A member of the c suite in my old company said in a meeting that you can't expect to have a stable position for ten years anymore.It's absolutely routine for people to be hired, milked for whatever knowledge they have that's desired, then they get managed out. I've seen plenty of people who were just awful but they had nothing to worry about and even got promotions in that environment because the manager was very good at bullshitting.
