Once my Vanguard Cash Plus savings account reaches $20k, I'd like to start pouring the majority of my money into VFIAX. But I'd also like to invest in some thing else. What should that other investment be? It would probably be a 70(VFIAX)/30(Other Investment) split.

I will point out though. I'm someone that practices a "Core-Satellite" strategy, not a Boglehead strategy. I care more about diversification and I don't care if/when part of my portfolio underperforms. I like having the ability 10, 20, or 30 years down the road to have the option of liquidating a specific position in a specific fund, instead of always having to liquidate a single fund if I need cash.

Just try to use tax advantages when you can. My taxable accounts hold my low cost, low turnover, index funds. My Roth accounts hold my actively managed mutual funds and my barbell index funds.
