Serious replies only. >I have a wife and 2 kids.>I live in Las Vegas, currently.>I have 2 wfh jobs and doordash on the sideI have chosen not to renew my lease and will be moving out at the end of August, my wife and the kids will live with her parents temporarily. Originally, my plan was to move into the cheapest shithole in town. Deal with bugs, poor service, whatever the fuck to just save as much money as possible on rent. Currently paying 2k a month, saw some apartments around $650+ for a studio/1 bedroom. Naturally, they are in the worst parts of town and all sorts of bad reviews, but I'll deal with it.However, after some serious thought, I am highly considering not living in an apartment at all and just living in the car to save as much money as possible. I am willing to make the sacrifice, suck it up and save as much as possible. The goal is to do this for 6-months to a year, depending on how long my wife's parents are willing to let her and the kids stay there. Doing the math, with all expenses, I can save 30-60k in 6 months to a year, which I will use as a down-payment for a house, or investing, depending on how the market is looking.I have a gym membership and it's 24/7 so there is where can I shit and shower, + work out.I can meal prep at the in laws for my food for the week, or stop by every so often to eat there. The only thing I need to figure out is how to reliably work 5 days a week, so that's needing a good and consistent internet connection and ideally some space for 2 laptops, a keyboard and mouse. The car I have is a Toyota Rav4, typical mom car. Not really ideal for sleeping in but I've accepted suffering.Has anyone done anything similar or know someone who did? How did it fare for you? Is starlink worth it for internet? What were the main struggles and challenges you ran into etc.
Is this post intended to demoralize other posters here on /biz/? Serious question.
>>62471815No
shut up stinkiechainlink will never win
>>62471812Where do you shit and shower?
>>62471824Did you not read? 24/7 gym membership. They have showers.
>>62471812I have a bit of interest in this lifestyle too. Therefore, such a thread is very helpful to verify feasibility and do a mental practice.
>>62471832Yes, that is exactly why I made the thread. Glad you agree.
>>62471827My friend did something like this but in a van. He said the worst thing is having an unexpected shit.
>>62471812You'll get depressed and fuck your back up in addition to your family suffering. Just move to a cheaper town and village if you're willing to suffer and trade off the commute for cheaper rent. EV or trains, buses if u want to cut down on transport costs.
>>62471812everywhere had free wifi now. If you have to just go to the library and use theirs.your wife will probably divorce you and take the kids. Likely going to get child support and alimony.if you're a real adult you should absolutely not be asking for serious financial advice on 4chan. This is a terrible place to get advice on anything, but they seriously don't know anything about money. Complete retards and literal children.
>>62471872got to be tough to get on a reliable shitting pattern when you are living out of a fucking van. sounds horrible>>62471827better keep a bucket in the van
>I have 2 wfh jobs and doordash on the sideI don't understand what you're asking in this post at all. Why are you sending your wife away and why are you going live in your car? or what's wrong with the place you live in now? you don't make enough money? Some context is needed here.
>>62471812Work from home not work from car. Get it together bro.
>>62471812you should probably take out life insurance on the kids, have them die in a tragic accident, collect the insurance money and start getting your wife preggers again. this will both give you a fast cash injection and reduce your living expenses. don't send the family away, your wife will divorce you
>>62471812thats wild imagine having a wife and kids in this economy. thanks Obama
>>62471898Yeah another friend of mine had a bucket with a special lid that was like a padded toilet seat for emergencies or camping or something. Finding a nice area to do your business might be a problem. A totally different friend of mine had a converted van with a toilet installed and a murphy bed and TV. He was getting a shower too, he got one of those tiny mop service basins. His van is a Sprinter and his turbo would go out all the time. This is all in the Seattle and Portland area. Public libraries probably have wifi and places for laptops and a toilet to use. I heard you can park and sleep in church parking lots, Wal-Mart parking lots. A lot of people I know lived in cars temporarily.
>>62471812>>62471816>>62471827>>62471837You're an idiot and are absolutely going to lose your wife and kids. Grow the fuck up, get a real job and take care of the family you chose to create.
>>62471878>your family suffering. They will suffer not being with me all day but otherwise, why would they suffer? The wife and kids will be with my wife's parents, she will have more support if anything. And it's not like I won't see them, I will be at most 15 min away usually.
>>62471962she's not getting laid, she has nobody to talk to about how much her family sucks. She has nobody to talk to about how much YOU suckI give it two months before she finds someone to fuck her and talk to her about how much you suck.women have a pretty easy time finding dudes to take care of them.
