I make $28/hr as a Fire Alarm Inspection Technician. I have 2 licenses and 4.5 years of experience:-FASA/BASA-NICET Inspection and Testing Level 2
Going for the NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level 1 license in the next 2 months or so. Will hopefully get to $30/hr.
>>62381049*chirp*
>>62381049is that a fun job? sounds comfy desu
>>62381060That's a smoke alarm. They are usually independent of a fire alarm system in a building.
career?
>>62381078Physically, the heaviest thing you'll carry is a ladder, or a roll of wire. Maybe a box of batteries too. Definitely the easiest sub-field in the electrical trade. You drive around to different cities each day and inspect or repair the systems in each building. Job security is there since it's regulated infrastructure and needs to be maintained/inspected year round.
>>62381085I'm sorry NEET kun, I forgot you browse this board too.
I make 34$/hr as a wastewater operator. Paid to babysit an automated plant. Cozy AF but still feel like a wage slave.
>>62381049Bro needs a liocense to listen for a *chirp* XD
>>62381113>Job security is there since it's regulated infrastructure and needs to be maintained/inspected year round.surely that regulation will never change
>>62381049I MAKE $60 AN HOUR CUMMING ON MILF TITTIES
We had a fire alarm test a work. A 3 story office building. As soon as the sirens went off a sprinkler let go in the cafeteria. We had to work from home for like 3 weeks. It was great! What causes this? I though the sprinkler only goes off if it had heat.
>>62381049Im a NEET but I did a typing test yesterday and suddenly feel like becoming a court reporter would be a comfy job desuToo bad it's apparently not even correlated to WPM on a normal keyboard
>>62382172Fire alarms systems are separate from sprinkler systems for the most part. There are certain sprinkler devices that interact with the fire alarm system, but generally if a sprinkler goes off, it's because someone broke the bulb on it, or the heat caused the liquid in the bulb to expand and break it.
>>62382261Hmmm you made me think more about it. The one that went off was on the second floor, but directly below it was the main entrance. I wonder if that one is controlled by the alarm so people can use the main entrance as an exit if there is a fire.
>>62381049Weekly hours? Opportunities for part time at that rate?
uhh i make $23 an hour but its salaried with decent vacation and low social interaction
>>62381049terrible im unemployed for 7 months and cant get interviews at best buy
>>62382303Anywhere from 35-40 hours with overtime coming regularly during some stretches of the year. As far as I know there is no part-time role.
>>62382290Sadly, as cool as that would be,you can't control which sprinkler goes off unless you light a lighter under it, or break it with a hammer haha
>>62382184Pretty comfy, but its closer to learning an instrument and you might have to sit in court all day depending on what you are doing. Not a court reporter though. Also the equipment is kind of pricey. But, you can get deals on student gear.
>>62381049In like 1973 you’d be based. You are a fag now.
>>62382484Why 1973?
>>62381049I make over 90k as an IT Manager for a multi-state company with around 180 employees. No certs, no degree. They were a companies client I worked for and they were impressed with my work. You and I are not the same.
>>62382522How did you get started?
>>62381049career?
180k operations manager. Adult babysitter. Plan to be retired in 5 years if investments keep going the right way, sick of this shit.
I make ~$30-50/hr CAD delivering pizza depending on the shift, but I top out at 27 hours a week.
I inspect different warehouses for inventory of different stock. Basically just write numbers on a count sheet and then submit it. Get paid 100k/yr plus I got 160k in stocks in tax free accounts. I guess it beats micromanaged cubicle white collared work and back breaking blue collared labor. Just gonna do this until I can retire in my mid 40s
Not great> I used to be a great coder with bad soft skills> AI has made soft skills more important than coding> I hate sitting in front of a computer all day but it pays at least 3X what I could get in a more physical job
>>62381049i'm a software engineer, fucking hate it because i got promoted beyond the point of writing code. i actually love writing code and i just want to build shit, but now that's no longer my job and it's pretty fucking gay all around
>>62382786Writing code is extremely boring with Claude anyway, and refusing to use it is not an option
35 an hour doing monkey data entry (accounts payable) at a hospital. I have a bachelors in accounting and this is my first entry level job. Before this I worked at an Amazon warehouse. Took me a whole 5 years to get an office job. I barely tried though so it’s my faultt. 28
>>62381049I've been stuck in public service for 12 years doing work I hate. I recommended my coworker who turned out to be a complete fucking idiot once he started working here. Hes going to get us both fired. I have missed out on better opportunities here because I am too nice and didn't advocate for myself. Its all so tiresome.
>>62381049Have you identified which government regulations secure your job?Seems like an important thing to know.
