people in the 1970's through early 2000's were far wealthier than you because cost of living was much lower, wages were much higher, and credit was much harder to get. Also no internet shopping.

that's all. Everyone had spending cash back then to blow at the mall. Now everyone has debt and if they get a spare buck they go online and spend it immediately.

I live pretty close to ICONSIAM mall in Thailand. If malls in America were half as good as this, they'd still be thriving.
>>
Good work boys
>>
>>62507305
It is related to our melanated friends, but not in the way everyone is implying. What has happened is that American society has been permanently fractured into a million cultural pieces. When you go the mall, and 60% of the people don't look like you or speak your language, you just feel uncomfortable and repulsed. It doesn't have to be niggers. It could asians and mexicans. Your mind quickly realizes the permanent state of disrepair the nation is in - never to be fixed. It's no fun to go somewhere when you just feel like a foreigner. The internet, amazon, etc of course magnified this quite a bit. But the real fuse was lit because people quite literally just don't want to exist in a sewer of unfamiliar peoples.
>>
>>62507478
Yeah you could actually buy a house with your wages that time. Now some boomer wants $500k for a starter home. Hell a shitty condo costs $250k now. Crazy.
>>
>>62507305
haha, they never really died out completely
>>
>>62508115
You could afford a house but you couldn't get a loan.

Credit was MUCH harder to get even though houses were MUCH cheaper to buy

Yep. We used to have nice, high trustworthy societies because we could all more or less identify with each other.
Multi-culturalism is destroying us, and diversity is NOT our strength.
When I grew up, we'd just walk into our neighbours house and play. Didn't matter.
No one locked their doors.
>>
>>62508218
>No one locked their doors
It used to be this way here in europe when I grew up. Now we have raefugees at the local station and everyone locks up.
>>
>>62508228
Wasn't it fucking amazing when you compare it to today's societies?
Like it was fucking heaven, because even if you didn't particularly know your neighbours, most of them loved you and you loved most of them by default because they looked like you, lived a similar lifestyle to you and your parents, you could identify with them, and if your parents died, they could easily raise you as their own without being weirded out by the way you look or behave.
It was beautiful.
>>
>>62507305
It's a double whammy. The first six posts spell it out for you. But also, if you needed to buy something you had to go to the store to get it. Almost nowhere delivered right to your door, and the places that did you still needed to go to their store first.
>>
>>62507478
OP is american and america is still one of the richest countries globally. americans just suck at stopping shoplifting, have out of control nigs, and are suck at building new developments so real estate rental is too high to profit causing empty stores. add to that huge remittances out of the country

Oversaturation- there are a lot of dying malls but also a lot of thriving ones. We just have too many and its easy for the old ones to enter death spiral.

Death of anchors- traditional department stores are in retreat and have been for decades. There are a lot of pressures on malls but there is still no death blow like losing its anchor stores.

Interestingly there are a lot of smaller thriving malls in australia that have grocery stores as anchors. Could work here but I dont think any grocery store would want people to have to walk past a butcher and greengrocer to get to them, which is often the case down there.

Category killers, big box stores, and internet shopping- there are a ton of options now, the lack of which was the entire reason malls took off in the first place.

And to prove this isn't ai- N

>but I dont think any grocery store would want people to have to walk past a butcher and greengrocer to get to them
I thought having greengrocers/butchers/fishmongers near the entrance of the store was standard practice around the world. What's the layout of US stores? What's near the entrance?
>>
>>62510531
The store is usually in a shopping center with a big parking lot in front of it.

Shopping centers usually restrict what businesses can operate there based on agreements with its current tenants. For example, a mcdonalds would restrict other hamburger restaurants. This is where the US gets is case law that determines that tacos are sandwiches, for example.

We have butchers here but I struggle to think of one that is in the same shopping center as a grocery store.

>>62507478
I reject doomer consumer purchasing power explanations for dying malls because they've been dying for decades. Also clothing has never been cheaper in human history and americans are buying six times as much as they did in the 70s, just not at malls.

Perhaps malls are inefficient and cant handle the reduced margins

Malls were originally designed as a place for white people to go to get away from detestables. Once buses started going into black neighborhoods on the same routes as malls, it was over.

Nigger why do you need a loan when you can straight up just save for a few years then simply buy it despite having to pay rent which is tiny and other expenses vs now where everything is fucking expensive?

In the future only those willing to post Nigger can be credibly believed to be human.
>>
>>62507656

>>62511970
Mall security had balls. Also as white people used the Internet to buy things the population became increasingly darker which created a bit of a death spiral ("wow this place is ghetto"->leaves->place is more ghetto). Also businesses largely shifted then to appeal to nogs- you have all sorts of stupid hat shops, shoe stores, etc etc.

rent has never been that cheap or wages that high.

back in the 80's I was making $12k per year and saving even $1k a year was extremely difficult.

sure, houses were like $25k, but that was 25 years of saving

Nope. It's not ALL diversity what kills it. It's the scum.
>>62508172
This is more important than people think. Credit = money printing (yes, banks lend out of thin air) = inflation. The easy credit is why people can't afford housing. And it's a drug for low IQs too.
>>62511878
First.
>>62512173
I'd breathe SO relieved. A place where I can relax with my family.
This is one of the reasons why I prefer to take my family to nature, hikes and hidden picnics away from cities. No diversity. No urban idiots. No "watch your pockets". Also I'm European so no dangerous fauna.
