How the fuck do people younger than me have so much more money than me and how do i stop seething over it like a pathetic midlife failure?
>>
>>62665560
you need to up your income. the key to making good income is networking. go to a bar where rich people drink and try and make some friends. golf courses are a good option. once you get to know them tell them about how you are having financial difficulties because of some stupid decision you made(child support, truck payments, gambling debt.) don't tell them you are low income because they will just tell you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps or something. they might take pity on you and give you a six figure management or consulting job.

did u have a job in ur 20s or did u just smoke pot and play video games?

Video games and porn are cheap.

I am 32 and only ~700k, god dam I wished I had 2 million, that is enough to retire humbly at least

how are you a failure when you could retire in any country in the world at 30? explain it to me
>>
>>62665894
That's £660K or nearly a million dollars in liquid assets. That's a lot of fucking money.

It isn't, and I'm tired of pretending it is.

If you also own a house, its enough that you won't have to work again if you have a modest cost of living

they either were born rich or upper middle class and profited from nepotism, got lucky in life, or got good jobs/are smart enough to get paid well for their shit.

How does that work in the UK, can he access this money before retirement age? Most of these schemes are locked until 65 so that would be retarded
>>
>>62665560
That's a very reasonable amount of savings assuming you already have a significant amount of equity or outright own a home

Otherwise it's not enough
>>
>>62667455
You can retire on a private DC (savings) pension 10 years before the state pension age which is rising to 67 this year, so any age from 57 on this year.

Yes it's locked until then.
>>
>>62665560
thats it? 450 at 40?
That dues poor, and if youre poorer than that youre ever poorer.

You are seething at the wrong people; and seethe is not constructive.
If it really bothers you, get some ice in your veins & take revenge. Or do whatever.

Basically, loving parents who support you while ensuring you actually do something with your life. My parents flat out told me they'd kick me out if I ever spent more than a month NEETing or just bummed around at some entry-level job forever. I know guys who spent a 'gap year' out of highscool doing fuckall and it genuinely put them behind.

I'm 39 and have $7m usd.

I started working as a quant in finance at 27, earned about $200k later on but after taxes could save about $50k or so annually. Savings from work is not gonna get you rich.

What made me rich was taking this money and investing it. I took high risk investments (single stocks, crypto), of which most turned to shit, but some turned into great multiples that overall made me money.

I first thought I'd retire with $500k, but I hit $1 million pretty suddenly, and then the retire target was $2m, then $4m, now my retirement target is $10m and I think I'll stick it with there. Anyway after hitting $1m i went down in risk (see graph), less risky investments etc.
Big mistake. If I had stayed fully total risk invested as long as I still had a cash flow from my work, I would've been at $50m or so by now. But anyway I reduced my risk and now at $7m I'm 70% low risk SP500 ETF and rest in more risky investments. Quit my job at $4m. so now am just a NEET.

Gonna purchase a relatively condo next year for $800k, so have to cash out something at the end of this year. Its the first time I sell something and don't buy a liquid asset with it, so it feels like that money is "gone" and I'm just at $6m. Still should be enough for me to live comfortably.

Thanks for reading my blogpost.

He is in like the top 1% of UK earners, 99% of people earn nowhere near that much, never mind save that much.

99% of people are barely sentient so does it really matter?
20% of people in the UK have 'literacy challenges' and can't even read this thread. You should only compare yourself to your peers.

Imagine feeling happy about your above average salary only to earn maybe £200 net over someone who cannot read lmao

Because we get paid much less in the UK compared to the USA.
>>
>>62665560
Not sure but I would imagine fully paying off your mortgage by 39 is exceptionally rare let alone that and having savings to boot.
It seems almost impossible without having inheritance. Nothing wrong with that but it's a little disingenuous to act superior in some way when in fact you probably just got given free money from your parents.
In other words: I don't know but I think there is a little more to stories like this than just "I stopped eating avocado toast and said my my prayers" than they let on. Especially when you remember that Reddit is the home of the goodie two shoes normie just DYING to be given a gold star.
>>
>>62665560
in this current economy you have to actively try not to earn over 6 figures. i don't have a single friend who doesn't over 500k
>>
>>62669933
My mortgage is paid off and I completely fucked up my 20s, didn't even graduate college and start making money until 32.
All it takes is being an incel and living in a red state and it's very doable.

This desu. It’s pretty wild, even HR beckies earn this much now in major cities.

Best way to disarm someone telling you to bootstrap yourself to success would be to ask if they could replicate their business today. The answer for most businesses is "No".

