Redpill me on CapitalOne, I keep getting letters about being pre-approved for a platinum card. My only credit card at the moment is AMEX
>>
Capital one is okay. From an old fogie best to just get a no fee 2% cashback on everything card like wells fargo active cash and stop thinking about this anymore. It is a waste of your time for peanuts.

Never take the card they send you in the mail, it's usually pretty bad. Instead, do your own research and hunt for the best deal on rewards. You can get a high yield savings for 3% APY with them for no fees and a 1-3% rewards credit card, also with no fees. If you keep it paid off it's pretty solid, autopay makes it braindead easy.

You want to specifically look for rewards, sign up bonuses, cash back, and anything to maximize every cent you put through the card.

You have to pay certain expenses anyways, so you might as well get the most value possible by picking the best set of cards to choose from.

I think the Savior rewards card does 3% on grocery and dining, and 1% for everything else for example. In a category where you don't get great rewards, you can pick up another card to supplement.

It's not as good as the Robinhood Gold card, but that card is $50/yr and the 3% rewards on everything probably won't last forever. CapitalOne has been around much longer and this card is still pretty solid.

That being said, rewards cards change all the time, getting better or worse. Keep an eye out for which cards gets nerfs and buffs

This is also great advice, simpler is better if you're not trying to min-max

You sure you're not getting CreditOnd?
