>Get email about having to change student loan plans>Haven’t made a single payment because it wasn’t required and there wasn’t any interest>Read email more thoroughly>”Also since August 1, 2025 you’ve been earning interest on your loan”>WhatI’ve just been putting my money into investments since my life if such low expense (boomer parents didn’t kick me out after college)So I have a question, my portfolio return is higher than the interest rate of the loanShould I just do minimum payments or load up on paying principal?LikeI’d make more money just investing rather than paying itYes I’ve legit made zero payments I was in forbearance, I think Sleepy Joe was helping people out and now Trump is fucking shit up idk I never read the emails until nowI believe my loan is only $20,000?
So this thing was in forbearance with 0% interest rate since I graduatedI wonder if it was a bad decision to not just pay it off then but finding work after college was toughPlus I got to invest the money and make a return so….maybe it evens outEh it’s a wash it already happened whatever man
>>62438615not going to read all this shit, this is a jp cutie thread now
>>62438615Don't care, didn't read, name of picrel?
>>62438615yes, do minimum payments at 0% interest while investing as much of the loan as you can.But check the fine print to see if they reserved the right to retroactively change the status of your loans to some form that has interest. It's a small risk but yeah. Theoretically they could pass legislation or amend legislation in 10 to 20 years that says "JK those loans always had interest. Fuck you", and you'd be on the hook.
>>62438872No no it has interest now but didn’t the 3 years after my graduation It started gaining in August 2025 I didn’t make any payments at 0% interest even though I knew it would be pure principal because I was in and out of work after college and focused on investing instead

>>62439237>beautiful menAnd thank God for that
>>62438615If your loan is only $20K and your portfolio return is higher than the interest rate of the loan, then I think the answer is pretty obvious
How did you miss all the news headlines about how interest was starting again for student loans?

>>62441412That's my plan. And on high capital gains years will certify right before filing my taxes to lock in the previous year's income for the year. As far as I know, you can do this every other year.
