Op here. I make $70,000 a year. I have 6,000 dollars in credit card debt with 8 different cards, and $16,000 in student debt from my bachelors degree. I graduated in the summer of 2024. I don't care anymore. ;)

I know this from firsthand experience [spoiler]over someone else's debt, because they refused to give me a fair trial[/spoiler].Now if you have nothing to lose, and the bank is dumb enough to let you pile up $100k in debt you'll never repay, and have nothing for them to seize, that's kind of their problem. But for most people, the harm they'll inflict on you (take your car, home, paychecks, basically anything that isn't cash hidden under your bed) is more than what you'd get from an exit scam. Banks usually do eat a loss when writing off delinquent accounts, but you won't come out unscathed.
