I had to leave at the 5 year mark for tax reasons or I would have just stayed there forever
Now I visit 6 months every year as a Digital Nomad visa holder

Skill issue. Japan has many cities and Japanese people are only tired of tourists in 3 of them.

Kyushu gets so few tourists that locals will buy you food and drinks to talk to you. One of the most beautiful parts of japan too

Is you are American, look up zipair. If you book early enough, they charge $250-330 each way. If you dont have zipair near you, get a cheap frontier flight to San Francisco. SF has plenty of japan flights to Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo.

Once you are in japan, everything except Tokyo hotels are cheap.

The digital nomad visa is basically a tourist visa where it’s legal to work remotely. When i was last there I just worked remotely on a tourist visa which is technically illegal, but nobody cares on a short trip
