Did you guys get my post about the fund called NTSD?I can explain again why it's so great, but I don't feel like it this time unless someone asks. I'll just briefly say what it is.It's a 1.5x leveraged ETF, 35 bps fees, miniscule drag. It's basically 90% SPY and 60% EFA (basically a global SPY)In case someone doesn't understand why that's great. The 60 EFA because it's not correlated with SPY, smooths out the volatility. The practical volatility it gets is just a little bit more volatile than QQQ. Higher return than QQQ as well, without the concentration risk of QQQ and you won't get wrecked by a tech correcton.. You could full port this ETF. It comes just enough diversified. No small caps or emerging market, but this could be a good thing depending on what you want. The reason it could be good is that small caps and emerging markets are volatile. So with this, you're getting a leveraged ETF of the biggest 1000 public companies in the world

>>62553242this guy can't afford grande strawberry matcha frappacinos...
>>62553246>stocksIt's having an ownership/stake in a company. It's not just making stuff out of thin air. If you buy Apple stock, you're partial owner of Apple where the value of the stock is related to how well the company is doing, where the company may directly influence the value of the stock by issuing dividends (you get paid cash into your account if you hold the stock of the company) or stock buyback, where the company uses its profit to buy its own stock, decreasing the supply of stock available, increasing its value. That's at least the basis of how it's not just randomly made up nonsense out of thin air. How much stock sells for is related to how well a company does as the company can (and often does) directly influence its stock.

>>62553257You mean your pen?
>>62553275That can apply to pretty much anything. Yes, it can be highly speculative, but it's still grounded in the underlying company. It's not some NFT that you just hope people will be willing to pay more for. If you buy a company that you do research on and are convinced will keep increasing its profits much higher than the inflation, then it's highly likely people will be willing to pay for it in the future much higher than what the inflation is, meaning you'd be gaining profit if you were to sell it, which is the basis of investing. You pay X amount for something and get something beyond what you paid for it at first in the future.

>>62553318>the company makes more profits its share prices increasetheres no actual link between this other than what everyone thinks in their heads other people will do. we're all trying to model each others behaviour.if the price of shares was actually fixed to the profits (meaning, brokerages fixed the price at reported profits), that would provide a logical argument for shares. ofcourse it would incetivize shareholders and company owners to game the profit figures, but thats a separate issue.

>>62553328Stocks have been around for centuries lil bro I'm not too keen on reinventing the wheel with you

>>62553326you dont buy a share because the company associated with the ticker has cash flow. you buy a share in the hopes of selling it to the next guy, and you are making a prediction about other people's psychology, that they will justify their purchase decision based on cash flow.much like a salesman making a prediction on women's buying tendencies, you chose to sell the wares in a certain colour ("this will make the customer more likely to buy the box")but the box is empty. its just air.
>>62553333i know, and im also "investing" (aka making predictions about people's psychology in the future about their buying decisions.)but i also understand this is what we have to do to live in the modern world. if i was born the ussr, i would read up on communist ideology, and know the arguments the nomenclatura likes to see. i would rehearse and repeat it for them, to move up the ranks and get a better living condition.its the better living conditions we're after, and we see the sell-it-to-the-next-guy market as a means of acheiving that.
>>62553310>the price is determined by mass psychologyTo a large degree, but there are still boundaries and limits. If you have a company that creates 10 billion or revenue quarterly it wouldn't make sense for their stock (market cap) to be worth 5 billion. That's where the math and evaluations such as P/E come into picture. You can't really use that for something like art or memecoins, whose value is based pretty much purely on how much are people willing to pay for it.

