I literally didn't do anything today other than sitting on my chair but I feel exhausted from the stress
worst part is is that I'm making a couple dollars above minimum wage I shouldn't even be stressed by this
how did boomers survive this?
>>
They at least got to fuck Sharon at the disco on a Friday night or pop into the drive in movie with your date and get an easy dick suck.
>>
On the surface it's simple. Boomers cared about their jobs. They took pride even in low-level factory work in hopes to climb the ladder. So they worked hard and thus didn't need to stress being fired and felt empowered whenever their hard work was actually recognized.

I’m an overnight security guard and get paid to sit at a desk and do nothing for 24/hr. At most I validate 5 peoples parking in the first hour of my shift. Then it’s dead

The hardest part of my job is getting up so the janitors can mop the desk area which takes 20 seconds.

I spend the whole shift listening to kick streams, ChatGPTing, doing research on whatever, and listening to music. Smoke a cig before, in the middle of, and after my shift. Free coffee and snacks.

I’m probably gonna do this for the rest of my life. I get so much pleasure from sitting on my ass and doing nothing

>call the overnight security guard that is plastered on the main entrance
>they tell me they don't even have access to the building
>check with the owner of the property and he pays them out his ass
i didnt tell him that they dont even do their job or know his house exists

Back then many more were working for small businesses, not the corporate overlord. People can do this now too but so few want to swallow their pride and work for someone else at all, let alone for a small business where the pay is probably worse.

There's also the fact that employee loyalty and company loyalty was a thing. You could reasonably expect to work at the same place for 40 most of your career. Nowadays the employer/employee paradigm is much more adversarial, with employers firing long-time employees on the spot all the time whenever they feel like it.

Agreed, also a result of the corporate overlord.