>>6238104927m, 150k, fully remote. on track to become senior and make ~180kswe
>>6238104924m$45/hr as a Information Management/Technical Consultant. Been at it for 4 years:-Mostly just showing people how to organize data and operate basic proprietary corpo programs.-90% of the work is physical (walking in, seeing something has obviously been done wrong, fixing it)Job security is that people will always have trouble with the machines they use on a day to day basis. People will always be stupid and mess things up.>>62382184On the equipment side, stenotype's have been around since the 1910's so you can easily get comfortable with the layout on a typewriter from the 1950's for $30.>>62382303>Weekly hours? It's rural, my usual is roughly 30 hours. I get calls from 100+ miles away who are willing to pay enough to have me come out and teach.A lot of the extra dough comes from just claiming what the company wants to through out tech wise, then wiping and reselling their entire server (made in 2021) online or in person through third party marketplaces. Make about double what the hourly is with that.>>62382530>how did you get startedI joke to a lot of the upper class clients "no one hired me, so I hired myself">>62382877Is it niche work? How do you prevent your job from getting jeeted out?
>>62382899>Is it niche work? How do you prevent your job from getting jeeted out?we have some foreign contractors but we have a shit ton of funding covering burn so we can afford to hire citizens. it's not a unique business but we're niche in our approach and field (data/ai). we're actually hiring right now.
33m 110k a year working in crypto, remote.Workplace changed from based and nice to kinda idiotic thanks to poor business decisions, AI brain rot, and limited runway.I'm trying to change but everything else pays like shit or is a cult. IT makes me want to kill myself at this point. I have golden handcuffs I just want to find a way to accumulate so much capital that I can live off dividends.
32k CAD ($20.25/hr) after being at WMT for 10 yearsI know it's not the best job, but it's low effort, my coworkers and bosses and customers love me, and I can keep working sustainably. I've managed to get about 140k CAD net worth, too.
>>62382530Basically I got hired from a craigslist posting for a middleman tech company ran by some bulgarian. He would send us out to clients and pay us less than half, scalping the rest. I have a legitimate interest in tech and build things with hardware, networks and software so some of these places I helped set up and was friendly helpful to them. It also let me learn the missing parts of each field and then I was able to piece it all together. Since they were the clients, I would interact with the CEOs, Owners and top end leadership of each company. You vibe well with them and not be inappropriate (hitting on, trying to get numbers, be a creep) they will want you, even do power plays to get you. I quit the middleman cause he would send me to do shit that gets paid 170k salary (85/hr) and pay me 21/hr and scalp the other 64, while not helping me really. I was able to chill for a year, then i reached out to one of these clients and they picked me right up. Since they wanted me, I had the leverage to negotiate a higher salary, which they had no problem paying. They liked me so much they just have me run the whole IT department, I dont even really have oversight. I do have to know my shit, but AI makes it 1000x easier and if you arent using AI you arent gonna make it. Literally complete tasks that would take months to do in days. These guys can't even fathom that kind of efficiency so they think im busy all the time. AI is literally a cheat code, especially if you know your shit and use it to do that shit. I'm close to 6 figs starting, will easily hit 6 figs after solve some of their money loss headaches (which i have done for a major part).>Getting interest from potential employers gives you huge leverage, esp if they know you are a game changerThe best part is I asked if I could start my own projects for learning, that they would benefit the company and the CEO is hyped for it. I am literally getting paid to self improve
>>62381049I'm a warehouse grunt $20 / hour How do I even go up from here? Maybe a forklift license?
I make 31 an hour doing quality assurance for asphalt and I think about killing myself every day.
>>62381049I make $29/hour driving the city bus.I have a class B CDL.While the pay is nothing special, the benefits are incredible, the hours are great, and the company overall is a dream to work for.I plan on leeching every last cent I can out of this place before getting a fat retirement in 30 years.
>>62382153It won't, everything has yearly inspections
Oh yeah its going fucking awful. I make $23/hr annoying people at their homes. I fully expect to be killed one day doing this but someone's gotta do it
$48 per hour? Thats $2000 per week. You can buy otm SPY contracts and double your weekly net. The issue is. Nobody want to work learn a life changing skill outside of their job because theyre so mentally exhausted from everyday distraction & life. We call ourselves the 1%'ers
>>62381049late 20's, 120K in business analytics. It's an adult daycare but the pay's good, feels bad going in the office once a week tho. There are some qts around but that's just about all my social interaction for the week. My dream is to keep the same amount of pay but work in another country in another time zone, but that would be rough. Seriously thinking about it one day
i make $130k base + 15% bonus target as a corporate accounting manager. i'm underpaid by like $20k/yr but i'm fully remote so i accept it. kind of wish i had done law school instead.
>>62381049Just bombed a senior product manager and coordinator interview.I talk too much and don’t get to the point. That’s the direct feedback I got, which is true.I have another offer I already accepted at a faang company though. It’s lower level and need to move though.
