Kayabanerve (aka Mr. Proof of Stake) doesn’t even try to make the case that it’s not possible for an exchange to “demand” (really, “retain” is the right word, for a CEX) your view keys. His argument is………..it just snowballs out of control???? Not really an argument at all, actually. Just some nice words for people to glom onto.

CARROT and new regulations will REQUIRE CEXes to retain view keys when you CREATE AN ACCOUNT on there. The use of the term “wallet” for a cex is probably needlessly confusing. These are accounts on a controlled website. They’ll retain your view keys for auditing purposes on the account you sign up for on the website they own. That’s the real flow of things.

Despite that one idiot’s contention that…..nobody will buy Monero if it’s on Binance kek…they will lol. Millions will. It will be very popular, just like it was before. And we will be flooded by normies. Market makers. Manipulators. The same people who destroyed every other coin. AND it will allow authorities to create a VERY complex context web of Monero addresses and activity, thereby directly reducing your privacy.

THANKS KAYABANERVE!!!!

Y'all are missing the point of the CARROT "FUD" here. Its actually a moonfag red herring being used to slyly push the "OH NOES, looks like Monero will be made compliant will thus inevitably be relisted on CEXs soon" meme with the subtle implication that this totally plausible scenario will somehow result in an epic pump (lol) so hurry up and ape in b4 you're priced out!

>If you've been paying attention you know 10/10 revealed the degree to which these players control ALL coins. They're responsible for 99.999% of the market cap. The moment XMR is added back to exchanges, this will also be true for it.

>You obviously don’t understand how rich MMs are. They would pump the price to thousands overnight and they would keep it there with their own methods. Just, a little tiny catch, it comes at the expense of Moneros privacy.

>Your little farmers market agorism businesses are no match for market makers and retarded retail. Monero WILL be 99% MMs and retail once it goes back on CEXes. And, unfortunately, CARROT makes this completely doable from a regulatory standpoint.

See? It's just another cringe bag pumping ploy disguised as le genuine concern. "Unfortunately", lol give me a fucking break! Never forget that moonfags don't actually care about Monero and its adoption, economic growth, etc, everything they say or do all boils down to securing exit liquidity for themselves and nothing more. Which is why they get the rope.

It bears repeating that there is virtually zero chance of XMR being relisted because unlike all other coins, XMR is actually used and used in such a way that the State simply has to treat it like a viable threat. Relisting XMR makes no sense when you're actively trying to stifle the growth of a global P2P underground economy, when you're actively trying to cut unregulated entrepreneurs off from convenient off-ramping, it simply is not going to happen and we're going to have to rely on an expansive network of DEXs for all future liquidity.
>>
>>62522504
>I won't explain what they're waiting for
I have explained it, but I guess I need to do it again for the caved in head retards in the back.

They’re waiting for CARROT, the very upgrade that ALLOWS them to list Monero in a complaint way. They can’t do it today without full view keys. Monero is still too private. CARROT changes this, allows them to list, invites in hordes of retards, does in fact pump the price like >>62522504 says, but also kills Monero’s privacy.

You want to call me a moonfag red herring but it’s actually you idiots who are doing that. Inviting in the CARROT Trojan Horse based solely on the reputation of kayabanerve (whether you admit it or not) meanwhile that very update will create the normie moonfag coin you say you’re against.

You’ve been brain broken by agorist crabbing for almost a decade now and you’ve psychologically convinced yourself your own moonfag update is actually an amazing improvement in privacy kek
>>
>>62522653
Meant to tag >>62522630 too.

>XMR is actually used and used in such a way that the State simply has to treat it like a viable threat.
That’s exactly why they’re going to relist it. To give it the ZEC treatment. Sure, XMR will moon, but listing it brings in a tidal wave of normies who will overwhelm the culture and make 99% of transactions occur on CEXes with no privacy. If you actually want to kill Monero, LIST IT. So they will.
>>
>>62521322
>>I have no conception of anyone in the world outside my little agorism community
>MMs

>Normies

>Privacy enthusiasts
No interest in a KYC'ed CEX
>Already existing XMR user
Got alternatives and not interest in a KYC'ed CEX
So which user group remains? Divorced women in their 40s? Dog owners? Fish?

