the fisherman is retarded and will be screwed once he has an emergency to attend to
>>
>>62354286
everyone lives for a short time
what a person does with that time is their business

if you want to spend it fishing that's fine
if you want to spend it building a fishing fleet that's also fine

one thing is not inherently better than another. Both are perfectly acceptable, and it's up to each person to decide what they want to do with their time, should they have that luxury.

also most people don't live in a society where they have either option. Most people don't get to choose what they do most of the time.
>>
>>62354286
Forgot the part where the government agent comes and demands 30% of the fish and an additional estimated fish contribution within 90 days based on the total fish caught last year.

Cope. The rich rule the poor. We could make a BDSM-themed restaurant called Facefuckers and spread if across the country if we want, just to mess with you. You can't do SHIT.

he should do what the industrialist says but stop after the motor and the nylon nets and enjoy a better life than before without having sacrificing himself to money.
>>
>>62355094
you don't usually find the sweet spot until you've gone well past it
>>
>>62354286
But that parable doesn't make any sense?
He still has to fish many hours a day. After that he can enjoy a few hours of rest, yes. But if he busted his ass and fished 12 hours a day he could retire after a few years, having the entire day to himself. Also he wouldn't have to fear fishing robots replacing him in the near future. It's not about being rich, it's about being free.

>*ok give up your modern luxuries*
>"NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
>>
The issue that youre missing is the industrialist sees inefficiencies (you enjoying a decent standard of living) as potential profit. He will buy these nets himself, overfish to the point you cant catch a sardine in your little boat and undercut/make exclusive contracts in spite of you to drive you out of the competition. In the end you'll have no choice but to work 14h shifts on his big boats for less than you were making when you spent half your day smoking on the shore.
>>
>>62355255
obviously not true in practice since the US alone has tens of millions of small lifestyle businesses that could easily be made more efficient if you could just get the professional fishermen to go to work for you

the industrial consolidation fails simply because most people working for themselves would rather die than go work for someone else. And there aren't enough skilled professionals lining up to do their jobs since they're all busy working for themselves. You could perhaps train people to replace them, but as soon as they find out how much they can make on their own, they leave.
>>
The problem is explicitly that you can't do that in the modern goyconomy.

>William Bradford, Of Plymouth Plantation 120--21
>1623
>
>All this while no supply was heard of, neither knew they when they might expect any. So they began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop than they had done, that they might not still thus languish in misery. At length, after much debate of things, the Governor (with the advice of the chiefest amongst them) gave way that they should set corn every man for his own particular, and in that regard trust to themselves; in all other things to go on in the general way as before. And so assigned to every family a parcel of land, according to the proportion of their number, for that end, only for present use (but made no division for inheritance) and ranged all boys and youth under some family. This had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any means the Governor or any other could use, and saved him a great deal of trouble, and gave far better content. The women now went willingly into the field, and took their little ones with them to set corn; which before would allege weakness and inability; whom to have compelled would have been thought great tyranny and oppression.

>The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years and that amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato's and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing; as if they were wiser than God. For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For the young men, tha

Wtf are you even on about? You either work for your boss or a customer.
>>
>>62354286
It's a good story, but in reality you can't afford to sit around because it costs money just to be alive. Seriously a roof over your head and things like that. Rent, or mortgage, or property tax. It's crazy. That money isn't going to come from thin air. You have to constantly stay moving to stay on top of things. I almost think that's part of our mandate as humans from a higher entity to teach us discipline and wisdom.
>>
>>62362536
>You have to constantly stay moving to stay on top of things
The question is why?
The answer, you know it...
