Two Japanese companies, Kanto Denka and Central Glass, have formally notified major clients—including Samsung, SK Hynix, and TSMC—that they will permanently cease production of tungsten hexafluoride starting July 1, 2026.The core reason for the shutdown is a disruption in raw material supply. Between 60% and 70% of the production cost of tungsten hexafluoride comes from high-purity tungsten powder, a material Japan is almost entirely dependent on China for. Following China's tightening of tungsten export controls in early 2026, shipments of high-purity tungsten powder to Japan have effectively dropped to zero. The Japanese companies managed to keep production going for about five months by drawing down stockpiles, but ultimately failed to secure an alternative source.Meanwhile, stock prices of related Chinese manufacturers have soared.
>>62354099I sold. Thanks, comrade. If there's one thing that gets investors running, is the potential of slightly decreased profits.
>>62354099It's crazy how perfectly China got positioned for world dominance. I hope that automation brings back factories in America.
mining asteroids will fix this
>>62354595World dominance until one of the countless other countries with REE reserves take advantage of chinks willingly giving up their monopoly. I give it 8 months.
>>62354639No other country has the resources and talent to refine and extract rare earths at the scale China does. It’s literally impossible
There's plenty of tungsten in Canada, but it's more cost effective to open a copper mine in Peru or Congo and pay the workers 5$/day so no one is ever going to restart tungsten mining up here.
America is such a worthless fuckstain of a country WHY IS MY USAR STOCK ONLY 20 DOLLARS INSTEAD OF 200 YOU FUCKS
>>62354595boomers are not going to do anything that enables society to exist after they die and millennials are useless because all they do is complain how things 'should be' instead of grabbing a gun and holding it to their 65yo dad's head and telling him how things 'will be'.
