Put these vending machines across Michigan and Oregon and pay customers 5 cents per bottle, then recycle the bottles at the recycling center for 10 cents.
>>62478107Sounds ok. How do you make sure people do it frequently enough to justify operating costs and electricity?
>>62478123They don't use that much electricity. I'll pitch them to businesses by arguing the savings from trash volume will outweigh the electricity costs. Put them near trash cans and entry/exit points so encourage people to use them
>>62478107instead of going to your vending machines to collect trash you could literally just go to the bin instead for free
>>62478192I'm assuming you mean rummaging through bins? too time consuming/messy
>>62478107Sounds like a solid way to make hundreds of dollars
>>62478138Id argue the logistics of carting each of these machines' payload might outweigh the gains. We're talking not just the operating electricity, but buying a truck or carrier van to deliver the load to the recyclers.Thats gas, insurance, and the initial cost and maintenance of the vehicle itself.
>>62478219You can pick up a used box truck for $10k. It will eventually pay for itself.
>>62478199>>62478107How many bottles fit in the machine, like 100? That’s $10 per trip. Actually $5. Assuming it fills once per day, you’d need to have 100 of these just to be making decent money. Also the stench and stickiness would be unimaginable.
>>62478107electricity costs and maitenance, especially from vandalism, would quickly make it unprofitable
>>62478574I’ll add that it’s not a bad idea, but to really get things going you would need wagies working for you, and you would need scale. 1000s of these in a city. And huge government support. That’s where the real money would be. We’re talking about multimillion dollar city wellness grants and the like, aka scams. Also the garbage companies would still have you beat on this one because people pay THEM for a plastic container that doesn’t consume electricity. And then the people paying for it fill up the recycling bin for free! And then the truck goes straight to the “recycling center “ for a big weighed payout subsidized by the city’s “green initiative.” Yep, I’m thinking this one’s covered the old fashioned way already. Why pay people when they give away their trash for free already?
>>62478614If the government was going to support this why wouldn’t they just install more of the machines that give the full 10 cents back instead?
