Anyone that bought homes over the last 10 years has no concept of the magnitude of the level of debt they have.

Imagine 400k to 900k mortgages on cookie cutter homes with no space between them. This is just fine in the mind of the average leaf.

Let me be clear, they are never going to pay it off. Never. They think because everyone else has a big ass mortgage that its fine. It took me 17 years just to pay down my 228k mortgage to 68k where it is now. How the fuck do these people think at 38 with a 500k mortgage they can pay it down by the time they retire? LMAO.

Fucking totally disconnected from reality. Millions of us.
>>
im sick of this being a thing, just fucking crash already. I have to deal with crashes 100 times a year as a crypto cuck but everyone else in the world with their houses and their gay stocks is just driving off into the sunset. make it make sense nigger
>>
>>62382765
their retirement plan is your pic
>>
>>62382788
I find this pick really depressing because it reminds me of my parents. They are just in another fucking world. You cannot convince them that anything is wrong.
>>
>>62382768
Probably because houses and companies have value while crypto is useless and does nothing at all
>>
>buy bitcoin 2015
>???
>buy house

what was so difficult?
>>
>>62382765
The sad thing is that the pod in the pic related doesn't even have to say "MAiD" on it for everyone to know what it's supposed to be.
>>62382788
I'm convinced MAID is some kind of scam to prevent wealth transfer from boomers to their kids; there's no way it could enjoy as broad support amongst boomers (leaf boomers are the most selfish on the planet) if that wasn't the case.
Probably the idea is spend everything, leave nothing, and jump in the death pod when you're tapped out.
>>
>>62382765
They didn't plan to ever pay it off, inflation eats away at it and they'll roll it into their next house.

Or at least that was the plan before the bubble popped and they all went $200k-500k underwater.
>>
400K CAD is something like 250K EUR
>>
Just rent?
>>
>>62383966
The median household income in canada is like 40k euro. People have no idea how fucked this country is, they're still going off of marketing from 20 years ago.
>>
>>62383992
I know i was working remotely for a company in Quebec and we all got laid off 3 months ago
>>
>>62382768
They won't let it crash. BC has gotten rid of all businesses since it's bad for environment and were living on the housing market and US tech sector. Now both is gone so fed need to bail them out. We've already seen them changing the laws so you can't force sell because you're missing mortgage.
No wonder Alberta had enough.
>>
The market was supposed to crash in 2023/2024, but the government flooded the country with immigrants to keep prices high
>>
>>62383964
Did it pop?
>>
>>62382765
Paying it down makes you poor.

Housing-as-investment needs to crash and die off permanently. So much wealth and productivity is wasted on paying for retardedly overpriced nonproductive shitshacks. Pricegouging wooden boxes just kills the rest of the economy and makes people stop giving a fuck about anything.
>>
>>62384170
Any kind of land-as-investmen needs to be regulated to hell. There's downtown office space in Toronto that has been sitting empty for YEARS. You're telling me no one wants to open a business in downtown Toronto in YEARS? Fuck land hoarders.
>>
>>62384170
My wife does corporate taxes. You should see the rent bills and property taxes that small businesses have to pay. Businesses cannot grow here for this reason unless you are mega rich or a megacorp..
>>
>>62382765
>400k to 900k CAD
So what? 80k in real money? Not so bad
>>
>>62382788
Rich people will always be the first to kill themselves
>>
>>62386907
Yeah he's full of shit. Even in bumfuck nowhere it's at least 2x as much for a shitty roach infested closet.
So 160k in real money. Not too bad, but then again so bad it's still not worth it.
>>
>>62382765
This is why I laugh when people say that home prices in USA are going to stabilize or go lower due to (reduced?) demand. We have a lot further to run and I won't be surprised if the average home price doubles in 10 years.
>>
>>62382765
Theyre DINKs and youre an incelnigger.
>>
>>62384170
The government wont let it Mark Carney is gonna remove the foreign buyer ban. So REITs, Blackrock and Blackstone can come in to buy up all the condos and houses that are not selling.

>>
>>62389093
They can buy them all they want, they'll lose money every month without an increasing population. Houses aren't like stocks, they're a money pit of taxes, maintenance, insurance and security. They can't afford to hold onto empty houses.

>It took me 17 years just to pay down my 228k mortgage to 68k where it is now.
>what is an amortization schedule?
>>
>>62389280
They don’t have fixed rate mortgages
>>
>>62382765
what's that in US dollars, $200k or something?
>>
>>62389347
450k usd for a typical start in a town of 15,000 people
>>
>>62389333
Their interest payment still depends on remaining principal
>>
>>62389354
at those prices the US is going to invade canada one house at a time.
>>
the country is over, its going to be an owner-worker feudal type dichotomy maintained by streams of recycled immigrants. there will always (even with AI) be low skill physical work to do for cheap indian labour. white boomers have already "left" in the sense that they bear no national pride or identity and winter in Mexico/overseas. the media will just continue its delusional gaslighting campaign to paint the situation as "inclusive" or "diverse community" or whatever. I've been all over the world and there are literally billions of people that would drop their family and life in Cuba, Nepal, India, Myanmar whatever to come here and scrub toilets for 10$/hr and the government knows it. Look at UAE. 10M population where 8M are immigrants with no rights that work for the 2M citizens. In 50 years canada will be an open pit resource extraction zone with African cobalt mine type work conditions for its labourers that pay rent to whites who live in thailand.
>>
>>62383992
So? The median household net worth in usa is $190k.
>>
>>62389387
> Look at UAE. 10M population where 8M are immigrants with no rights that work for the 2M citizens.
LMAO HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA
>>
>>62389460
Canada is probably like this now.
>>
>>62382765
interesting thread. Canada is a very unique, strange, and corrupt country. unironically when the zeitgeist leans toward a country booming it ends up getting fucked (eg remember everyone used to talk and write about China and India ruling the world for literally decades and dont even get me started about Japan sussy bakas) and vice versa. I would be surprised if Canada becomes some fucking deranged Super Power now that its getting shit on. Its such a lil nepo bubble I feel like the u know who's are plotting something big for it.
>>
prices can't drop when it physically costs that much to build the square footage....

Theres a reason new builds are stopping/slowing down
>>
>>62389479
This too>>62389460
Canada has what it takes be a super power now.
>>
>>62389485
> Theres a reason new builds are stopping/slowing down
This. One reason why no one wants to make starter homes.
>>
The goal is to pump homes prices so high that boomers bagholding their 2 millions dollars homes are forced to sell due to taxes and then megacorps can sweep in and knock down whole neighborhoods to build 5on1 jeets breeding nests
>>
>>62389535
that was the old meta not sure wtf they're plotting now

>>
>>62382765
Mortgages usually have a payment schedule that results in them being paid off over 30 years. You are a retard if you pay them faster than that with a good rate. I work with commercial mortgages professionally, borrower side, and even as a company you are retarded to not simply pay the normal amortization payment. Dave Ramsy is a fucking idiot and you are too.
>>
>>62389564
ur not as smart as you think you are bc you dont have a home paid off and 6 figures liquid. no reply is going to make me believe u know how to manage large sums of cash
>>
>>62389574
What the fuck are you talking about?