>>62471962seriously though, in the US part of the marriage contract is you keep a roof over your family's heads and put food on the table. It's fine if you can't do that, but your wife is totally going to leave you for someone that can. Probably a cholo drug dealer with a couple murders on his sheet but you don't get to choose who replaces you so sorry about that.
people always wonder why their ex wife left them for someone so much worseit's because you didn't give her a fucking choice. She had to find someone to take her and your kids on short notice. Of course he's a violent criminal piece of shit. You didn't give her any choice.
>>62471880>your wife will probably divorce you and take the kids.Why?>>62471909To save as much money as possible for 6 months to a year. I could of course live with them in an apartment and try to save up but that would be so much slower. >>62471939I am taking care of them, this is just a way to save way more money in a certain time frame. It's temporary. >>62471964>>62471965We can still have sex, if anything it'll mean more creativity. Dates/hotels/doing it while the parents are out. A year of it won't kill us. This isn't about not being able to provide. I can, I just wanna save a large amount of money. The issue is saving 10-20k a year while living with them, vs saving 30-60k in one year by not living with them for a short time. I'd suffer the most since I'm the one living in a car. >>62471974Did your wife cheat on your or leave you or something? What a schizo. That isn't the focus of the thread.
You are a dumbass/thread

>>62471812>depending on how long my wife's parents are willing to let her and the kids stay there.>"on how long.... willing to have their grandkids not be homeless"This story is believable because boomers are fucking horrible people who would actually consider it an inconvenience to have their kid and grandkids around.

>>62471982I am 31. No this will not be some lavish van life living. It's just work and sleep in car instead of paying rent. I'm only asking about the logistics of it. You faggots are focused on irrelevant things. >>62471983Yes, ideally, they would just let me live with them and I'd pay him some rent money but the dad doesn't want another man in the house. Somewhat understandable. However, it's not like the option is homelessness for them. I didn't lose my jobs. It's the opposite. I have a chance to save a lot of money by making this sacrifice for a short time. >>62471987>>62471990Seek help.>>62471991All the more reason for why it makes sense to do this when I have the chance, while the kids are so young it's a lot less consequential and while I have her parents around and willing to even let this happen. The original plan was gonna be I just live by myself in a very cheap apartment. Instead, I am considering not renting an apartment at all, and suffering living in the car. This thread is about the logistics of living in a car. Can anyone share experience related to living in a car while working remotely?
>>62471994>Seek help.I'm trying to help your stupid assas far as wives and courts are concerned you're abandoning your family. Her parents are going to see it the same way
>>62471994Well you're gonna end up a homeless hobo, good luck with that lmao
>>62471998Well yea, that's the point. Except I will be working, and I have ways to maintain hygene. I also have access to the in laws house. It's not like I'm not allowed there. Her parents are supportive of the idea, they understand the economy is different and demands greater sacrifice. None of this is for vanity. It's just to save a large amount of money for a house. Or at least, if the market is looking bullish, to invest and multiply it. Worst case scenario, it's too difficult and I end up just renting a shitty apartment. I won't save as much, but still a lot more.
>>62472002most hobos have jobs and places to showeryou know what they don't have?a wife and kids. That's the first thing to go
>>62471812Why the fuck are the in laws allowing your wife and kids to live with them while you stay in a car?

>>62472010the beauty part is he thinks abandoning his family was HIS ideakek
>>62472012this is almost exactly how I lost my first custody case by the wayyou drop your kids off with your in laws and you have legally given up custody and parental rights.this is simple abandonment
>>62472009Just boomer shit idk. I guess not many people here have experience with car living. But lots of weird fantasies about being cucked, and divorced dads >>62472010
>>62472015I've lived in cars before but nothing I can tell you about car camping is going to be more important than what I'm telling you about abandoning your wife and kidsyou're doing this for them and they're going to leave you you fucking idiot.

Vegas is brutally hot, you will die of exposure.
>>62471994>somewhat understandableYour dad in law is a piece of shit. Kill him and kill yourself.
