What salary is considered 'good' in 2026?
>>
>>62432694
That wasn't considered a starter home in the 1970's, that was the sort of home that people bought in their mid 50's after the kids had left home (kids actually left home at 18 back then).
>>
>at least we aren't europoors
>>
175k
>>
60k.
>>
I’m taking home 2450 weekly and it barely is enough to cover the bills, but fortunately aren’t depleting savings atm. Idk how much longer anyone making under 100k can survive before they start getting calls from the debt collector
>t. Father of 2 under 2 w wife currently out of work postpartum.
>>
>>62432694
>1950s
>Buy a 950 sqft, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 garage home in the suburbs, after serving in WW2
>All of your kids live in 1 room
>MAYBE 1 TV
>Only 1 car in the family
>No AC
>No smartphones
>Work at a steel mill 10 - 12 hours a day

>2026
>Get lectured about about how you had White privilege, the NAZIs were actually the good guys and you had life on easy mode
>Millennials and Gen-Z want to suffocate you with a pillow
>They think a starter home is a 2,000 sqft mini-mansion in an HOA and should be attainable on a McDonald's wage
>>
>>62432954
>Complain about how a 9 - 5 in an air-conditioned building is "slave labor".
>>
>>62432954
I get what you're going for but boomers didn't serve in WWII, they dumped what was given to them by that generation down the toilet
>>
>>62432969
I know. But according to 99% if Doomer posters Boomers = Everyone 60 - 200 years old, since they blame them for shit like social security, medicare, medicaid, mass immigration and the civil rights act, which also had nothing to do with them.

Based I hope they do you deserve it desu

I found your problem champ

100k-125k in most desirable areas. 60k in flyovers and shitholes. 180k-250k in techy HCOL areas like Seattle’s east side and parts of the Bay Area.
>>

I love it when Americans pretend WW2 impacted them negatively. Nigger in Europe we lost our whole heritages and had to start over. You achieved global dominance by timing your entry and picking the winning side and entered a golden age. Faggots. You barely lost any people nor were you responsible for winning, the Russians defeated the Nazis, not you. "But but but we gave them stuff!! :'(" kys, I wish you didn't. The nazis didn't bomb the shit out of the cities my family lived in, the allies did.
>>
>>62432853
Don't act like it's better in Europe
I'm sure it is in some countries, but I live in France and we are fucked too
I work from home in a small city but with a very good Parisian income, my wife has a well-paid job by our city's standards
And despite that we could barely afford a home that was previously owned by a retired factory worker and his housewife

2030s will be coffins and urns.

Uhhh... idk what kind of schizo rant that was, because I agree WW2 overall benefitted the United States, just not the people that died or the parents that were traumatized by their son getting killed.

In fact, it makes my point for me. The 1950s - 1980s USA was created by the total destruction of all other industrialized nations, plus the mostly closed off borders, plus the deaths of hundreds of thousands of American men, plus the leap in nuclear/energy technology, plus the minimal NIMBYism, created the perfect concoction dir a laborer in the USA. Everyone in the world relied on American manufacturing, while domestically American men had very little labor competition.

The difference is, I'm able to logically rationalize the 50s and understand why things happened within the context of history and economics. I'm not stupid enough, emotionally reactive, or ideologically brainrotted into blaming an entire generation of people for shit less than 1% of them had control over.

You need 500k a year to be comfy. 200k a year to live a simple life in a a studio apartment with no major setbacks

Sub 100k would be abject poverty

like $150k in a MCOL area. i make $150k and i live in an area where rents are $1900/mo and houses are $350-400k. i'm a volcel who never goes anywhere, drive a 10 year old economy, no debt aside from student loans which will be paid off ASAP. $150k is just enough to tolerate the horrors of wageslavery.
>>
>>62433489
I dunno why I wrote I literally just woke up and was taking a shit so most of my blood was powering my sphincter instead of my brain while my conciousness was still partially outside of my body. I still stand by it but no idea what triggered it.
>>
>>62432694
If you have about 2mil you can live off of the income it generates and never have to work
>>
>>62432694
> conveniently leaves out the dollar value tanking to shit.
you see, at one point it was easier because the dollar had more value and the money you made went farther, with less tax and less bullshit.
>>
>>62433699
It's all good man. Sometimes I post when I'm about to pass out and I wake up realizing I posted unintentional schizo content.

I’m debt free. I was referencing the other 90% of society that lives beyond their means and I’m just trying to plan how I’m going to navigate all this safely when the music stops and the violence begins
>>
>>62432723
>>>kids left
kids kicked out at 18 happened more often as the late 2010s, ask me how I know.

Anyone try the van thing? I'm 6'2 and work remote. Not sure I'd hate it compared to my 2bed 2 bath apartment in a LCOL area ($900/month) + just doing monthly road trips for like $100
>>
>>62432694
well I have a “starter home” that looks like your 70s example. I bought it this decade and I only make 90k a year.
