Find a Toyota with 1 previous white owner, take care of it and you will never have problems
>>
>>62353932
>nooooooo don't get a car payment it's a scam

Getting a car payment was the best decision of my life. If you don't have $10k-$15k to buy a newer, nicer, better condition car flat out, just get a fucking car payment. People who tell you to "just get a craigslist beater bro" are literally trying to ruin your life.

okay. i swear it feels like everyone else somehow has a problem free car. guess ill just go the sisyphus route. better than nothing.
>>
>>62352486
Why not just ask your stepdad to go with you to look at the car next time you buy one? If he's that good at fixing up trucks he should be able to tell you if anything major is wrong with it.
>>
>>62352486
Ask your step dad to teach you about cars since you’re obviously an ignoramous.
Why even include the part about your mom? Is this some weird cuck fetish freak bullshit?
>>
>Fix car yourself!
>Spend thousands that you don't have on tools that you need and have no room to store anyway
lol