>>62471812I have lived in my car and also in an RV. I highly recommend getting an EV if you want to live in a car, one with a "camp mode" and 120v AC power. Rivian R1S would be my top pick. Maintenance and fueling costs are much lower in an EV, especially if you have free chargers in your area which most places do. I personally live on public land while traveling rather than stay in one place. If you're going to do this, I suggest you get a tent and sleep in that most nights because you can just move with the seasons to stay cool and it will be more comfortable. Also get a little pop up screened gazebo type thing to set up a desk to work at. That's what I do and it works amazingly. The EV is nice to have on hot nights though to run the A/C as a backup, which is one of the main distinguishers between it and an ICEV which is not suited to long-term idling like that and can even kill you from the exhaust fumes if you're not careful. Also not legal many places. I suggest you get a big power bank and solar panel, especially if you don't want an EV. Something portable that you can stake to the ground. The ones you can't stake down or don't have a stand aren't worth buying. Get 400w solar panels for every 2kwh battery capacity you want. I definitely recommend getting a 12v fridge/freezer which you can run off the power station and something to cook with. I'm all electric with induction burners/toaster ovens but YMMV. RVs are a boondoggle. Don't spend all your money on one. They have endless maintenance costs that suck money from you, plus the fuel efficiency is shit. You need to keep moving every 2 weeks if you want to live on public land to a new ranger district. That is a lot of miles, and shit can break. They have every system that a house does, plus every system that a car does and you get the maintenance double whammy that comes with that. I have used hotspot from my phone mostly and that worked fine, but I am considering starlink.
>>62472641As far as struggles go, only high wind has been an issue for me. I have a pop up bathroom and before I got my pop up gazebo I used to use a tarp and poles to create a shelter to sit under. My poles kept breaking and my tarps kept ripping. The other problem were the flies. The gazebo stops the worst of the bugs. I do not recommend sitting in the car all day. Even in an RV that feels cramped and depressing to me. When I was in the RV, parking was another problem. It fit in a normal space because it was one of those van RVs, but even still trying to find somewhere to park while passing through populated areas was always an issue. Walmarts and shit suck because of the blinding lights and screaming low class people. I got "the knock" once while at a walmart too. They don't universally allow people so it can be exhausting to try and find somewhere you actually have permission to park. This is a big reason I went with an EV. I only pass through populated areas, and I would only be parking at night, so that works perfectly for me to just find a level 2 charger and plug in overnight. You literally have permission to keep your car there as long as you are charging so it gives peace of mind. I have to shit every morning as soon as I wake up so I got a collapsible toilet and a bunch of commode liners and then I just take my shit and tie it up in these bags and periodically throw it away. It stays in a waterproof trash can strapped to the outside of my car until then and doesn't smell. You must separate your piss for that to be the case though and get a good trash can that seals well. Nalgene bottle does the trick. I find this infinitely more peaceful than trying to poop somewhere in public. Making the 5AM rounds trying to find a gas station with a shitter is not fun. I also shower with a little electric pump style shower that I submerge in hot water in a bucket. Fuck going to a gym to shower, that severely limits your options for places to camp
Trump made this Illegal, you know.
>>62472693Also, if you are a digital nomad doing this style of public land living, you should know maintenance is annoying as fuck while living in your car. If you want to do your own maintenance then you need somewhere to keep all your tools. In the car is almost impossible. Like even just having a set of jack stands is gonna take up so much fucking space and weight, let alone everything else you need. I keep my tools at my parents house and go to my sister's house to rotate my tires which is the only regular maintenance needed on an EV. When I had the ICE RV, the maintenance was such a fucking bitch. I had to pay other people to do it and they robbed me blind every time. Hybrids are actually slightly cheaper to fuel compared to EVs when relying on public charging, but the maintenance costs are even worse than a normal ICEV. Anything that is not routine, like it breaks out in the field is going to fuck you in the wallet and be so fucking annoying to deal with. Have some funds set aside for this always. I know you already have a Rav4 but I say all this because you can sell it and buy something else with the money you get. You have to think of all your systems as connected. How are you going to cook, clean, shower, etc? If you don't have a way to supply electricity from an EV, you have to get stuff like camp stoves and propane bottles that you need to refill constantly. I follow the urban car living sub and most of those people live in something like an Rav4 and they just feel like peasants to me, complaining about shit like having to eat pre-made grocery store food all the time because they can't cook in their car. I would personally never do the whole urban car living thing where you are tied to one spot due to a physical wage slaving job. It sounds like hell.
>>62471812Probably a bad idea to sleep in a car in the summer. At least in the winter you can just get an assload of bedsheets.
