>>62539078When markets expect long-term inflation, the cost to borrow money via long-term bonds goes up, because the money investors are going to get paid back in the future won't be worth as much as money today. The FED announced no rate hike and seem like they don't really have a plan to tackle inflation, so long-term bond yields are going up. It will cost more for the government to borrow money, it will cost more for corporations to continue to borrow money for AI build-out, and 30-year mortgage rates will go up. >is it good for stocks and crypto Probably not. People generally rotate out of stocks and into bonds when yields go up. Credit default swaps seem attractive, too.
>>62538190Good. Cop bond will become cheaper and more attractive
>>62538190I was on /biz/ when the part in picrelated happened; everyone was freaking out because of how low it was, trying to guess what implications this had on things. Then covid happened, so it's hard to say what implications a low yield curve actually had, but for the past several years I've believed that covid was used as an excuse to deploy the usual financial instruments used during a major market crash but avoid saying that such a crash occured and instead blame everything on covid. Now it's high and people are freaking out all over again. So if the yield curve is low it's bad, and if it's high it's also bad. I'm supposed to take a metric like that seriously?
>>62539088no risks. your investment is safe and the globohomo empire will pay you back in 2056