>>62521333
>His argument is………..it just snowballs out of control????
The argument is that your logic is wrong. You arbitrarily say 'Oh this thing will happen but this other thing that is just as justified as the first won't'.
>CARROT and new regulations will REQUIRE CEXes to retain view keys when you CREATE AN ACCOUNT on there.
No, AML laws still don't work like this.
>That’s the real flow of things.
And it takes much longer than any user just downloading the gui wallet and creating his own wallet.
>they will lol. Millions will.
See above.
>AND it will allow authorities to create a VERY complex context web of Monero addresses and activity, thereby directly reducing your privacy.
And then they will send you a letter to give up your view keys because they deanonymized you right?

Come back once you understand the difference between opt-in and opt-out privacy.

>>62522220

You’re aggressively retarded bro. Not wasting much time on you this thread there’s simply no point
>>
>>62522698
>>just declares that nobody outside his little agorism commune would ever want to buy XMR. No evidence required.
Why would normies be interested in XMR? Remember, in the last thread you claimed that it's only value stems from it being an sov which according to you is not given once relisting happen.
>>STILL refuses to even entertain the idea of what a CEX ACCOUNT is
Irrelevant since you don't understand that AML laws still require of them for you to also be KYC'ed so no one's selling to a CEX anyway
>and how it fundamentally differs from wallets
Also irrelevant since users want something to transfer their XMR to. They won't care if it's a CEX account (which still has a wallet, I don't know why you think they don't) or a wallet, but they will care if one takes multiple hours to create while the other is up and running in minutes.

Ive tried wrapping my head around the carrot issue by having a conversation with AI.
From what i gather exchanges could always and probably have always handed over their xmr transaction history to glowniggers.
Carrot just makes it possible to hand over that data automatically as opposed to manually handing over your database.

Am I wrong in my understanding of this?
>>
Later this year, when FCMP/CARROT is implemented, Monero will quickly pump to the $2,000 range. People in this very general will be celebrating.

They’ll consider it a major win for privacy (kek). They’ll believe it is the most significant upgrade in moneros history, and cements it as the greatest currency ever created.

Shortly afterwards, major exchanges will begin relisting. This will reveal that a major reason behind the pump was accumulation by exchanges. Still, people in this general will wave it off. Who cares if Binance brought it back? They listed us for years and nothing bad happened anyway! What could go wrong?

A few people notice subtle changes in the UI, the ToS, something about the data required to maintain an account? Idk whatever. Monero is pumping (remember how we were against moonfags? Kek).

Then come the arrests. A few notable hackers and members of the community who had some “private coins” in exchanges had their view keys used to track their activity. It’s fine, that’s a human problem. Opsec failure.

Slowly but surely, the view keyed accounts on Binance, Coinbase, build a massive database of metadata and context to drastically reduce Moneros privacy. But because of the squeaky clean reputation of Monero, nobody believes it actually has an effective privacy leak.

Gentlemen, I’ll see you on the moon. Just………don’t think nobody is surveilling your trip ;-)
>>
>>62522721
Replying to tell you I’m done replying. It’s like talking to an autistic kid who reverts back to his ticks after every interaction. You’re a horrible representative of the Monero community
>>
>>62522738
>Then come the arrests. A few notable hackers and members of the community who had some “private coins” in exchanges had their view keys used to track their activity.

What do you mean by this? If your xmr is in an exchange you dont even have a wallet to hand over a viewkey. Your transactions are entirely transparent to the exchange.
>>
>>62522752
Opsec problem, outside of scope for Monero ;-) kek
>>
Basically thats just an argument against CEXs or rather any exchange platform that stores transaction data, no?
>>
>>62522755
Im genuinely trying to have a conversation here. Im not interested in playing some gotcha game.
>>62522757
>>
>>62522757
Yes it is an anti-CEX statement. But nobody cares enough to oppose the update that makes Monero CEX-compliant (CARROT).

When it is allowed back on exchanges, it becomes the same as zcash: 99% of transactions on exchanges, effectively minimal privacy.
>>
>>62522759
Ok I can understand that. I dont think that this will prevent people from using xmr as anonymous digital cash though.
Or are you arguing that de-anonymising the entire network is a risk here? I think the only people at risk would be the people using CEXs in a very specific way making probabilistic analysis possible. But even then thats exactly what possible now.