>>62472641>>62472693Appreciate your input, but yours seems a little more far out. This would make sense if I was completely on my own. But I have access to the in laws place for cooking/food. I can go there for any reason, see my family, cook food, shit/shower (though I'll use the Gym for that most days). I plan to meal prep for the week there each weekend. So the only power source I'll need is for my 2 laptops for my 2 jobs. I won't need a fridge, probably just a cooler for storing food or something. Any food I need to store I can keep at the in laws and grab the night before or something.I fully plan to sell the Rav4 because it was a dogshit financial decision (the car is my wife's). That's a whole story that I don't need to get into. But I am definitely planning on downgrading to a used minivan or anything like that. With your input, I'll look into what EV/Hybrid options are available. One good thing about Vegas is that everything is AT MOST 30 min away driving. I have 24/7 gym access and they have multiple locations. If I can suck up the discomfort of sleeping in a car, and the elements, my only challenge is consistent wifi/power for the laptops. And a comfortable work station. I expect car maintenance may also be a bitch, I've never owned a car in my life (grew up in NYC, and even after moving to the west coast I kept figuring out ways to get by just fine with no car, then met wife and she already had car) so I don't know much about them. The main wear on the car is likely going to be AC/cooling related.
The only possibility in which someone with an IQ as low as you could reproduce is if you are also brown. I hope your wife finds someone better.
What are your current/past drug (including alcohol) addictions? Are you still actively using?Warrants? Domestic? What's your actual deal?
>>62471812This is kind of retarded and not worth it. Just share a room in an apartment or something. I used to rent a space on the living room floor of a little two bedroom unit. There was another guy in the living room with me and each bedroom was rented to one person. It wasn’t bad unless the other guy renting the living room I shared space with was bad. There were three different people while I was there, one was a bro that I remained friends with for a long time, one was a weird Mexican guy with psych issues but he was mostly OK, and the last was an absolutely insufferable negro who stayed up late talking on the phone to his ho. But this arrangement would certainly be better than living in a rav4 especially if you don’t even have a good place to keep it parked. And starlink is fucking expensive just do a mobile hotspot if you have to.
>>62472737Sorry, my brain interpreted you saying your wife was moving in with her parents temporarily as a separation, but now I re read things I see that isn't the case. It's kind of fucked up they aren't letting you stay with them also. Kind of seems like they are trying to drive a wedge between you two, I would be wary there. Try and save up as much money as humanely possible and get your wife back living with you with a house over your heads ASAP.If you're planning to stay in one place, then your main concern becomes parking because it's not legal to sleep in your car most places these days. The cops consider it "camping" which is banned most places outside of parks and stuff like that. If you want to do it on public land where it's actually allowed, you can only stay for 2 weeks at a time before having to move. Depending on the location and the enforcement by the rangers in the area you can sometimes get away with much longer than that, but if you're planning on staying somewhere close to your in laws then you're planning on getting lucky. Otherwise, you will need to do a lot of driving back and forth if you plan to do all your cooking and stuff at their house. Where are you actually planning on parking for the 6 months-a year?
>>62471994>The issue is saving 10-20k a year while living with themits like the other guy said.you will loose your wife and kids.and probably end up having less money forced paying maintenance for wife/kids

It's literally just an opportunity to save a bunch of money at once, taking advantage of the in laws letting this happen. I don't think they're malicious in a "lets separate you" way, more just selfish in the "fuck you it's my house" kind of way. My parents would let us both stay for free if anything, but they are way back in the east coast and I REALLY don't wanna live with them or move back there. So yea, it's only for 6 months to a year, definitely will be living with the wife and kids again asap. >parkingthis is definitely something else I can't say for certain and will have to play the field on. >>62471812So I have done this for months consecutively, and I think your personal health and enjoyment is better. Since kids are involved as well as your wife then I guess it's justifiable. You likely won't be able to work from home in your car. You should consider using the public library. Here are the struggles I faced-so cramped and kept needing x item so everytime I had to get up and get it and reset my setup. This can be alleviated if you are organized-Heat. I live in AZ and it got hot. Running the a/c 24/7 will likely just ruin your vehicle. If you keep your windows down this next part happens...-You will attract attention. People who "need" something will come up to you. A bum who needs a cigarette or money, someone who is having car troubles, someone will walk over to see if your "alright". People will also loiter near you. Someone walking their dog will come up next to your vehicle. Someone else living in their car will park next to you and you will have to listen to him and his wife argue. Of course we must also remember SECURITY. Public security guards are very numerous, most businesses have one or have on assigned to the plaza they work out of. The recent homelessness increase has increased this type of work.-Tinted windows are obviously important. You will likely accumulate much trash, you should eat your food outside due to the smell, unexpected shits can happen.-People can mess with your car in a variety of ways. I had someone smash my window while I was in the library. They also swapped my battery out which wasn't something I thought could happen.-Your mental health will decline. Do not underestimate what not having your own room, bed and bathroom does. You have likely lived a standard American life. You are probably not built for this. You might be after it's all said and done or if you started training like an outdoorsman, but right now you are likely too addicted to creature comforts you aren't aware of. If you choose to continue

Maybe it would be hard to accept my daughter having sex 30 feet away from me on the other side of the wall. What if I accidentally heard it? What if I just knew it was happening. Idk...... Not reading the thread but I'm voluntarily going to be doing vanlife sometime before 2028.There's lots of compromises to be made and things to consider hard before entering that sort of living arrangement. I've watched hours and hours of vanlife videos taking notes.I could never do it in a car though, that's fucked, long wheelbase van at a minimum as a stealth build so it's not entirely obvious you are in there. A camper van is too obvious and you are asking for trouble, everyone from robbers to police will be in your business if you are seen pulled up in a camper. Same goes for a car, just asking to get harassed. None of this probably helps in any way but here's Shrek.
