I have $50k worth of student loans. during covid there was some weird stuff going on and i didnt have to pay anything. now they made me sign up for a payment plan and i chose to pay $196/month.

these loans have interest rates of 5-7% and i think its best to just pay $196 for the rest of my life, assuming they will let me. i would die with around $50k in student debt, which would be worth much less in a few decades. is this a good idea?

Yeah. You can aslo get on ibr and if you just live at 150% poverty line or whatever it is, the payment is subsidized then fogiven after 20 year. Even if you could afford to pay them off, dont do it in case you die (also forgiven)

Make sure you turn on Autopay, it reduces all of your loan interest rates by 1% which is huge