>>62383520>It’s lower level and need to move though.are you going to do it? i can't imagine moving for work in the year 2026, when these big indianjewnigger companies can (and do) blindly lay people off all the time.
>>62381049100% stuck at a job I hate that boring as fuck most days and the few days where I actually need to work I bust my ass off all day because my retarded managers will fuck the schedule up and have only one person on to do three peoples worth of work. I lucked into a middle management position though in a field with basically no mobility so I can't really leave without taking a huge paycut. Make $36/hr which feels like nothing because I also live in a pretty expensive area.
>>62383096Whatever you want anon. Start a business on the side or smthg.>>62383530I will because can’t take the current company anymore or I will Elliott Rodger someone in Minecraft.
>>62382822Commerical and residential buildings in my state literally cannot be occupied if they don't pass a fire inspection
I deliver mail for 30 bucks an hour. Paid for 8.5 hours usually done in 5-6, it's a weird evaluated quazi salaried thing.
>>62381049Early 40s, trapped in a flyover shithole making $80k in data analytics. Entry level title with a senior-level workload and enough experience to at least land interviews for data engineering roles with some regularity, though there are only a handful of openings in my area each year. I'm pretty frugal and on track to be able to semi-retire in Asia within a few years which is looking increasingly likely given the state of the job market and my career.
i'm a family doc and make ~130/hr. it sucks but at least my schedule is condensed into 4 days a week and i'm hoping to retire in 9 years.
>42>middle manager but my job is going to be outsourced in the next year or so>110k before taxes>live in New York suburbs so it’s actually not as much moneyI have a lot invested and saved so when I’m axed it’s tempting to just try to survive on that instead of working again. no family to support and I inherited the house I live in with no mortgage.
>$37/hour salary equivalent post taxes and $1k a month 401k contribution is this good
>>62384184Depends on CoL in your area, but it's better than most.

I'm definitely the defender though. Not sure how to upgrade but also keep up with my artistry which I feel is my greatest passion and inspirationAt the very least I feel teaching your children music and related science opens up their mind to a lot of thinking

>>62381049I'm 39m and a farmer. My dad retired about 10 years ago and I have taken over everything since then. Before then I had been working for him since I could walk pretty much. I remember the time before roundup ready beans and I spent most of my summers pulling weeds.I made about $250k last year and my living expenses are about $10k. I live in town and own one of the cheapest houses in the county because my dad wouldn't let me live in a yurt in the grove. I drive a '78 F-150 I paid $400 for when I was in high school. Anyways outside of planting and harvest I work about 3 hours per day and spend the rest of the day shitposting, checking my stocks, playing playstation 2, watching my sitcom DVD collection, and playing a round of golf at the local muni.
>>62381049I make 60$ an hour to respond to passive aggressive emailsI got one waiting in my inbox rn.
$16 an hour at a dead end non-tech job even though I have a degree and some certs. I am the go to IT guy in my family which sometimes pays, the other day I installed a new hard drive and cleaned the pc for a family member. I didn't even ask for money since it was such a simple task but she gave me 60 bucks for it since that is what a store was going to charge her.
>>62381049110k senior security consultant, wfh, unlimited pto, 4 years at the global company, burned out for the last 1.5 years but can't afford to quit because I got the job straight out of college through internship and I have no idea how to get another job because I refuse to do any certs or practice interviewing.
>>62388275Why do you not have a job with your degree? Are you applying?
>>62388200I envy the cheap pickups people can buy in farm country. on Long Island everything succumbs to rust almost immediately or is sold within the closed Spanish-speaking illegal community, so is impossible to buy.
>>62388291Yea I've sent out over 350 applications. I've gotten my resume reviewed and edited by the alumni career services team, family members, and people in the industry. I have a home lab and document everything. I am not being picky and am willing to even take a job that pays less if it's in something tech related. Honestly it's gotten to the point where I'm close to giving up and just going to door knock for Andrew Yang so I get UBI.
39$/hour as a masonry laborer.I started at 25$/hr in the company’s office, where I used my tech skills to build website stuff, learned and ran Google Ads and got some work for the company, which progressively rewarded me with raises.I ran out of work at some point due to it being a small company so I was put in the field as a laborer. Now I do grunt work but get paid the same.Although I’m not “growing”, this job feels like most feasible path for me to build my own construction company. I’ve already done jobs on the side and have my LLC open, website, SEO going on.I want to scale my company to 10-15k/month net, but have been running into lots of cheap people when estimating jobs. It is a game of consistency, and sooner rather than later I can see my GBP with many reviews bringing me an organic pipeline of jobs, as well as eventual institutional/commercial contacts I meet here and there giving me consistent and higher margin work.
