106k doesn't actually seem like that much for two parents working full time and getting benefits and breaks from gubmit.>>62353363DC is always going to be fucked up because government jobs don't pay anything and the government doesn't give 'employee housing' as a benefit for some reason, and you have an infinity of browns in the city and metro area with a population closing in on that of new york or chicago because they want to curry (lel) favor with politicians, leading to housing costs being artificially high, plus there are a bunch of military bases like FT Belvoir and then you have the weird aversion to building apartments except in certain cities like Tyson's, which is next to the meme wealthy suburb towns like Vienna, or Reston which is next to the literal mansions for wealthy senators in Drainesville, so you have areas in Maryland and Virginia that should be housing but are instead playgrounds for rich people (like Clifton) and then shit public transport- a metro line out to Gainesville or down to Prince william would alleviate traffic and allow for more housing to be built but Fairfax County fucking hates it/hates nogs from DC.

>>62353363>>62354712Living alone is an extreme luxury, though, after the first person, the per person costs go way down, adding three more people to the household is essentially like cutting your housing, maintenance, security, insurance, and utility costs by 75% (before you get to all the ways the government subsidized marriage), its why poor people have roommates, it just comes at the expense of loss of agency and having to deal with a bunch of other people to make basic decisions and you might get roped into more transportation and health care issues (on the other hand you could get a bunch of free transportation and healthcare benefits) based on luck and choice of household members.
