Don't sweat the naysayers. There's ample argument to investing and renting vs owning, but it goes away as time goes on. At 6 years, the mortgage was cheaper than rent for equivalent. At 10, my 4 bed house costs less than my old 2 bed apartment. 100% of rent goes down the drain. Even if 80% is interest, your still 20% ahead in building equity. I won't give absolutes, but owning has been far better than renting for me, and the freedoms it comes with are worth the cost. Congrats Anon, I hope you chose wisely. It didn't have to be perfect, but it can't be a dumpster fire either. Meet that, and I doubt you'll regret it in a years time.
