leverage. even if it goes up again, they sidelined a huge chunk of their own population with this crash who got margin called.

has a history of leading every major financial crisis in the last 50-years: 1998 Asia crisis, 2000 dot-com bubble, 2008 GLF crisis and it has shit the bed again. Giddy up

This is exactly what 1929 was like. Get ready.

Just a typical market bubble. Nothing wrong with that.

Its crazy, how gambling addicts creep into the stock market. Im in the opinion crypto exploding during covid was by design by BlackRock or other financial institutions to get GenZ and GenAlpha into trading, since GenY and younger stopped partaking in investing in general. Instead of teaching them to invest long term, they spiked their dopamine receptors with quick, game-like successes. These made-up digital currencies pumping short term and dumping long term, meant the early bird caught the worm. Fundamentals meant nothing, just FIFO-investing with large sums of money. Now after 7 years these GenZs and -Alphas are in their teens to early adult life and doing similar with what they learned in the crypto casinos. They are even driven to gambling since the Boomers are hoarding all wealth and even wasting their inheritance on useless memorabilia etc.
South Koreans see no future. Their birth rate is in decline and meritocracy means nothing anymore. Hiring world wide is at an all time low and now AI is making all knowledge attained through studious pursuit and ambition worthless! Those who wanted to achieve something are now being punished, while the lazy individuals with bad grades CURRENTLY still have a means to finance themselves.
This is their last chance to escape the rat race is what they are telling themselves.

Financial illiterate here, where did the money from all those liquidations go? Did someone have an incentive to margin call that many retail investors, and is it possible to manipulate the price that much just to get that liquidation money

Largely went to the market makers who have a lower cost basis or have a strategy to gain shares for other reasons like board control, leverage for B2B, future speculation etc...

Oh god. I can't even laugh at this. It's sad when intelligent people somehow act like retards. Of all the people in the world I don't enjoy Koreans heroing.
What led 10% of Koreans, therefore like 20% of productive adults, to go balls-deep in a late-stage bubble with leverage? You can guess a good 5M people losing their savings is a massive event that will be recorded in history books. I wish them the best despite their stupidity.

leveraged "single stock ETFs" were introduced and their usage marketed by the government (i.e. chaebols) to give the false impression of safety. shorting these ETFs was also banned. this laid the groundwork for a pump and dump of national proportions

Don't forget that Korea was one of the poorest country in the world only a few decades ago. People were dying from starvation until the early 1970's, and they were receiving UN food aid from Africa.

Korea only developed at an insane speed because of an insane world-tier drive to get to the top at all costs. Korea is a developed nation now, but that insane culture of needing to quickly progress at all-costs is still running high, like an over-revved engine in neutral gear.

that's why the Korean people can be summed-up as this:

First-world economy, with third world mentality. The vast majority of Koreans living in Korea right now were born when it was an undeveloped and developing nation. The sense of calm you get in Europe and Japan is something you get when you're developed for a much longer time.

They're Korean, it's not a huge loss for humanity.
>>

another fun fact is that North Korea was genuinely wealthier than South Korea until the 1980's. South Korean border patrols at the DMZ were busier catching people running to the north than the other way around.
>>
>>62541989
Interesting fact is north koreas gdp per capita, adjusted for inflation, is the same as it was in the 60s at $1,200

Speak for yourself faggot I'm loving this. Koreans are genuinely a plague upon financial markets. Everything they touch turns into a shitcoin. Degenerate culture, degenerate porn, degenerate film industry, degenerate food, degenerate music, and most of all degenerate fucking gamblers. I really do hope KOSPI drops another -50% and more of these overleveraged faggots that are a cancer on every market start tossing themselves off bridges. Fucking degenerate gook pieces of shit. China needs to twist the knee just a little harder on their necks.
