I spent years looking forward to the day when I could finally escape brutal wageslavery and have more time to live my life and spread my wings

Yet now that I have it, all I do with my days is ruminate and dwell on people from my past who were disrespectful to me and how powerless I felt

If you didn't realize this would happen in all those years then I guess you really didn't think much about it. Anyways, get a hobby or an actual job. But something you want to do this time.

It seems like you haven't undergone any individuation. I would recommend reading Carl Jung and unironically some heavy doses of psilocybin in a ritual setting. The miasma of decades of social malfunction and possibly trauma are weighing your soul down and you need some drastic and unorthodox measures to snap out of it

kinda the same happens to me, but not even because of NEETing, but because I WFH in a job I love (except for the people) and live in a shithole of a house.

I also forgot to mention/ask:
do you guys ever feel constantly paranoid and threatened? I feel this way ever since my mom tried to steal money from me. and whenever I interact with people who I have to pay to do something (a mechanic, architect, whatever) with whom I feel like they don't take me seriously, I start thinking that they might scam me, steal from me or whatever.

forgot to mention: you have to take control of your thought process. it sounds like you are getting on loops in your head, ruminating like you said. can you stop at will? if you can not you have to learn. it is possible, ive done it myself. not saying im 100% in control, but im WAY better then i was say 2 or 3 years ago.

she's single mother, I'm her younger son (though I'm old now). she tried to steal from me WHILE I WAS HELPING HER BUY A HOUSE FOR BOTH OF US

but you know what's funny? SHE warned me against women for a long time. she made me paranoid and scared of people and their tricks. and then she pulled the same shit she warned me of.
you have no idea how enraged I was. she seemed to think she was entitled to my money, and that I wouldn't do shit about it. didn't even ask me to give it to her, she simply kept it. not only that, she then tried to "negotiate" a % of my part of the house. it was really stupid. clearly she thought this was a power dispute... dumb bitch.

Why do people keep talking about this book?

>she seemed to think she was entitled to my money
same with my whore of a mother. when my parents sold the house after the divorce i was supposed to get a share of the money but never saw a penny, she kept it instead.

Then you haven't actually made it

First sign a person has made it is they stop worrying about what other people think.

The problem with people on /biz/ is that all they care about is status and money, they see the world through this binary lense. If someone is employed, he must be pathetic and secretely depressed.
because he's not on top of the foodchain like Andrew Tate (and other retards).
And in a way it makes sense, until you actually interact with people in the real world and realise that the vast majority of highly successful people are stressed as fuck and depressed, drug addicts who spread their wealth on social media trying to convince everyone that their life is great.
As Saint Augustin famously said "happiness is to keep desiring what you already have".
As long as you live in the past (dwelling on what people did to you) or the future (always seeking more, always settings goals that won't bring you any happiness) you'll be sad as fuck. Only when you can look at what you have and find ways to be happy about it can you truly find peace. I'm not asking you to have zero ambition, if you're extremely poor and in a toxic family, sure, you shouldn't focus on being happy with what you have (although you should try focusing on what's working well in your life, however little that may be), and you should strive to improve your life. Wealth and status is like weight ; if you're extremely thin and light, it's unhealthy and dangerous, food is good for your health, you should eat otherwise you die. But too much food creates a myriad of other issues that are just as bad if not worse than being anorexic.
If you have a decent job, a family you don't hate, show more appreciation.
The happiest man in the US isn't Elon Musk, it's probably some total random dude in Michigan who loves his family and is content with a decent job that let him have free time for his hobbies, friends and family.
The modern world is lying to you.