>>62473041You will see naked men at the gym, gym men never flush, the showers and lockers are very nice, whatever your morning face looks like the hot zoomella at the check in desk will see it and if that is her shift you will be a regular in her eyes.make sure you get a lock for your locker. Also you need something to hold all your stuff in the shower(tooth hygiene, shampoo, rag etc) you won't have your bathroom window shelves. I would get one of those clear plastic mini bags. the wons that are see through and kids in dangerous schools are forced to have them so we know they don't have a gun. The water slips right off and out. Or get a mini table? or a fanny pack but it has to be that shiny plastic obviously cloth won't work. The whole "my wife's Dad won't let me stay in the house with them because he doesn't want another man in the house" is a level of mental illness/derangement that can't be hand-waved away by saying "Guys, that's just the way it is, PLEASE focus on the main point of this thread!!" Either he or you, (or both of you) are high function schizophrenics, or that aspect of the story is a lie that you're doubling down on for no reason. You're probably a single guy who thought the crazy story would get you better replies, but you're still doubling down on it. There's no reason on earth that he would mind having you there unless you were literally a 6'5 handsome gigachad that he's sure his wife would fuck if you lived there, which is 99% unlikely because really good looking people hardly ever struggle this much just due to the halo-effect. cumulatively ive spent over a year living mobile. living in any car sucks dick, you want something you can easily sit up and lay down flat, so big. I have no idea how you think you'd save 30k let alone 60k after a year but ill let you work that out. driving isnt free. gas and maintenance insurance isn't free. buying tiny quantities over bulk prep is dramatically more expensive. certainly not impossible to do on the cheap but when you start trying to cut out costs like having a stove and fuel for it the pain in the ass factor goes up very quickly.what you see on tik tok or youtube are 99% bullshit. the reason to do van life is to move around and see things. if you just want to play homeless i guess good luck but it's going to suck. everyday shit like cooking hygiene and shitting takes a whole lot of extra time and effort.it'd be a lot more cost effective to fix your fucked up family dynamics than try and make it a year in a car. i enjoyed my time mobile but it's not something I'd even entertain to try and save money. by the time you factor in the increased costs and time required to just exist, you'd almost certainly be much better off with a 15/hr mcjob spending that time working.the post kinda seems like BS but if you're serious pack it up and do a week, you're going to find out just how much convenience you take for granted really quick. and vegas in the summer, good luck not dying in a car, there's good reason van lifers stay out of the deserts in summer, even with a top of the line AC and insulation nothing is going to come close to keeping up in 110 degree sun

>>62471812most people who do this get a van, like a Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ($$$$$), or a step van like a FedEx truck or something. you need space for storage.you need insulation or you will roast and/or freeze. you need ventilation or else you will get mold and get sick. need electricity? you need solar panels, a battery, and the know how to hook everything up.the problem with all this is1. the set-up cost. you are looking at $10,000 minimum unless you get a killer deal on a vehicle, perhaps over $20K.2. where are you gonna sleep at night? you can't stay in the same spot. 3. gas4. better know how to fix your vehicle if it breaks downsorry but you fucked up having kids while you were poor. best to relocate somewhere cheaper
>>62471827you would have to customize the van to at least have a toilet because that will be a major issuebut 650 a month is worth it to be with your family
1) You're begging for a divorce if you live in a car or an apartment away from your family. I get it if it was a month or 2, but the inlaws hate you so much you can't sleep in a cot you pack up every morning? Weird story.2) Sleeping in a vehicle is exhausting. If you're young, dumb, and have some sort of deep drive to hustle in you, maybe it works out. It's far worse than those tiny NYC/Japanese apartments where people make multiple uses out of every single facet of their space.3) If you do end up living in your car the highest priority is windows covers you can easily remove. Hopefully you have some DIY capability and figure this out. The RAV4 probably has commercial options to buy but they are often shit and have shipping time.4) 30 to 60k? Weird fantasy.