I also think that DEXs are just as capable of tracking and storing transaction histories and probably offering them for sale. The only difference being that CEXs have more data because of KYC.

But now were back to status quo: KYC sucks
>>
>>62522759
>99% of transactions on exchanges, effectively minimal privacy.

Buying and selling xmr on an exchange isnt a real xmr transaction though and has no bearing on the privacy of the network. It feels like youre conflating some things.
>>
>>62522736
Pretty much

>>62522738
>They’ll consider it a major win for privacy (kek).
How is FCMP++ not a win? Please explain what FCMP++ is and what it does. Ideally start with unpacking the acronym
>>62522738
>Shortly afterwards, major exchanges will begin relisting.
No, the big issues CEXes had were with the KYCing part. Also, and I don't know why you ignore this (that's a lie, I do know why), it's easily fought by just having a second wallet, an approach we had 3 YEARS AGO.
>This will reveal that a major reason behind the pump was accumulation by exchanges
No, they'll once again claim it was hackers. They never will allow XMR to grow massively.
>something about the data required to maintain an account?
CEXes already got this, AML laws are nothing new.
>Then come the arrests.
How are they going to deanonymize you? Remember: Privacy != anonymity
>the view keyed accounts on Binance, Coinbase, build a massive database of metadata and context to drastically reduce Moneros privacy.
That's not how anonymity works. Your posts on 4chan are public (meaning non-private) but anonymous.
>the squeaky clean reputation of Monero,
lol

>>62522759
>But nobody cares enough to oppose the update that makes Monero CEX-compliant (CARROT).
Because it literally doesn't and I told you ten times already.
>When it is allowed back on exchanges,
It won't be
>it becomes the same as zcash:
No because XMR is private by default, zcash has optional privacy.
>99% of transactions on exchanges,
You still haven't said why. Literally no one has a reason to sell to a CEX and no one has a reason to buy from a CEX
>effectively minimal privacy.
And none of this reduces your anonymity.

>>62522758
Notice how he won't tell you why you can't use a second wallet? Or who exactly is just waiting for XMR to be on a CEX so he can finally buy XMR? I suggest you read the previous thread too, starting from >>62514724. Feel free to check out his previous posts in which he claimed that all that matter is ngu
>>
>>62522777
>But now were back to status quo: KYC sucks
Yes, but he doesn't understand this. He thinks AML laws just require someone to track the wealth transfer through a financial instrument but not the sender and recipient.
>>
>>62522787
>XMR is private by default
>use a second wallet
You will LITERALLY say this in the same post and not realize how retarded it is. Truly insane. Get some help.

>no one has a reason to buy from a CEX
You have an astonishingly low opinion of your own coin and an inconceivable lack of a mental model of anyone other than yourself. I literally 100% believe you have a mental illness. It’s not normal to be this brain dead.

> who exactly is just waiting for XMR to be on a CEX
Normies (95% of people)
Market makers (95% of liquidity)
Pretty big deal actually
>>
XMR vs ZEC (on exchanges)

ZEC
>yeah it’s not private on the exchange but just transfer to another pool and you’ll have privacy

XMR
>yeah it’s not private on the exchange but just transfer to another ***WALLET*** and you’ll have privacy

If you literally believe that the semantic difference between pool and wallet has some massive legal implication you’re just delusional.
>>
This coin really is the funniest. Everyone else worried about price meanwhile here
>yeah the coin will moon ofc but who cares heres 3 paragraphs of autism
>>
>They’re waiting for CARROT, the very upgrade that ALLOWS them to list Monero in a complaint way.
>Instead of just requiring today's view keys + key images.
>They can’t do it today without full view keys, even though today's view keys + key images would give them the same amount of information
>Monero is still too private with 16 rings
>CARROT changes this somehow

>>62522685
Correct, but I'm trying to keep things simple because he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, nor is he interested in knowing.

