A century ago we were in the midst of a market crash which started the great depression. There are many theories as to what exactly caused the crash but everyone agrees that factors such as trading on margin, using collateral and loaning traders with credit while using the same speculative assets as collateral attributed to the crash. Fast forward today, the nation denbt for the United States is just under 40 Trillion. To put in perspective, if you stacked dollar bills it takes roughly 3.5 Trillion to reach the Moon. Our denbt is 11 times greater than that, which means we may go to the Moon and back at least five different times and still have plenty of left over bills. Despite that, the stock market is at its all time highs even though there's no fiscal responsibility to address this issue which only gets worse due to acquired interest. Instead, we're more concerned about algae in a pool.

honest to god I think we were all scammed. millenials were the last generation to graduate into proper job markets but I think we're gonna look back on them as sheer economic miracles; it's over, it's genuinely just neo-feudalism and you're locked into your wealth class and it's just wealth stratification. if you're poor now, that's it; you're just going to remain poor no matter how many fucking credentials you get

100 years ago you needed 100 men farming to generate the same amount of food 1 man farming today gets you, that's basically what changed. It's clown world and all bets are off.

The times back then were different. They had no means to protect themselves financially, no control over what the state can do. Most small countries were controlled by big countries and these big countries were doing all the work while also trying to feed the small countries. Communications back then were also different as information dissemination was at all time low. Education was poor and this comes with a huge risk especially to the financial sector. But it was also thanks to money that technological progress and medicine accelerated and because of that we have the comfortable life we have today.
