my parents charged me rent while I still lived with themthey didn't even do the "invest it and surprise them before moving out by giving it back with interest" thing people often talk about doing with their kidsthey were literally using my rent money to pay off their own loans
>>62445540So?As soon as I could pay rent, I wanted to. Parents helped me build my own house because I wasnt a selfish piece of shit and was a team player.Im glad my family paid off their loans and are about to retire. If I had been a bum they wouldn't have helped me out
Lmao dont be a freeloader
>>62445540You are not entitled to any of their money you fucking parasite. If you use their resources they can charge you for it.
im 38, going on 39, never moved out of my parents house, theyve never charged me rent.
>>62445540Seems Trumps "Trump Account" will solve the issue of lazy financial illiterate parents! Might possibly be the best thing he will do and so many Americans upon reaching the age of 18 will pray daily to him!Fuck parents honestly. My nigger mother has been a drag on my life. When she dies there will be no eulogy, only laughter and celebration.
>>62445558>Put offspring into world>When the investment has been paid off you'll charge interests of it>Rub hands
>>62445540>they were literally using my rent money to pay off their own loansgood for them. as you get older and start thinking of retirement, debt starts becoming a real problem. and good for you for helping relieve them of that burden. take their lesson to heart, and try to avoid unnecessary debt as you continue your journey into adulthood.
>>62445559>theyve never charged me rentThis is one of the reasons you never grew up.
>>62445543boomer larp
>>62445631okay but it's also the principle of the matterasking your child to effectively "step up" and bail you out of your own shitty financial situation, that you brought upon yourself. I'd be so ashamed personally: idk if I would even be able to look at my own kid in the eyes desualso, my dad doesn't gamble, and neither of them drink: why are my parents knee-deep in debt when my mom makes a comfortable 6-figures a year anyway? what are they even spending it on? (inb4 "you")I've lived on my own and I know how much it costs; add an extra $1000 on my expenses to account for a home loan above what I already pay for rent and an extra $200 for increased family groceries (buying in bulk is cheaper also, so the more kids you have the lower the cost basis is)I make half as much as my mom does and I'm comfortable and able to put away an easy $2k a month while maintaining a healthy lifestyle with high quality foodmy parents were always blaming us, the kids, for all their problems: well, we're all moved out now, and the problems persist; so who was really the problem?
>>62445631>>62445558>>62445552soulless boomers too old to stIll be postIng
I live in a country with free university education. I did exceptionally well in the placement exam and got a scholarship from the state, they paid me close to minimum wage during my entire education. My parents paid my rent and gave me an allowance in addition to that because they believed that my scholarship should benefit me, not them. They bought me a car when I graduated and let me live in one of their apartments rent-free. I made low 8 figures since then (high IQ + crypto) and paid them back many times over, even though they don't believe that they're entitled to anything. Feels good to not have been born to spiritual niggers.
>>62445540Could be worse My parents literally kicked me out of their house when I turned 18They literally sat me down and said "You have a month to find your own place" so I had to scramble and find a place. I ended up couch surfing for almost three months because I didn't even have a job when they dropped the news. They fucking gave away all my shit to thrift stores while I was couch surfing because they "thought I didn't want it" so I have nothing left from my childhood. I'm 29 now and I've basically only just now have financially recovered from their stupidity. I basically only see them during holidays/weddings/funerals because I still keep in touch with my two sisters. The real kicker is they thought they were doing my a favor by kicking me out of the house because it would make me grow up to be a real man or some shit. I hate them so god damn much and I tell them how much I hate them every time they try to make amends, which they have done several times. They basically made me waste a good 6 years of my life by basically being on the verge of homelessness the entire time. The ONLY good thing, if you can even call it that, is they let my sisters stay in their home for as long as they wanted because of me and they both got to live semi-normal lives.
>>62445540How old are you? What's the financial status of your parents? How was the rent you paid compared to what you'd actually pay renting yourself alone?
>>62445636I wonder how zoomies feel about this when they live paycheck to paycheck or go homeless because paying goyrent is the only way to "grow up".
The whole 18 and you're out is an obsolete relic from a time America really was the land of opportunity and a kid right out of school could find a self-supporting job immediately.
>get to live for a massive discount>complain about how hard thatchecks out for 4 chan. count your blessings or move easy, simple as. sounds like a dose of the read world where cardboard boxes are 2k a month would do you some good.I lived with mom in my early 20s, charged 40% market rate with the agreement I'd do stuff around the house, yard work, fix things so on. She decides she wants to get more like 80% market. Fine she owns it. I started charging 80% of market rate for labor, yeah you're new ceiling fan that's 3 hours of work, thats 200 dollars now. if its not mutually beneficial do something about it.
>>62445631I hope when OP moves out he never helps his parents in anyway. if they need help tell them to take it out of the rent money he's paid them already. tit for tat
>>62445782Probably the same way boomers felt about this when they lived paycheck to paycheck because living on their own means was the only way to grow up.
>>62445821He still owes them for the unpaid room and board from ages 0-18 though.
>>62445540This was the norm 50 years ago. In this day and age, they are either poor, or not very nice.
>>62445726You must have been a nice guy in your previous life.
>>62445853For the boomers, it was the norm.
>>62445855Oh you are not even ironic. Honestly, don't ever have kids.
>>62445540My parents weren't scummy like this. Jews often give each other property and money too, since they understand that community works better than stupid shit like asking your kids for rent, which is parasitic on your children. My parents gave me money even, lots of it, and that allowed me to get ahead. Now I return the favour by being my parent's financial executors since they have seen I know what I'm doing when given the means, and now they're richer for it too.I don't and wouldn't charge my daughter. I have gold and silver saved for my daughter so she won't incur taxes either.Your parents are scumbags, sorry anon. You should just try and invest what you can and leave them ASAP. Then never give them anything back once you make success. Once they're old they'll be asking you for shit, and you can point back to the fact they stole from you.
>>62445877I meant z o o m i e s
>>62445636Don’t need to “grow up” when you have already made it. Only low value people need to “grow up.”
>>62445729>The ONLY good thing, if you can even call it that, is they let my sisters stay in their home for as long as they wanted because of me and they both got to live semi-normal lives.Your sisters were never in danger of being kicked out primarily because your dipshit boomer father wants to fuck his little princesses.Boomers are an evil, rotten generation and the sooner they all die, the better.
>>62445923If you're still living at home sponging off your parents' goodwill then you have neither made it nor have grown up though.
>>62445923Grow up and take put a loan so you can become a debt slave who has to become a wage slave who also pays taxes, that's adulthood son, supporting jews and niggers who live on welfare
>>62445952but there are plenty of kids who never worked a day in their lives and live at home, and made it. Hint: rich kids
>>62445952if you have the means for your kids to never work unless they have to and you deny that to them you're evil
>>62445540Blessed I was to have my parents be the way they are. Even though I would have loved for them to have a more direct agentic impact on my life, especially when it comes to academic achievements, for the most part, my parents have given me whatever I wanted within their scope and love. Despite the fact that my father wished that I could have achieved more, they have never asked me for a single cent for goofy shit like in the OP. In fact, it was I, that started helping them out. They also try to pay me back but for what I have given them which is downright stupid to accept. They also allow me to freely live within the house. I do not understand how modern families, especially American families that just do not help each other out. This hyper-individualism/atomism is really getting out of hand, and many practices just deliberately hinder the success of your own offspring. I also have to take note that many children do not turn out like me where I, and my family where we put each other first. I know a lot of offsprings turn out to be just pure undisciplined shit.
