>Single-day drop of 27% at the end of July>Currently at $36>Lowest ever was around $25>Highest ever was around $150After their stocks closed on the 31st of July, the price of their shares took a nose dive. Could we see them skyrocket back up or at least recover to around $100 per share? On one hand, Roblox is a money-making machine which generates millions of dollars from user-made experiences, but on the other hand, they are facing a bunch of legal issues. These issues do not pose an existential threat to the company as far as I am aware, but lawsuits have resulted in Roblox requiring changes to their platform with regards to safety by enforcing facial age verification and restrictions on communication. https://ago.wv.gov/article/west-virginia-reaches-11-million-settlement-roblox-prompts-major-child-safety-overhaulTLDR; Child safety updates + legal scrutiny is harming Roblox financially. What does /biz/ think? Is it time to slurp? Or has the company fallen?
>>62572062based on the entire history of the video game industry, yeah it's over. every game, even massively successful long lasting games, has a lifecycle. buying with the expectation that it will crawl back up to it's all time high is a bad idea. instead you should analyze it from a value investor perspective.
>>62572062They're just going to get bought out and absorbed into Meta. Then all the privacy and child safety concerns will disappear overnight.
>>62572062Why does this game even need a stock?
To protect your child from predators we must take a full body scan of them and upload it to the internet
>>62572192More money and to retain their engineers idk
Seems like roblox does still have the potential to recover somewhat according to this. 28% anlyst upside and a greater fair value upside than Unity.https://www.investing.com/news/stock-market-news/roblox-vs-unity-which-gaming-platform-stock-offers-better-value-93CH-4837739
>>62572072Yeah I dont think it will go back up to $100 any time soon, and I agree that investing based on the mere expectation that it will go back up is not prudent, but judging by the looks of things, I think investors are just currently really bogged down in legal stuff, paying more attention to legalities and legal issues rather than RBLX's financial performance (they still are a cash cow).I think Roblox is worth more than the stock model lets on though. This is corroborated by the table I posted, which indicates that the market is undervaluing Roblox due to investors' concerns by possibly 40%. Then again, the facial scan age verification shite is very unpopular among the userbase and its reception was negative from the onset, even causing a substantial dip in stocks when it was first added to the platform back in January. Since then, Roblox's stock price has been continually falling.
>>62572072>based on the entire history of the video game industry, yeah it's over. This is becming increasingly apparent now. I think I heard that 80% of gaming companies faced a similar decline in share prices.

Or has the company fallen?i had to dig up an old webcam to record my face so i could autofarm fish simulator on desktop it wasn't that hard but it was weird idk i own more roblox shares than i really planned on bc i felt compelled to slurp the dip but i will trim a lot if there's a decent bounce
>>62572062What the fuck is roblox?
>>62572766You comparing to different things. Roblox is platform for user content and Unity is platform to sell Ads in Mobile Match-3 games. Plus Unity is making a platform for payments similar to Xsolla, since Apple about to lose monopoly on InApp payments (or already did). And they have a game engine, but it earns peanuts compared to the ADs and potential commission on InApps

>>6257206272% haircut over a single year is pretty whack.
>>62572062They have an insanely huge customer base. The problem is that those customers are kids without money playing free bootleg roblox versions of pay-to-play games.Meccha Cameleon is like, what, 15 bucks? And the shitty hastily put together Roblox clones still have like 10x as many players as the original. It is one of those companies that acts like a massive parasitic negative entity to the rest of the industry despite being not that profitable of a business venture.
