I've had jobs like that, it's great. I went to work and did an entire separate job the whole time, collecting something like 230k in one year. Blew almost like 3/4 of it on crapto alas, but it was a nice setup while it lasted.

Especially when you're senior you can always say you're busy with other things when some project or other wants more work from you. The most important thing is being easy to work with, especially for your manager and their manager. Don't ask for more work, don't rock the boat. Just do enough and have enough stories to tell when your manager asks what you're working on and you are fine. I've even had colleagues laid off when I wasn't because I'm easy to work with and follow these rules.

I basically have the same but I actually have to go into a plant in the heat/cold sometimes for less than an hour sometimes for most of the day. It's kinda nice that I get out and interact with equipment but Im just a middle man of communication most of the time or extremely niche info. That said, if they fire me theyd lose a lot of knowledge. Being a senior chemical/electrical/industrial engineer with a niche is a good build and I recommend it.