>>62522757
>>62522758
Correct, but the problem is that the anti-CEX argument still works today. There's literally no reason to wait for the next hard fork to make Monero 'compliant' in this manner. CEXs would just need to demand you share your view key + all key images associated with your address.
The CARROT fud isn't fudding CARROT, FCMP++, or even view keys. It's fudding Monero.
>>
>>62522820
But its not private on an exchange regardless of carrot or not.
>>
>>62522828
They won’t list it pre-carrot because it doesn’t have enough auditability
>>
>>62522812
>You will LITERALLY say this in the same post and not realize how retarded it is. Truly insane. Get some help.
Yes, private by default. CEX is not the default. If you still chose to give up you privacy you could easily retake it.
>You have an astonishingly low opinion of your own coin
No I have a high opinion of other people, hence them realizing not to use a CEX.
>It’s not normal to be this brain dead.
Says a guy who already said he'd stop responding twice.
>Normies (95% of people)
No, they don't care for XMR
>Market makers (95% of liquidity)
They could just easily buy XMR right now. They are not under AML laws as long as they're not a CEX.

>>62522820
>If you literally believe that the semantic difference between pool and wallet has some massive legal implication you’re just delusional.
No, the difference is what is happening by default.
XMR: Private by default, but you can choose to fuck up your privacy
ZEC: Public by default, but you can choose to have some privacy.

>>62522824
>nor is he interested in knowing.
Yeah, that's sadly his issue.

>>62522822
We've had problems with moonfags, they even tried to do a malicious take over of the general. We've added some more neutral language now to the general's OP.

>>62522833
AML laws don't just require it to be auditable, they problem is and remains KYC.
>>
>>62522669
>That’s exactly why they’re going to relist it. To give it the ZEC treatment.
ZEC is safe to list precisely because nobody actually uses it, you fucking imbecile. If ZEC was being used to facilitate untaxable agorist commerce on a global scale, reward ransomware pirates and evade sanctions it would also get the Monero treatment.

Its the actual use of Monero that makes it problematic, not its privacy per se. Piratechain is technically more private than Monero (not for much longer) but who cares when literally nobody is using it? Listing ARRR on Coinbase thus wouldn't be detrimental to anybody.

In other words, as long as Monero is actually being used in ways that facilitate crime, threaten the State and undermine its authority, there will be no relisting on CEXs. GUARENTEED! Start a bet on Polymarket if you're convinced otherwise, I double dare you, motherfucker.

>Sure, XMR will moon
See, fellas? This is exactly what I was talking about, the CARROT "FUD" is all just a moonfag red herring for pointing out how XMR is totally going the moon very soon, don't miss out!

>but listing it brings in a tidal wave of normies who will overwhelm the culture and make 99% of transactions occur on CEXes with no privacy. If you actually want to kill Monero, LIST IT. So they will.

I'll add that the CARROT fud also adds distrust in the network and community, which is a real goal for glowies.

See: https://academic.oup.com/cybersecurity/article/7/1/tyab004/6166133

>The ultimate aim of new tools in the blockchain space should be to reduce the economic value of the outlawed native cryptocurrency whose value drives the operation of a given platform, in particular by reducing trust in the stability and security of the network. If effective, means that reduce the value of the cryptocurrency will therefore reduce the number of the network’s users and nodes. The decreasing number of users and nodes (and thus the decreasing infrastructural and political decentralization [66]) should automatically reduce blockchain security. Networks underlying the privacy-coins will then become more vulnerable to further attacks on their currencies or any activities reducing the value of given privacy coins, which can be systematically repeated by a government until the virtual assets cease to be accepted for payments or used for investment purposes.

It's a network attack... it exploits how Monero and Tor interact together, not the on-chain crypto

Exactly bro. These mooncarrots can’t earn ANYTHING. They think this is some “investments” board like they’re going to make money out of THIN AIR just by the appreciation of some asset they hold hahahaha!

Meanwhile we real Monero chads understand bartering is the only legitimate way to earn wealth. I sell my cheese, I bake my bread, I haggle over 0.0001 XMR. It matters. It’s not much, but it’s honest work. All these losers can go off and buy lambos, houses, businesses, women, political connections, literal influence over world events, islands, boats, helicopters, private jets, commission artwork, fund charities and philanthropy, travel and see the world, hire staff to make life easier, support their children and family, use their money to make even more money with diversification and cash flow, etc etc …… and all these other STUPID things that people with no VISION actually care about.

And what’s it all get them? NOTHING. That’s what we agorists understand. Monero could go down to $8 tomorrow and I would celebrate. Celebrate with my cheese. My baked bread. My Monero.

