can an U.S. anon that is older than 30 explain how all of this transpired to me? fortunately ive been healthy and never really paid attention to the health insurance aspect.as I recall it used to be you get a "good" job and because they purchased quality health plans in bulk they received a heavy discount on premiums and they just took that discounted premium out of your paycheck. then the affordable care act made it so more healthy ppl started subsidizing unhealthy people and premiums shot up. as a result or maybe not as a result the insurers started giving employers less of a discount and now we have high deductible plans and normans get marketed the HSA "triple taxed advantaged!" from HR roasties. but to me it seems like I now pay the SAME premium and would have to pay a HIGHER deductible out of my HSA? I see people on Ramsey being like "yeah just pay out of pocket and let that money grow" 2 problems with this: 1 I'm paying out of my pocket? wtf was the insurance for? 2. TOo many people are too comfortable assuming the money (stock market) will grow?
