>>62457011They own trillions in us bonds and treasuries and they're about to sell
>>62457011Selling their US assets. They've been enslaved by the US long enough.
so we buy then?
some of you alright. dont be not in Japan tomorrow
>>62456934Nobody anonymous cryptofag
>>62457132They’re not about to fucking sell. The concern is not that Japan will liquidate their treasury positions; the concern is that higher interest rates/bonds yields in Japan will discourage foreign bond purchases in the future (hence the “unwinding”). Why would they liquidate treasuries at a LOSS when they could just hold to maturity? Japanese bond yields are roughly half of US bond yields—you think they’re dumping T-bills for a lower yield? I swear you people don’t understand why the carry trade happened in the first place. Hint: They got cheap money and put it overseas. Money is now less cheap to borrow.
Will this delay the legend of zelda remake?
>>62457433so what's the big deal here?
>>62456934my dad works for nintendo...lets just say some of you guys are cool, don't go to the nikkei tomorrow
>>62456934don't try to scare me fucker, if you scare me into market selling, the impact on equity and foreign exchange markets will be insane, thousands of factories will be forced to stop, millions will die, it will take decades to rebuild
>>62457508The big deal is a longer concern wrapped in a problem that everyone is afraid of: the US treasury market needs more and more demand from investors, and a source of demand could be drying up. Japan will probably step in to prop up the yen, and to do this they will sell SOME treasuries, but it’s not the fire sale that people are making it out to be. In all likelihood, this yen intervention will be done in cooperation with the US so that nothing gets shaken up in the bond market, at least not visibly. Essentially, this is potentially bad news in the long term, but the people freaking out in the short term really don’t understand it.
>>62456934Will they commit seppuku
>>62457518>needs more and more demand from investorsThis must be why they're pushing the alien angle so hard. They can pretend there's an entire universe of investors out there