>>62553339>If you have a company that creates 10 billion or revenue quarterly it wouldn't make sense for their stock (market cap) to be worth 5 billionagain, not to be annoying, but on the one hand you use words "boundaries", "limits", "math" - and then you say, "it wouldn't make sense".but ofcourse it would. because there *are* no boundaries, or limits, or math. just psychology.you could say, however, that it is statistically very unlikely, or rather: it is likely a very unstable configuration, for a stock to be valued at X when the quarterly revenue is 2X. maybe you could describe it as teetering on the edge of a knife, the moment someone buys, everyone else would self-justify their purchase - until the ratio moved higher to some arbitrary steady-state (ofcourse no such thing exists) point.but that is once again, we are back in the world of mass psychology. we are not modelling the business, but peoples behaviour.infact it just occured to me, that ofcourse, there is plenty of algorithmic trading going on - perhaps even we should be modelling the comptuers equally to the psychology.>>62553347why? i am trying to use my brain as hard as i can to justify what everyone takes for granted. infact its very frustrating for me to see something that billions say is grounded, but infact i have never found that grounding.naturally i am suspicious to be swimming against 'common knowledge'. but i have never been able to see how stocks aren't memecoins.

>>62553341japan promised to slow down their dump of us bonds
>>62553335This applies to the entirety of economic activity, every purchase ever starts with the seller's presumption when they bought it that they will sell it for more than they paid for it. Even basic resource extraction and agriculture depends on the assumption that you'll sell something for more than it cost to pull it out of the ground. The issue with the current market isn't that people are buying things with the intent of selling them for a higher price, is that the prices have no basis in reality. If a stock issues dividends, the price is based on the assumption of making your money back within a certain amount of time. If the company does buybacks, its based on the assumption that the company will buy back its shares for more than it sold them for. The issue with the the greater fool idea isn't "greater", its "fool".

>>62553341If you want to invest, don't do forex to start. Just buy a broad market ETF like VOO when you begin, then after several years of investing you can start to speculate
>>62553364it is my understanding that stocks started out as a means of locking in dividends. i can 100% understand owning shares in exchange for receiving an annual/quarterly percentage that is tethered to say, the current price of the shares.but it is my understanding that virtually nobody purchases shares for this purpose, atleast nobody ive ever seen on /smg/.>>62553372unlike the casino, where the house knows the percentages, nobody knows the weather. but someone with a lot of capital, with a supercomputer and sensors, can predict the weather a day forward with 20% more accuracy than others, and 2 days forward with 10% more accuracy than others.if you control informational flows (e.g. brokerages, internet providers, aggregators) you can glean early signals into possibly where things are moving.ofcourse being an insider is an obvious play, but again, nobody knows the future. insiders can receive early directional info only for a last minute shock change to completely reject their 'thesis', or to mis-understand the consequences of the early info. ultimately you can only know more signals in the present, and on average make better plays than others. even insiders will lose money.

I'm looking at a risk averse tqqq strategy and I'm thinking the best way to play it is to buy dips of -7% or more (counting between sessions total decline). Starting from 100% cash. Divide cash up into tenths and buy each dip with 1/10th of cash. This effectively mitigates risk. Sell all gains of +5% additively between sessions. This mitigates risk further by ensuring you don't get caught bagholding too long. These numbers aren't arbitrary it's eyeballing price changes since February to now.
>>62553470Soooo convservative just voo and chill at that point bro
>>62553461Thanks for the heads up. I almost missed it.>>62553462I ran a rng and it gave me CELH. Thanks for playing.

>>62553455If the fed hikes at some point they would go down further though? Unless you think a hike is fake and gay and we'll just hold until cuts next year.
>>62553497Then just get a 2x leveraged one!
>>62553502There's less risk and more gains potential than just bagholding 2x. The whole point is to capture more of the upside with less risk based on likely price action.
>>62552985A slightly more reasonable proposal than what’s currently on, which is chasing losses on a revolution which failed to launch.I hope this is t the case and that we’re really just running down their stockpile until boots. It was always going to be boots. The fact that they refused to market it is strange/stupid, but boots it’ll be.

WHAT HAPPENS IN 10 MINUTES??????
>>62553510That's the thing. Because you're only buying with 1/10th buying power and only buying significant dips and always taking profit you don't know how it goes each time because it doesn't move drastically outside these bounds for long ever outside of a historic crash event
