In Angloid society, being anonymously reported to management or the local town council puts you into the Untouchable caste. Angloids truly believe that you are guilty until proven innocent, and that if people are complaining about you, you must be some sort of rabble rouser and/or racist. Once it's known that you have been reported, you have to spend years clearing your name, and it can be too much for many to endure. Her path for career advancement was permanently damaged regardless.I don't think you can imagine the knife edge that these people live on. Imagine the pressure to conform, the pressure to maintain consensus about all current news events or political opinions ("Was that woman in the news raped and murdered by a protected group that's allowed to rape due to cultural misunderstandings and lack of social welfare programs? Am I supposed to be angry or ignore it? Do they think I'm a racist or a rape apologist?"), questioning if you unknowingly made a face when your Nigerian coworker microwaved their crab and okra stew in the office, not knowing if you were supposed to say your coworkers hijab looked beautiful of her ("Was I being patronizing? Is that Orientalism? Is the hijab a symbol of modesty and chasteness and therefore commenting on her appearance was Islamophobic AND misogynistic?").You can't be quiet because they'll say you are withdrawn and judgemental and arrogant. You can't be loud because they'll say you are talking over them and trying to control everyone and always need to be the center of attention. You can't be silly all the time because they'll say you are childish or flippant as a means of deflection. You can't be serious all the time because they'll say you too severe and people feel they have to walk on eggshells around you. You have to strike a perfect balance at all times - one slip up, and you are done for.
