>>62653867The lego was more of a joke comment, since the site tracks the minimum owned value as $0.01, so whatever market value it has from a gifted item would have insane numbers. A more accurate metric for growth is Market Price / MSRP, since it shows what the market is willing to pay above retail. Out of the 130 boxes of lego I have, only one actually popped off organically ($33 -> $130)https://www.brickeconomy.com/set/76912-1/lego-speed-champions-fast-furious-1970-dodge-charger-rtNot to mention selling it is illiquid, condition sensitive (people like to display it), and has logistics for storage and shipping overhead. I usually buy sets from my local Walmart when they're like 60% off clearance (the store needs to have like -40% margin before it becomes feasible for me to buy and Walmart typically gets 30% margin on Lego)-Separately from that, I've noticed many vendors removing plastic from packaging. No matter if they scream its for environmental reasons, it's 100% because of Iranian and Chinese logistics issues. Things like mice, headphones, batteries, all paper packaging now.

Did everybody get my portfolio the last thread, or do I need to post it again?I have another portfolio that I use for my secondary, more risk seeking portfolioThat portfolio is this:40 NTSD (1.5x SPY + VEA, monthly reset) / 30 MQQQ (2x QQQ, monthly reset) / 30 WX (2x VT, daily reset)It's a total world market, leveraged portfolio that keeps the daily reset weight small so fees don't drag. The drag on NTSD and MQQQ are minuscule, and sub 1%. WX is 6% drag, but it's only been active for like 2 months, and that's all the history I have to estimate drag with. And the last 2 months have been choppy as fuck, and horrific for any kind of leverage.I'd estimate, once the fund has some history that drag will be around 3% for WX.My main portfolio from the last thread>>62653106

It's a total world portfolio with 1.8x leverage, and a 2x QQQ engine.Over concentration scares me much more than leverage. I think it can easily be worse than leverage in a lot of ways. >NTSD>SCHD>VGT >SATAI keep cycling through ideas for a stack that will produce better returns with less volatility and this is my current iteration. I think COPY may be better than NTSD but currently NTSD is winning. This stack should beat SPX in almost any scenario. Some facts: VGT has only had two red years since 2005. SCHD is a rock solid dividend fund with growth potential every year. NTSD gives you lightly leveraged world exposure. SATA is a daily dividend paying low volatility BTC fund that acts as a HYSA in this portfolio that can be adjusted based on market conditions
>>62654016I mentioned in my post that the portfolio was designed without backtesting. I could have easily overfit it with multiple times the CAGR on backtest. But it only has 13% CAGR on backtests, because backtests weren't a deciding factor for the designs. It was designed with monte carlo testing, regime stress testing, and synthetic stress testing, robustness testing, and a dozens of other tests. Not backtests. No, it's not overfit for backtests. I deliberately excluded backtests from being a deciding factor.

When do I hold and when do I scalp?I feel like 99% of the time, scalping is the better strategy, as if something goes up 3% in a day or even two days in a row it goes up by 4% total, the chance it will go up like this is very small. Otherwise the yearly growth of most things would be much higher than it is. After a small period of growth there's always a small correction. Holding means I hold this correction. And despite that fact, that if something rises by 3% or something, it seeming like it's best to sell it, most people hold.I tried both strategies, for a month or two I held and for an month or two I scalped my gains, and on the first instance I was at like a 10-20% annualized yield, and when scalping I was at 150%. Buy some dip, wait for it to correct to the trend, and immediately sell. Seems much better than to hold. The only downside I see is taxes on realised gains and maybe running out of dips to put the money in.

Anything that seems out of trend, when it's low but the business is not doing worse, just the price decreased for psychological/hype reasons. On the other hand holding a couple of businesses I believe will do well over the long term and produce a lot of income seems comfier so I might just stick to that.

>>62654159Scalping every gain prevents you from holding through big moves up. As you said, dips can run out. For instance, SNDK 10x'd from Jan. 1 to its local top with numerous run-ups, without more than a 20% drop through that time. So where will you be when you're waiting for the return to a trend that never comes? Or where would you be after selling SNDK at $300 on Jan. 5, only for it to touch $2500 the same year?

Paul Volcker raised the fed funds rate to like 18% in the early 1980s to kill inflation, but back then the debt to gdp ratio was 30%. What if we get another inflation spike? The fed can't hike rates that much when debt to gdp is 120%.

>>62654251first of all no it would not, because if shit rly kicks off like pmg trailer trash wants then they'll just force you to hand over your gold, lincon did this too.second of all, even if this didn't happen, it would not, just by simple economics.gold heads to those who have demand for it.in the apocalypse where mr prepper survives, he might have occasion for gold once a year to leave his farming autraky to buy medicine or something, and in most cases would just barter.you need to be producing large surpluses, to have the need to convert these into future goods deliverable, and to trade over long distances for gold to have value.in hockeypad wearing cannibal times, there is not much need for gold, and thus it would be of little value.

I just had a brilliant idea for my portfolio. Listen to this.My portfolio has a quality sleeve>JQUA 5 / FMTM 5 / QFF 2 JQUA is broad market quality. And it generally selects the high end of quality. FMTM is a momentum fund with quality filters, so it selects companies with high momentum. Then filters out the companies with bad quality. So it's a quality/momentum fund. FMTM gives momentum to my quality sleeve. Then, finally QFF, it's very high concentration, with very strict standards for quality. I think of it like putting a little bit of rocket fuel in the engine to give my sleeve that extra push. Now, I recently added a new fund called WTLS to my hedge sleeve. And reading how this fund works, it uses GS Alpha Index swaps, and longs 100% SP500. GS Alpha Index selects 300 longs, and 300 shorts. This is where the beautiful part starts. Looking futher into how GS Alpha Index work, Goldman Sach's proprietary model longs and shorts companies based on, the biggest factor being quality, but momentum, risk, and one other factor are in the model that selects the companies. That's really interesting for me, the thought of, including in my quality sleeve a fund that longs quality companies and shorts low quality companies. No longer would my quality sleeve long mostly qualiy. It would short poor quality. And testing it, it tests beautifully but this fund only has 7 months of history. This is my highet priority investigation. If it works, which it has the last 7 months, it would considerably improve every metric of my quality sleeve and portfolio as a whole.