>>62474742I scrolled up and read some of OPs replies... LMAO. Think he can rub his hands together and conjure 90k with "car living."If anything he said is true, sounds like he's fizzed out and wife's family is trying to cold shoulder him out of their lives. The poster I replied to has it right about living comfortably in a car. My advice was/is purely for proper bumming in any vehicle. You just need to cover the windows, and have them COMPLETELY covered so you have no eyes peeping in on you from any angle. It's psychological some people are animals and sleep in the open, it's not healthy or a good night's sleep.Other than that, good luck. Takeout is a lot easier than using a gas stove. You'll be doing an extra 50-100km a day just trying to find good spots to bum around and sleep, especially if you want to set up a chair a stove. If you're clever with your DIY blinders you can even make screens with vents on your blinders so you get some fresh air.

>>62471979the kids need you in the same house. also the amount of time you will spend on bullshit like doing your laundry and charging your phone, stuff that would be much easier in a normal place, that time could be better spent working a afew more hours instead. it's like saving money by cycling 50 miles to work every day. just not worth the time in the end.by the way i never tried this but non-ai freelance writers are still needed these days. if you're serious about making money you can do it without leaving the home. any wfh job saves you money on gas and you gain an hour or two every day skipping th commute. that's a lot more economical than living in your car.

Honestly would not let your wife and kids move away from you. Skip the doordash and focus on spending time with them. I'm in a similar position and have a journal for each family member on how I can help them, goals for them, and things we can do together like road trips or playing video games or cooking meals or seeing our parents/friends etc. We're pretty happy. I would just do something like that and cut back on the hustler university content or whatever you're probably ingesting. P a c e yourself.

>>62472852This.
>Dad doesn't want another man in the house
The story is honestly so dumb that I'm not sure it's 100% fake.if your boss could put you on a road assignments for a month or 2 and you work from hotels while your wife finds an apartment from the in-laws house, that would make sense. You get some overtime/travel pay, everyone is a bit more cozy, and you stop by on the weekend a couple times to get personal time with your wife. But living in a car because grandpa won't have "another man." Holy that is some dented skull shit. Women pull lamer tricks on their dumb BFs/husbands though. If he really is just scraping by on WFH and gib driving, and his wife is trying to isolate the kids from him, it's a story we've all heard a thousand times: divorce. Her are some more tips for anyone looking to sleep in their car:-Again, window covers. The more secure and simple to remove the better. You can have separate screens to place in the open windows also, or make some sort of hybrid screen/cover with vents. If you're an animal who is okay with eyeballs looking at you while you sleep, you can skip that. (You probably won't like it.)-A gas stove and dishes are more trouble than they are worth. If you have some sort of travel route planned and are visiting parks you can do this more easily. They'll have tables to cook on and places to do your dishes. Disposable utensils and a cooler for supermarket deli. Welcome to diarrhea town, but it's a bit cheaper than takeout. A lot cheaper if you eat like an animal.-Taking the backseat out is obviously a good move. If you're a homeless bum, where are you going to store it?-Use a foam sleeping pad instead of a mattress. Air mattresses aren't expensive but they break often and you will be annoyed by them.-If you're sleeping in the driver's seat, keep a tent and a foam mattress with you. Your lower extremities need a proper rest every now and then, and a night rolling around in a tent is cheaper (and maybe cleaner) than a motel...
>>62477148...sleeping in a tent is better for you in the long run, but nodding off in the driver seat feels much safer as you just need to hit the ignition to go if cops or other interlopers show up. It's also much easier and you can turn on the car for a blast of AC or heat.-And the most important tip: DON'T LIVE IN YOUR CAR. Seriously. if you need to drive across the country you can sleep at truck stops a few nights and save the money/torment of going to shitty motels. All you need are some window covers and the idea to get back to living inside ASAP.
