How the fuck do these places make money? You're paying rent + employees + food + like 15 cats. Are the margins actually decent?
>>62673789I don't think they pay the 15 cats.
>>62673789they don't
>>62673810so slaveryI imagine there is additional liability running a disgusting restaurant as well
The irs lets you operate a business at a loss (pay no taxes) for 11 years before they classify you as a hobby and then you have to change the name and start over…why would they allow this?…because it stimulates the economy/growth
>>62673789>take in more than you spendThat's itThat's howDid you think massaging (affluent) introverted egos WASN'T a lucrative business model?
>>62673789The cats don’t cost that much desu.
Wtf is a cat cafe? Do retards pay an entree fee to pet the cats or something?
>>62673993Correct. It's actually a great purchase to avoid your girlfriend buying a cat
>>62673789I had the same idea involving Atrax robustus for petting, but the bank turned down my loan for some obscure reason.
>>62673993I see them near colleges a bunch, I'd imagine its a nice place to unwind in exam season. You cant stay stressed after petting a cat, nevermind 15 of them.
The problem with cat cafes is I'm fat and therefore unattractive and I know they don't want my fat ass in the cat cafe because it will lower the other people's, mostly women's, moods which then will make me not actually enjoy the cat cafe. So I don't go.
>>62674134You should try sociopathy.
>>62673789For a long time I've wanted to open a combination cat and manga cafe and make the servers wear maid and butler outfits but I can't decide how I want to handle the allergy issue. Maybe keep a hypoallergenic space where the cats aren't allowed? I don't know how the dander might accumulate on the manga.
>>62674209>be allergic to cats>go into cat cafe>sneeze>sue for thousands and winThis shit is why we cant throw peanut shells on the floors in Texas Roadhouse anymore.
>>62673789Some people REALLY love cats
>>62674209You need to have a cat pen that's visible to everyone, but sealed, like a big fish tank. With enough air filters, nobody will get sick. People can enter the pen to play with the cats.>How do I keep the cats from leaving the pen?The same way you keep them from leaving the store.
>>62674299No, I know I can keep the spaces separate. It's as easy as getting two retail spaces close together and having separate entrances. The problem would be the manga. My vision is people can take the manga books between the spaces, so there'd be a possibility of cross-contamination of dander.Person A takes a copy of Naruto 1, reads it while petting kitty, then puts it back. Then some cat allergic person picks up Naruto 1, reads it in the hypoallergenic space, touches his eyes, has a reaction, doesn't come back again. I don't know how likely that really is.
>>62673789The place nearby me works like this:>option A: patrons can enjoy the cafe section and peek through the windows at the cats>option B: patrons can pay for a window of time to enjoy the company of cats, and also pay for add-ons like extra treats to bribe the cats for love. You can also adopt any cat for $150 dollars, I believe.the cats are sourced from a local rescue, so I assume that rescue provides some financial relief on the shop's upkeep (feed, litter, etc.). I'd imagine the cafe part would be what you would gauge as the money-making part. Cats are sourced cheaply.
>>62674331In all seriousness, why the fuck would someone with a cat allergy want to go to a cat cafe? That's literally going out of your way for trouble
aright
im gonna open up a dog cafe where the dogs are trained to hump the customers legs
>>62673810Got a source on that, pal?
>>62673789The same way places this like make money.Lonely women.
>>62673855>The irs lets you operate a business at a loss (pay no taxes) for 11 years before they classify you as a hobbyYou can't deduct the losses, though. You can only bank them to write off future profits if you ever make any profits. And IIRC the limit is either three or five years. But maybe it's changed since my tax law class 15 years ago, and anyway I only remember just parts of that shit.
>>62675724Those are fronts for K9 brothels, Anon. They're where women who live in small apartments go when they're getting too horny to take it any more.
>>62675759Deducting the loss isn't important. The idea is to make some money to cover mortgage and utilities and insurance while never paying a dime in taxes on that money. It's basically just free real estate. That's how most retail operations work. They're just buying the owner property tax free.
>>62673789Money laundering

>>62674523>so I assume that rescue provides some financial relief on the shop's upkeep (feed, litter, etc.).ah yes those animal shelters who are all swimming in money
>>62676184The food and litter for those cats isn’t more than 500$ a month a literal pittance.
>>62674523Keep assuming and imagining
>>62676204rent of commercial space is the big one for small businesses. not only is it absurdly expensive but also tends to go up whenever you make something
>>62675759Missing the point >>62675769Correct…everything you spend money on can become a business expense
>>62675769>the idea is to not make a profitwut?
>>62674831Well I want it to be a combo manga/maid/cat cafe. So maybe they want to ogle maids or read manga. Also I finally googled it and yes there can be contamination from touching cats, touching manga, and then touching manga and touching face. So manga + cat is probably a bad idea.
>>62678937Makes sense you'd want to maximize clientele, but you have to be reasonable with regards to safety and legal liability for a business entity (sounds like you are)
>>62673855>>62675759I thought it was 2 - 3 years...
>>62673789Lonely office bitches in their 40s with no children and plenty of disposable income.
>>62673789they can charge 50% more and sell bullshit like cat treats or even outright beg for not-tips saying like "help us pay for coco's health insurance!"plus they have a pretty big niche appeal for people who would never otherwise go to a cafethe finances of coffee shops are what make no sense to me
>>62680664also me my ex wife took the cat :( i miss my kitty
The one near me has a really shitty cafe part, so it's mostly just the cat part, and it smells almost as bad as the cat rescue place.
The best thing is you can just eat the cats when they get old or a nuisance