Of course you need some start money to invest. But many of friends who earn $200-300k a year and nearly 2 decades of work life have barely saved anything up (they have kids&wife to spend their money, i dont, so there's that).
Moral of my story >>62669569 is to go ALL IN when you're broke and only to reduce risk once you have made some money
>>
>>62671507
Also .. this is how it looked like for me (its at $7mn now). Having risky investments is all nice and good when it goes up, but you have to be able to stomach huge multiple 7 digit losses as well with no guarantee it will ever come back.
>>
>>62667421
Lol no u
>>
>>62665560
Most stories on reddit are fake and likely LLM generated these days.
>>
High earners don't post on 4chan or Reddit. Surely not for financial advice or bragging rights. The only time a high earner posts in sites like these are for some PR stunt or to promote something that will make them money. If none of those are there you can bet your left testicle its a LARP.
People like these have easy access to financial advisors through investment/premier banking. They don't need help from 4channers and Redditors.

Think about it. If you were lurking /sp/ and saw OP claiming to be Messi asking for advice and then Connor McGregor and Max Verstappen both replied to his thread, would you believe it?
What if you were on /pol/ and half the posters claimed to be aides to heads of state with insider info, how believable would it be? Would you not ask for some sort of proof if there were at least two posters claiming to be Hollywood A listers in a given thread on /tv/?

I assume in all these instances you'd ask for some sort of proof right?
LARPers on /biz/ get away because people never ask for proof. Let's see a timestamped photo of your house, your car, your bank card. Notice how the only time you see someone "flex" their credit card here it's some fucking Amex? Even a jeet on low income can get one of those. Have you ever seen anyone post an actual private or premier bank card here? Things like HSBC Premier, Barclays Private Bank? Someone with $7m net worth sure as fuck isn't banking on revolut or chasing amex points.

These larpers are often lonely, desperate for attention and attempting to demoralise.

>>62665894
the only way you could possibly feel this way is if your dad had more at your age
>>
>>62669954
i know this is bait but anyone earning more than 100k who thinks its easy 100% had their parents bootstrapping them their whole life to go to a good college and taught them what to do.
>>
>>62665894
Because the UK will eventually tax savings accounts a % every year for holding it in the banks. They will do this with the ability to deny you from pulling the money of the account out unless its a payment.
>>
>>62672607
You should put a logarithmic scale on the vertical access of that chart. It would make the road to the first 100k and million much clearer.
>>
>>62677383
Vertical axis. Wtf is wrong with me
>>
I've saved diligently for the past 10 years while auto dumping to index funds and I'm barely at 200k. My buddy lives paycheck to paycheck buying the biggest home he can, newest cars, eating out every meal and just told me his dad inherited about $1M in assets plus owns his home, so he will inherit that in likely 20 years plus compounding from it all. I personally won't inherit anything since my family all lived paycheck to paycheck just to get by while having too many kids.

Moral of the story is that life is not fair.
>>
Rich people are more likely to talk about their money online (anonymously)

Poorer people are far less likely to do that

Because you see rich people online worrying about rich people problems, but don’t see as many poor people online talking about their savings or investments (many of them likely have neither, even if they have savings many have little to no investments) you are tricked into thinking there are more rich people than there actually are
>>
>>62678006
maybe he just lives in a high income area like nyc or sf where every kid is a millionaire by 30, but a lot of flyover states are hella poor
>>
>>62665560
Early career choices make a huge difference. It really is that simple. There's a reason by bogleheads do well. They have good jobs, invest aggressively in index funds and let time do its thing. By the time they're 40, they're well into their way to true wealth
>B-b-ut I want to be rich in my 20's so I can jetski in the alps and bang hit bitches and and and and
Cool, go ahead and try, but if you fail, the consequences are dire. If you're doing that, you 100% better have a good career too otherwise you're fucked if it goes side ways.
People hate to hear that time is the biggest resource you have, so they rush and lose it all for a small chance of living out some weird fantasy in their 20's instead of decades of ease and wealth.
>>
>>62678012
>>
so basically the majority of people here are rich. thats great for you. most people in the real world are poor though.

He's blowing his money, he wont be able to keep his wealth because his ego is even bigger. Many such cases.
>>
>>62678355
even if these people are telling the truth, i bet most haven't paid taxes on their investments for a while so they're going to have serious issues actually spending the cash, or the money is all tied up in investments that are shaky at best. a lot of them are completely dependent on line going up forever.
