Why do so many people want a mortgage or buy a house when they should be renting instead?

>Why do so many people want a home of their own where they're not at the mercy of a landlord?
>>
Because apartment people suck. Even living in a detached house near apartments sucks.

Because it's an insane amount of leverage they can get approved for and it can never be allowed to go down? It's actually a no-brainer.
>>
Why do rentoid wagecuck poorfags make these cope threads day after day?
>>
>>62408294
If he had rented he would have used the home purchase money to pay his rent, not buy stocks.

This. You can tell who still lives at home by how vehemently they defend apartment living. I hate dealing with people, the noise, the smoke, letting contractors in while I'm away and hoping they don't steal shit. Been looking at an older neighborhood with no HOA and like 70-80 feet between homes. I will happily pay 5 grand for a new roof or a new 2ton air conditioner every few years if it means I have the independence to do whatever I want and interact with neighbors when I feel like it. Paint my house whatever color I want. Park 4 shitbox cars in the driveway. Redo the bathroom. Home ownership is a big responsibility but there's a reason ((they)) don't want you to do it. If you have decent cash flow and don't become house poor I can't imagine something more satisfying and liberating.

>living in an apartment building almost always sucks
>living in a house split into apartments can be hit or miss depending on the landlord
the houses in my area are $400k+ for starter homes. i pay $1100 in rent. renting will always be MUCH cheaper for me.

?
You have zero 600~ sqft townhouse shitholes for cheaper?
>>
Because economically illiterate people just follow trends like buying a house the second they have the opportunity, they don't take into account opportunity cost or timing, they believe a house is like a rite of passage

no

If you didn't have enough sense to get a high paying career and/or your parents aren't rich, you shouldn't expect to ever have your own house.
>>
>>62408644
Ben Felix and Warren Buffett say you shouldn't own your own house. It's better to rent. The renters net worth will always be higher.
>>
>>62408488
He'd have done both, invested the money and then paid out from that monthly.
>>
>>62408679
The renter rents because he cannot afford to buy, bro.

>Landlord decides that he's tired of losing out on 50% more rent and tells you he's not letting you renew the lease
>Now you're completely fucked
>>
>>62408745
tenants have rights retard, enjoy 1+ year of no rent for evicting me
>>
>>62408752
Enjoy being a poor rentoid.
>>
>>62408752
As long as your landlord gives you a notice that he doesn't plan allowing you to renew the lease there is nothing you can do about it. You don't own the building and don't get to just choose to stay because you want to. They can just say they need to do repairs/updates and tell you to get lost when your lease expires.
>>
>>62408752
Only humans have rights.
>>
>>62408787
Kek ikr.
>>
>>62408752
Wtf you can squat for a whole year and the landlord just has to put up with it?
>>
>>62408752
Do that with the wrong landlord and you'll really fuck your life up,
>buh buh Ill call the cops
They'll side with me, the wealthy property owner, over a junkie squatter 10/10 times. Just as long as I dont leave a mark on you ;)
>>

>$260k
This is false btw. /biz/ says that any house worth living in costs a minimum of $1m.