>The main problem with CARROT is that I don't want to have to make two new wallets every time I buy from a CEX

You've always been advised to have 2 wallets when buying from a CEX to avoid EAE attacks. You can make 2 wallets every time if you wanted but that'd be OD.

>The other problem is being part of the reduced set of people doing this OBVIOUSLY because they have something to hide (in the eyes of normalfags), thus being unfairly targeted.

If you're using 2 wallets when buying from a CEX like you've always been advised to do, then no one will be able to tell where your coins went anyway. This will be especially true with FCMP since you won't have to mess around with waiting for x blocks to avoid decoy algorithm attacks, turning your coins, etc; one hop will be enough to make your outputs indistinguishable from all other outputs in the chain. All of this is assuming that the wallet you're using to interact with CEXs had it's view key shared/forced complied away from you/stolen/whatever the fuck

Fact: current view-only wallets ('view keys') are BROKEN

This means that if you have a self-custody wallet (and since you're using Monero, you definitely do) and use a seperate (online) view-only wallet, that wallet's balance won't be properly synced and display the correct amount when having done spendings

Bad news: view keys have always existed.
Making Monero CEX-compliant by forcing all their customers to turn over their view keys is possible right now. There's no need to wait for the hard fork to do this.
Worae news: CEXs wouldn't need your key images to effectively identify your true spends in the ring signature if they know what they're doing

Good news: you can jump ship right now because Monero is already CEX-compliant, at least in the sense that it comes with a view key that can effectively identify your true spends. Good luck!

Here is something interesting and important to know

When looking at the Coinmarketcap top 100 list, we as human intuitively give the rankings a linear and equal value
Compare it to a car race result, where the finish-time difference between the #1 ranking down to #20 would be largely linear

In crypto's MCAP share, the ranking difference is GIGANTIC; look at this graph (and note XMR)

This basically means that climbing from #20 to #5 is negligible, the only real measure is who's capable of capturing Bitcoin's MCAP
And Monero stands are the most powerful candidate to do so
>>
>>62554951
Jump ship? Crapto was abandoned the moment so called "devs" and "labs" went full on licking the boot to become the newest addition to a since 40 years bankrupt ponzi scheme around boomers mindlessly dumping liquidity into ponzi papers, they now want to cash out and greater fools getting rare.
Xmr might have been interesting if it remained non compliant and divorced from the elder ponzi, but as it looks like crapto as a whole failed the test. Can die with the ponzinomy

xmr WAS apparently not able until now to satisfy the AML, KYC and anti money laundering regulations, which made it impossible for elder ponzi companies and pyramid corporations to have it on its books. If that changes it is possible to draft regulations and enact them so xmr can be on their books and, same as buttcorn, gets integrated into the greater ponzi and loses all its value.

Fuck off, Mav, there is no "we" here. Increasingly problematic Monero usage means XMR simply isn't getting relisted on CEXs regardless of CARROT, governments have no interest in making it easier for plebs to access unregulated/untaxable markets or for enterprising criminals to cash out with fewer roadblocks. Illicit usage as always been the issue here, not compliance per se, you fucking numbskull.

And as mentioned, you're in a position to profit handsomely from all this by placing a bet accordingly on Polymarket. As per your "prediction" that:

>Later this year, when FCMP/CARROT is implemented, Monero will quickly pump to the $2,000 range.
>Shortly afterwards, major exchanges will begin relisting.

the bet thus becomes a simple YES/NO proposition:

>Will Monero be relisted on major CEXs like Binance and Coinbase soon (lets say within 3 months) after the relevant hardfork?

If you're right, its literally the easiest money you'll ever score. All you gotta do is place the bet and reap the inevitable rewards, genius. You're more than welcome to do this, but you have to trust the CEX to accept your XMR and give you fiat for it. This is not always as simple as it sounds, even if you follow all the rules and regulations imposed by the CEX/government

>If you want to buy XMR as an investment, pay taxes on the gains, and get the money transferred to your bank account so you can spend it in the real world, why wouldn’t you use a CEX?
You always run the risk of getting caught in a KYC loop ("we require more information") or even getting your funds frozen. This is especially true for privacy coins since they arouse the greatest amount of suspicion and scrutiny and are liable to trigger any number of arbitrary red flags.

Using a CEX = playing Russian Roulette these days. Good luck with that.

