realistically what is wrong with this?even a low paying job can earn you enough to invest a bit every month in the stock market and end up a millionaire by 65
>>62598509So 25yrs of Q&A? Lol
>>62598522Probably not when you're starting at 55
>>62598508>Adobehope you get a flat. Cunt.
He'll last a year. He won't be able to handle the kids at all and is extremely likely to make a huge mistake handling them. He's a tech bro so he is probably a sex pest too. Parents will sniff him out in the first month. They will target him and they will win. This job is for out of work wine aunt realtors in the midst of active addiction, and even then only for 2-5 year stints at a time.
>>62598530by 55 you should have had 100k invested that already compounded and doubled 2-3 timesat that point working a shit job is ok because you only need to cover daily expenses until 65
>>62598508its funny that he wants to raise a glass, since he'll be, you know, driving.
>>62598538thats somewhat what I had in mind but already at 45 not 55. stacking shelves 8 hours a week to cover very basic needs the rest comes from my portfolio. I wouldnt even need to pay taxes since I would be under a certain threshold. maybe I am just romanticizing my idea but always imagine how nice it must be to just to turn your brain off and do your work without having to worry about consequences, responsibilities, deadlines or customers.
>>62598538>until 65Social security works for boomers now, but by their own admission the social security fund will be insolvent by 2050.
>>62598556the point is to not have to rely on social security and have your own retirement money
>>62598508I don't if this man has a family to provide for, if he's still paying his house or whatnot but as a non-american I'm amazed that you people seem to not have savings..how is it that you expect for things to always go great. Or maybe he does have savings but there are obligatory expenses so I don't want to judge harshly but still. Finding another job that pays well at an older age is difficult everywhere unfortunately: my dad was laid off when he was near 50 and only after 6 years he got another good paying job (by europoor standards I mean)
>>62598508>>62598509Grim. Absolutely fucking grim
>>62598509>QAThis role has been replaced by AI.He should have learned some other skills in his 25+ years career.
>>62598509You can't be 55 years old and contribute to "tech" anymore.May as well try and start a pro chess career at that age.Sorry unc.
Why show it to the whole world? Just delete your linkedin account or abandon it wtf. Also if you're gonna be driving might as well become a UPS or truck driver at least pay is higher. This guy decided to change career and aim for the very bottom, unless he enjoys working with kids which for an old man is a big yikes!
>>62598776That’s not a possibility because he’s oversocialized.
>>62598776he didn't grow up in a nigger neighborhood where you get made fun for for sharing things and everyone has to live in a sort of a dark forest where they keep themselves hidden and afraid of being prey
>>62598796>t. oversocialized
>>62598796dis nigga drivin a bus
>>62598509>>62598508>55yo man>did not have ANY savings from his 250k a year Senior SWE jobHowHow did this guy manage thatI don't understand how you can luck into a top tier job and just spend all your fucking money>but what about his wifeHe lives in cuckoldrado she obviously has a job
>>625988291. you get a mortgage so you are in debt for the next 20 years2. you get your dick wet so now you gotta pay for 2 people's 250k a year lifestyle3. your spouse poops out a child, so now you can never have any spending money ever
>>62598848You're supposed to pay off the mortgageif he bought a house 25 years ago it would easily be paid off on a 250k salary+whatever his wife is earning because housing costs were much cheaper in 2001So no, back to the drawing board, he's a dumbass and spent all his cash when he was on cloud nine and now he's a bus driver.
>>62598852anon do you really think his latina wife's whole extended family will be content with a 166k house with 2 bedrooms?
>>62598574How do you know he doesnt? He seems like he was forced into retirement early not that he is destitute from being laid off. >>62598552>stocking shelvesDo the wagies here seem fulfilled?Look for something tangential to your hobbies, like working at a hardware store or being a line cook on a fishing charter boat or something.
