Full time waging and having kids left me a husk. The amount of actual free time drops to zero. You dont even get to have fun with kids. Id come back from work, eat something with the family and then put the kids to bed all in my work clothes still. Then its a shower, some chores and by the time i was into watching an episode of something with my wife id already be half asleep. Weekends are then reserved for all the things you didnt manage to do during the week. In my case I also had to work half a day on Saturdays. After doing that for a couple months you start to depersonalise. It also fucks up your marriage. Maybe things wouldve been better if we had an extended family and support network but I think we arent alone in being atomised people.
Getting home so tired at the end of the day. I did manual labor so I was trying not to fall asleep on the drive home and would immediately sleep after each shift. I really liked my coworkers they were fun to hangout with, our manager was cool and our boss was tolerable but I am exhausted at the end of the day.