Centralization is still bad and you don't need to KYC yourself to pay taxes. I hope you're not asking me how you can turn XMR into fiat.
Why would you give up your anonymity, privacy and freedom if it isn't required? Why are you even investing in XMR if you don't believe in any of these?

Because the information is out there and the rules can change at any time. Some leftoid or rightoid politician could raise the capital gains tax or ban crypto or use it as a basis to sabotage you or whatever. I say this as someone who uses some centralized exchanges. Even though this is unlikely, it compromises the vision of permissionless money, so it erodes the value of monero in the long run to the extent that it could happen.

So we should all try to use monero in the most bulletproof way. Anything less is a bear signal for monero and crypto in general.

Exactly bro. It’s so simple. Everyone is familiar with this process from having used zcash so often. Couldn’t be simpler.

Monero is private. You just might have to change wallets sometimes in case an auditor is tracking everything you do. :)

STOP USING FUCKING TELEGRAM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SIGNAL REQUIRES A PHONE NUMBER TOO AND IT ISN'T RUN BY A GUY WHO'S GETTING HIS ASSHOLE TUNNELED INTO BY EVERY GOVERNMENT EVER. STOP MAKING ME USE TELEGRAM. LITERALLY IRC IS BETTER BECAUSE AT LEAST THE FEDS DON'T NECESSARILY OWN THE SERVER. EVEN BETTER. XMPP. MATRIX. YOU CAN RUN A MATRIX BOT. MATRIX WORKS FINE. SIGNAL CAN RUN BOTS TOO. STOP MAKING ME USE FUCKING TELEGRAM. GET A SECOND SUPPORT ACCOUNT. IF ALL OF CRYPTO JUMPED OFF A BRIDGE AND INTO THE FEDS ARMS WOULD YOU TOO? NO THAT'S WHY WE'RE ON MONERO. STOP USING TELEGRAM. YOU KNOW WHY YOU HEAR ABOUT ALL THESE HACKERS USING TELEGRAM? BECAUSE THEY GET POPPED BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT WATCHES TELEGRAM BECAUSE CONVERSATIONS AREN'T ENCRYPTED UNLESS YOU SET THEM TO BE WHICH YOU NEVER ARE. ALL YOUR SHIT IS LOGGED IF YOU USE TELEGRAM. STOP USING TELEGRAM. EVEN IF YOU ARE USING A BOUGHT TELEGRAM AND NOT YOUR REAL PHONE NUMBER YOU'RE STILL GETTING LOGGED AND YOU JUST DON'T HAVE TO BE LOGGED. YOU COULD BE USING ANY NUMBER OF E2E SERVICES. STOP USING TELEGRAM. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. PLEASE STOP.

Is XMR still the only proper cryptocurrency? i.e. the only crypto that's actually untraceable and used by criminals and the like? or are there other 'privacy coins' now that are better or at least providing some genuine competition to XMR?

I know this isn't exactly an unbiased place to ask, but try to be impartial. Thanks.
>>
>>62570343
ZCash is the only competitor and it's purely because it's privacycucked so it can be listed more places. Everything else is, unfortunately, FOTM memecoin shit. Criminals use BTC because it's Bitcoin, stablecoins (especially USDT) because they're stablecoins, and XMR because it's XMR. >ZCash is the only competitor
This would imply ZEC is actually out there competing. It ain't. Nobody actually uses Zcash just like nobody actually uses BTC or anything else other than XMR and select stablecoins. Hoarding isn't using no matter how much delusional baggies insist otherwise.

Unlike ZEC, BTC, etc, Monero is consistently and increasingly used as p2p digital cash for the unregulated exchange of real goods and services, it has real, organic demand that isn't wholly dependent on pie-in-the-sky hype narratives that slick market manipulators feed to gullible speculators as they slurp up exit liquidity.

In short, Monero is the only coin with genuine staying power, the only coin that we can be very certain will survive the coming Cryptopocalypse simply by virtue of all that growing non-speculative demand. Shoppers still be shopping, yo.

So now would be an optimal moment to start entrepreneurmaxxing: sell valuable goods or services, gradually establish a satisfied and therefore growing customer base and always be profiting no matter the price.

Good job, that's the precise problem the fudders have. Their fear mongering only works when you're already deanonymized
>>
>>62571243
>an auditor
While this is central to the anti-mooncarrot position it isn’t the only problem.