>>62598852Anon the $200 cable bill, $300 phone bill and 12 subscription services add up
>>62598508You just know damn well this dude was probably telling kids online how easy the job market is before he got laid off lmao. The barely contained seethe in this post is very funny. Going from sitting on your ass making a high income to driving a fucking bus, that's a gigantic step down for the elder Gen Xer.
>>62598776>Why show it to the whole worldFaggots and foids needs social validation.
>>62598509Kek this is literally me, but I have a few pivots / grifts on the back burnert. code janny
>>62598931>12Probably more like 1200 for this guy.
>>62598848I make $120k, have a wife and child, live in a HCOL area, and still am able to save $1100 every two weeks. It’s called not being a fucking goy.>Normal mid range paid off vehicle>No consumer debt>No student debt>Make my own meals>Not a slave to trends or fashion>No streaming because it’s all free online anyway
>>62598776desu ups is based on union membership and seniority, it's literally you start out loading trucks adn then after 5 years they let you drive.Though it's technically viable for him specifically because I've seen 75yo "drivers" who have seniority and cannot be fired.
>>62598509Bro he's been on tech wages for 25 years and couldn't wait more than a year without a job?? He should have decades saved up.
>>62599115Especially with markets at all time high
>>62598509Instead of testing some pozzed software that shouldn't exist he will be do something worthwhile now.
>>62598829hes still at least 10 years away from typical retirement age/being eligible to collect SS
>>62599090Something in your post is a lie. Maybe not everything, but you're lying about something.t. 120k HCOL, no wife, no child.
>>62598522>realistically what is wrong with this?when i worked in a factory one of my coworkers drove a school bus on the side.it's like $30/hour and, depending on the route, they might get 2-3 hours a day of work. it's not a full time job.
>>62599115School bus driver is probably a good job to have while job hunting since you are free in the middle of the day.Its one of the reasons that the jobs are so hard to fill, you work two two hour shifts a day five days a week.
>>62599146with his salary he shouldn't have ever needed SS, SS is supposed to be for poorfags.
>>62599153the wife and child are kidnapped and live in his basement for free.
>>62598508My city's bus company is always hiring. I looked into it and it turns out bus drivers pay for accident damage out of their own pocket, the free training is actually not free and you become an indentured slave for 3 years or pay it in full if you quit earlier, and you work 3 shifts. Also, the managers are all nepo baby dickheads. Only upside is drivers not having to interact with people anymore because there's ticket machines inside of buses.I suppose a school bus driver doesn't have to deal with 3 shift work but dealing with retarded kids and their parents, and the potential lawsuits from flinging one across the bus during an accident, is actually fucking worse.
>>62599153Maybe he bought a house 2015 or earlier, so lower prices at 3% mortgage rate. I could certainly afford to live where I live now if I bought today, but damn it would put a huge dent in my savings rate. They say dont try to time the market, but if you pull it off its gravy
>>62599153>>62599208Here is the breakdown.>Salary is $118500>Bonus of $5k annually>So actually $123500 (not a huge difference)>Rent is $3650 (I pay $2295, wife pays rest)>I contribute $906 to 401k every two weeks, combination of Roth, traditional, and employer match>Contribute another $200 to Roth IRA>Theres my $1100>I have a 6 month emergency fund already saved of $25000 so no emergency savings>My vehicle is paid off so only maintenance and insurance (use my bonus to cover this, mostly)>Biweekly take home before rent, Roth IRA is about $2100>Remaining money goes to groceries, gas, etc.I am not on my computer right now but if I was I could show a full breakdown. I also max out my DFSA to pay for daycare and all that.
>being discriminated against What did he mean by this?
>>62599217To add to this I do have crypto exposure in that I bought 1/2 of a Bitcoin in total around the collapse following the Covid bull run. This investment rate is only a recent thing too, as I was working to save my emergency fund. I’m also changing jobs soon and will be making closer to $170k in a LCOL area. So I plan on maxing out my 401k and saving for a house down payment. Do not be envious, I am 40 and still renting.
