Another instance I've seen in New York is a guy who is refining gold into very thin sheets and using them as a common currency where you can shear off slices to the weight you need for whatever youre buying, which seems cooler in theory but less practical in my opinion as you end up with a ton of scrap of lower weight metals that just get smaller and smaller over time unless you bring them back to a refinery. But then again, maybe that is the game the refinery is trying to play