Yes, giving your view keys to an auditor (aka a CEX in the vast majority of cases) is a problem as it allows your activity to be tracked plus the creation of contextual networks that work to deanonymize Monero overall.

The second order effect of that is the existence of normies. Because 99% of people are retarded, as Monero gets added to CEXes that means that 99% of Monero transactions are now adding to the contextual network mentioned above. You have now a network full of deanonymized transactions because normies want to have the simplest UX and don’t understand why people are saying they should to be using platforms that are harder to use than Coinbase.

The THIRD order effect is that having Monero on CEXes necessarily ties it to the underlying economy of the dying world order. We know full well that economic attacks on Monero are used to undermine interest in the coin and suppress its value as a legitimate money that people can live on. By adding it to CEXes, you by extension add it to funds, financial products and instruments, and allow Monero’s future to be inextricably linked to the market action of the dying empire. These agorists pretend that their ability to transact alone is the only thing necessary to maintain Monero as money. Because they lack a systems oriented perspective, they don’t understand that listing Monero on CEXes is tantamount to an economic nuclear bomb that transfers the fate of Monero over to, essentially, the Federal Reserve. Total surrender to the Dollar.

Any argument against the anti-CARROT position must address ALL THREE of these issues. But the moonCARROTs can’t do that because they know their update will allow re-listings. They don’t care because they want that juicy pump.

The hypothetical CEX in question that you're buying/XMR on, which already has your name, address, age, phone number, email, and photo id can also request the view key of the wallet that you're withdrawing to/depositing from.

That's it. That's the "debacle"

Monero is opt-out privacy. If you opt out by giving someone your view key, then you have to opt back in.
You act like it is some sort of nebulous up-in-the air thing. It's pretty simple. if an exchange or something forces you to hand over your view keys, you treat that intermediary account as if the exchange can see it, because they can. It's not unlike how the exchanges can see everything you are doing on their centralzied database before you pull your coins out. The worst case is that the barrier of where the exvhange ends and your wallet begins moves one step over, while the usability of monero massively improves due to better view keys

Not to mention that they could accomplish the same thing now by telling you on a regular basis to sweep your funds to another wallet, wait N blocks, and then give up your secret keys for the old wallet. Thats really no different than a view key and is supported by the current architecture

Do you have any idea how old and stale this fucking argument is? Incidentally it’s exactly what the Bitcoiners and the Zcashers say. Muh cryptography muh code. Show me the line of code heheheh

Fuck you.

Neither your post nor any of the ones you’re referencing acknowledge the fact that YOUR problems come from other humans as well. The problems with CARROT are inherently and inescapably human, and no amount of code or cryptography resolves them.

What is a contextual network in the realm of blockchain analysis? The reality that OTHER HUMANS intentionally allow themselves to be tracked by CEXes and thereby reduce YOUR effective privacy by their stupidity.

What is a financial network? The interdependencies created by the economic power of OTHER HUMANS relative to the ability for your particular asset to function as it should.

This is why your pithy appeals to code make absolutely no sense in 2026. They sounded like an intelligent conversation-ender in 2015, but now they’re just retarded.

How do you resolve the fact that retards will share their view keys with Coinbase and create a massive contextual web of Monero transactions? Where is the “line of code” that resolves that?

How do you resolve the fact that CARROT allows massive CEXes, market makers and eventually institutions to own Monero and therefore have full financial control over the ultimate fate of the coin? What “line of code” handles that error? Faggot.

My so-called “FUD” is a practical criticism based on the actual events in the real world. A difficult concept for agorists, to be sure. But a very real and important thing nonetheless.

>>62573851
> the solution would be to have something that can't be deanonymized even if you try to doxx yourself, and I'm not sure how that would even be possible
We can start by not making deanonymization easier. It should be very difficult to build a network of linked Monero transactions. Difficult as in you literally have to manually find and assemble the network without any assistance from Monero itself. That’s the current state. It’s practically extremely difficult to build a Monero contextual network because it basically requires a million people to upload screenshots.

CARROT changes this by literally HELPING auditors build the tracking network. A handy dandy export tool that shows all of your transactions. It completely eliminates the practical barriers to entry of making a system like this possible. Why should we? Oh for hardware wallets that are obviously compromised anyway. Thanks guys.
