Aggressive budget deficit reduction, inflation control, invitation of foreign capital. The way you know it works is when unemployment goes up and businesses go bankrupt because meme jobs get eliminated. Recession and poverty sets in for about half a decade before you see any effects. And yes, they had no EU gibs back then so it's actually comparable.
