Hello /biz/ I will try and keep this brief
Currently I have been investing most of my take home pay simply into VOO as I only just recently started investing
It seemed simple, solid mid-long term option, and sensical for starting out to not fuck up while getting exposure
Now, this has nothing to do with FOMO, but I’m wondering if I should start aiming towards investing in either specific sector ETFs or maybe specific stocks to chase higher returns
My portfolio is currently at $60K mostly in VOO, perhaps with enough DCA I can reach $100k by years end or at least close to that, depends on growth
Currently my total portfolio return ranges from 17-20% depending on the month for context
I’ve seen recently how well things like SOXX have been doing and was considering finding a sector ETF or two to go into since I already have so much broad market exposure
To be clear, this is not me chasing returns based off past performance, I am well aware growth has to come from somewhere and is not infinite so I’m considering CAGRs as far back as possible
With all this in mind, any recommendations? Find a good sector ETF, go into a specific stock, or maybe just focus on getting more income first and then continue to just VOO and chill
And no I don’t wanna sell options doing covered calls or buy your shit coin etc etc
I should add the sectors I’m interested in are semi-conductors, energy (ones that deal with technology needed to cool data centers), and perhaps drones / nuclear for commercial and military usage

Recreate the ETF so you avoid paying management fees.. Not super relevant for VOO, but if you go into niche sector specific ETFs, the management fees are usually over 0.5%
>>
>>62369867
Not sure how I feel about the triple leverage with SOXL can you red pill me on it, it’s the same deal as QQQ vs TQQQ or whatever the hell it’s called right
But otherwise you’re just advising do some tech and semiconductor either way
>>62369880
Fair point I’ll consider that

I need a young emo woman with big titties that loves me unconditionally, fugg. but I'm afraid of intimacy and I have a lot of insecurities about my height, dick size, body odours and I don't know what love is. I have deep appreciation for my family and loved ones but I don't really love them. I'm too schizoid. I miss the touch of a girl

You need to study hoemath's content thoroughly and if possible invest the 30 bucks into his self max product. I have been watching his live sessions for the past week and boooy oh boy did they open my eyes to the mistakes i was making. Anyways you either work on yourself or drift aimlessly not getting what you want and nees so its up to you big guy
>>
Yeah looking into it more I think I’ll start DCA a bit into SOXX, if it eventually goes down I know it’ll rebound

Honestly man, the amount of effort it takes to beat the SP500 (or NASDAQ, which is even a bit better recently and imo long term from now on) is relatively high. You see countless examples of lifelong financial/investing experts who would have done better if they just did nothing but buy the SP500 and sit on it.

I'm invested more heavily into semiconductors and AI stocks but that's because I have industry knowledge. Industry knowledge can help you determine what is and is not good for long term investing. But then again, I also have industry knowledge in medicine and I won't touch biotech/pharma stocks with a ten foot pole.

Yeah I was considering just going into QQQ and accepting more ups and downs
I don’t know if it’s the best comparison but comparing it’s CAGR to VOO it has either outperformed or tied with VOO recently
Obviously the down years are way worse but again that’s why I am using CAGR as my comparison basis
It seems like this AI shit isn’t going away any time soon leading to something so focused on the top of the market like QQQ seeming more enticing
>>
>>62369835
Basically I want to be your boyfriend or just glorified cockcleaner while both of our ports build up to 100k (but mine faster than yours but that's okay)
>>
Also my portfolio currently sits at $61,000
I have a goal of reaching 100k by year end
There’s 174 week days left in the year, ignoring market closed due to holiday
100,000 - 61,000 = 39,000
39,000 / 174 = 224
224 / 61,000 = .003
So
If my math is right
My account only needs to grow .3% per market day to reach 100,000
61,000 * 1.003^174 = 102,728
Am I correct here
>>
>>62371385
>It seems like this AI shit isn’t going away any time
It's not, this shit is going to fundamentally change most industries in a way that most people cannot even understand. Its primary limitation is just that older generations can't adapt to it, which means it has naysayers now and a clear path of progressive growth over time, similar to computing decades ago.

It's not just AI though honestly. These companies are the future. With population growth leveling out worldwide, there's not going to be a sudden expansion of demand for food, for minerals, for many traditional industries. NASDAQ is better primed for investment in future tech, hence why I prefer it. Or tech ETFs like VGT, but those are less diversified. Just sinking 50/50 into SP500 and NASDAQ might be fine for you to let it ride

Going over this one last time, Nasdaq has been eating S&P’s lunch, but only because mega cap tech stocks have had a great decade
Additionally, it isn’t that VOO has had bad returns, since it crosses over into a lot of QQQM, just that QQQM is more volatile
So basically it’s a choice on whether you believe the companies doing good will continue to do good with the current market and AI trends, and how volatile you’re allowing your portfolio to be
>>
>>62371737
Brother, I’m just an anon on this dead basket weaving forum, but this isn’t 1970 or 2010 or even 2020. Get the fuck out of VOO.
